Agent jones
18:50, 17 May 2026Brooklyn NYC 1940
As you stumble out of the water you look closely around the city surrounding you. A tall man rushes to your side helping you up from the ground. There's a constant ringing sound in your ears muffling out the sound of the foreign man's voice. You tighten your grip around his arm, resting your weight on him.
"Can you tell me your name miss?" He asks once more trying to get your attention. Yet your mind is elsewhere. "Miss!"
"Pardon me" you mumble as you let go of him. Resting on your own two legs.
"Are you okay?" He asks. You turn to look at him. "Are you hurt?" He looks at you nervously with brown kind eyes.
"I am well thank you.." you say politely. Your gaze shifts between him and the surrounding city. "Would you mind telling me where I am?" You ask. You're absolutely terrified. Moments ago you were in Asgard. Next, you're here.
"You're in Brooklyn sweetheart" he smiles kindly.
"I beg your pardon?" You question. You've never heard of such a place. Brooklyn?
"Brooklyn?" He grins. " New York City?" He studies your face closely, but there's nothing there except pure confusion.
"I'm afraid I do not know tales of such a place" you share.
He slowly reaches out his hand, gesturing for you to follow him. "Come with me" he smiles.
"I do not even know your name" you sigh deeply. Hesitating to grab a hold of his hand.
"Howard Stark" he says confidently. " and you are?" He smirks. Shaking your hand.
You eye him up and down still unsure if you should trust the stranger. But it seems as though you don't have much of a choice. "Y/n Idunndottir" you smile weakly.
"You really aren't from around here are you?" He chuckles kindly. You simply shake your head. "Come with me y/n..let's get you warmed up" he smiles as you grab onto his hand following him. "You can think of me as you're very own personal guide"
As you walk through the loud city. There are moving vehicles roaming the streets. You cling onto the stranger's hand for dear life. He wraps his jacket around your wet cold frame. He can't help but smile as you watch the world around you in awe. And though the city is admirable, it cannot compare to the majestic mountainsides and cities of Asgard. You reach a tall building in the middle of the city.
"This is my place" he says gesturing to the apartment.
"Like your palace?" You ask.
"You could say that" he grins as he leads you up the stairs into the small condo. He slowly sits down at a table waiting for you to sit down. "So y/n Idunndottir?" He says. "Where is it you're from?" He asks.
"I am of Asgard." you state. You search in your memory for any clue as to how you could end up here.
"Is that so?" He asks with a light in his eyes. "Well I'm terribly sorry sweetheart, you're on Midgard now" he explains.
You feel your breath fasten as you sit down opposite him. "You know of Asgard?" You ask shockingly.
"I know of the power it holds.. and I think you can help me," he says excitedly.
"What in the all fathers name could you need my help with?" You ask hesitantly.
"A war is raging. I need all the help I can get" he smiles. He fetches you some clean clothes. Then He grabs a hold of his keys. Running to the door. "Well come on now"
You follow behind him, driving to an isolated facility just outside of the city. As you watch the city disappear behind you, you drift in and out of sleep. Howard looks to you.
"Are you gonna tell me what brought you here?" He questions.
"I...I ehm.." you trail off. "I don't recall," you say. "One minute I was with the princes. Spending a lovely evening with them... the next I'm here" you explain.
"You're a princess?" He asks.
You chuckle lightly. "Far from it.. I'm nothing but a simple maidens daughter" your face softens.
"Can you handle a gun?"
"Pardon me?"
"Can you fight?"
"Of course, I can. I'm one of the most skilled archers in the nine realms" you say confidently. You had spent countless hours with the warriors three. Mastering the art of combat, sword fighting and archery.
He stops the car, opening up the door for you. You quietly follow behind him into the facility. People are running in and out of different rooms. So much has happened within the couple of hours you've been stuck here. You find it hard to process.
You've tried countless of times calling out to Heimdall. Seems like however, you got here... it was a one-way ticket. And however nice the people of Midgard are... nothing could compare to the princes you so longed to see again.
"So y/n how would you like a job?" Howard smirks. As you're pulled out of your head.
"I'm sorry what?" You ask confusedly. You heard him perfectly fine. But what use could you have?
"Our team in the strategic scientific reserve could use a strong woman like you on our team" he explains, handing you a file.
You quickly search through it. As you learn the news of an upcoming attack. Planned by an organization called Hydra. And in the back of the file, you see exactly why your help is needed. The tesseract. The one Thor and Loki would tell you many stories about..
"What part would I have in this... I have no interest in killing midgardians" you say.
