Lucille Andrews had the perfect life.

She had perfect grades, the perfect family, the perfect boyfriend, the perfect friend group—to put it plainly, she had the perfect everything. Everybody in Hawkins knew her—she was Little Miss Sunshine, after all. Practically the entire town had fallen victim to the persuasion of her bright, shining smile and lilting laughter in the childhood years she spent foot racing her brother down Main Street.

The Andrews family was quite well-off. At least, as well-off as they could be—they still lived in Hawkins, Indiana, after all, and how luxurious could that be? Nevertheless, they were happy; perhaps the happiest family in the town. Never in the public eye did Lucy and Leo share a common sibling argument. Richard and Debbie kept their financial debates and spousal disputes behind closed doors.

But when boiling water reaches the rim, the whole kettle explodes; and when Richard's assistant catches him in quite an unsatisfactory manner with one of his younger female clients, the same can be said.

At sixteen and twelve years old, Lucy and Leo's worlds were turned upside down when their parents filed for a divorce. It began as a private matter, but what really stays private in Hawkins, anyway? And especially considering the young female client was the visiting cousin of Lucy's best friend Carol, the entire town was practically bound to get word of the affair within an hour—and, subsequently (more importantly), the entire student body of Hawkins High School.

Adultery was no laughing matter in a small town like Hawkins, and Lucy discovered this the hard way. Those that she had considered friends turned their backs on her in the blink of an eye; she did not even get a chance to fend for herself. And when confronting her boyfriend as to whether or not he was going to stick up for her, Steve Harrington reacted in possibly the worst way he could have: He hesitated.

All Lucy wanted from Steve was for him to have her back, tell her (now-ex) best friends to shove it where the sun does not shine, comfort her—just stay by her side during the worst week of her life. Apparently, such a thing was too much to ask for.

The only person there for her during her breakup with Steve was her younger brother. Leo and Lucy learned quickly that if they were going to get through their parents' messy, sensationalized divorce, they needed to do it together. And so they became each others' greatest confidants; best friends, even—which Lucy was fine with.... until she learned it meant she would be roped into all of Leo's friends' supernatural bullshit.

Somehow, the worst part of it all was not the possessed little boy, Will Byers. No—to Lucy, the worst, most unbearable part was that every time she spent time around Steve Harrington, her heart could not stop doing that familiar little flutter of glee.

HARRINGDREWS IS HOME! Happy Risky Business rewrite season to all those who celebrate! As of right now s5 is about to come out and I'm fearing for the life of my good friend Steve Harrington. Hopefully this will age really well and we can all look back on this and laugh hahaha funny

Tweaked the plot only slightly because Lucy's parents' divorce WOULD have been a big scandal in the 80s but was getting lots of comments wondering why it was such a big deal and it got me thinking. Yeah. Why would it be a big deal. Narrows eyes. So yeah he CHEATED on her! Take that