"Don't worry your pretty little head about killing.. you'll do the training of my men." He assures you. "I have a feeling you know your fair share about the cube we're searching for"
"I will help.. on one condition. You'll help me find my way back home" you say eagerly.
"You've got yourself a deal Agent Idunndottir"He smiles reaching out his hand. You grab a hold of it shaking his hand.
"Perhaps it would be in my best interest to keep my identity a secret," you say quietly. "Just for now at least"
"You read my mind" he smirks.
"I most certainly did not," you say offended by his accusations.
"No I'm sorry" he bursts out laughing. "It's just something we say here on earth.. like if you agree" he smiles warmly.
"Oh very well then. I did read your mind" you smile nervously. There's a lot of adjustment you'll need to get used to.
"So what shall we call you?" He asks.
You search through the room as you come across a door with a name on it "Agent jones" you smile. It most certainly has a nice ring to it.
You spend months with Howard, training to become the best agent earth has ever seen. Fighting for justice and hopefully your ticket back home. Your memories of the night you disappeared are still lost somewhere. The bond between you and Howard only grows stronger.
As years pass by, you seem to forget about your dream of going home. Though the princes still linger on your mind every once in a while. The hope of ever returning to Asgard fades away. You enjoy your new life on earth.. it's simple.
June 14 1943
You wake up like every other day. Yet this one is a special one. Today is the day you get your first team of recruits. The army of hydra got a hold of the tesseract in a small city in Norway. Meanwhile, you and Howard have been secretly creating a serum. The key to creating the perfect army of soldiers. Super soldiers. Your job is to find the perfect candidate among the recruits. Which shouldn't be difficult. You've had plenty of discussions with a doctor, he seems to have found the perfect fit.
You walk out to the training ground. Watching as a young line of young men stands ready for battle. Quickly one catches your eye. A small scrawny kid. His helmet appears far too big for his head..
"Recruits attention" you call out. As all the men stand up tall. "Gentlemen. I'm agent Jones." You say proudly. " I supervise all operations for this division"
You hear one of the men laughing behind your back. Quickly turning your head around to face him. You raise your eyebrow questioningly.
"Do we have a problem!"
"I'm sorry miss, but what does a fine woman like yourself know about fighting?" He asks. The men around him chuckle at his remark.
You stand in front of him eyeing him up and down. "What's your name soldier?" You ask with a steady voice.
"Gilmore Hodge, princess" he grins.
"Step forward Hodge" you say coldly. He follows your order with a smirk glued to his lips.
"Are you gonna fight me?" He asks you flirtatiously. The remaining boys stand in silence trying to hold back their laughs. "I'm sure I've got some moves you'd like princess"
In one swift motion, you pin him to the ground. Everyone looks at you in shock. You grab a hold of his arm twisting it, as he screams In pain. You lean down to his ear whispering. "Firstly you speak when spoken to.. secondly, I'm no princess" you hiss as you let him go.
"Agent Jones" a man calls to you. You turn around.
"Colonel Phillips" you smile kindly.
"I can see you're breaking in the new recruits.. that's good" he chuckles. Shaking your hand. "Get your ass up from that dirt, stand in line until someone tells you what to do" he demands the man.
"Yes sir" Hodge mutters..
"General Patten once said; war is fought with weapons but won by men," he says. Looking around at the new recruits. "We are going to win this war because we have the best... Men" he trails off as he sees the same small kid standing amongst the men.
You turn to Dr Erskine, who gives you a small nod. You quickly understand why he's here. The super soldier project. The guy who didn't give up.
"Well and hopefully because they are gonna get better" Phillips continues his speech. "Much.. much better"
You send the soldiers out running laps as you walk with Dr Erskine and Colonel Phillips.
"The two of you are not seriously considering picking Rogers?" Phillips asks hesitantly.
"I'm more than just thinking about it, he is a clear choice" Dr Erskine states.
"He's just a kid," he says looking at him struggling to do push-ups. "You stick a needle in his arm is gonna go right through him"
"We're looking for qualities beyond just physical.. we need an honourable man" you explain looking proudly at Rogers who's still struggling, but refusing to give up.
"What would you know of honourable men?" Phillips asks.
"I've seen my fair share of men like Hodge... But Rogers reminds me of someone from back home.. someone willing to do good" you smile, thinking of Loki and Thor.
"You don't win wars with niceness Jones.. you win it with guts" he grins. As he takes a grenade throwing it onto the field.
All the soldiers seek shelter.. except Rogers he throws himself over the grenade shielding himself. Protecting his fellow soldiers...
You smile at him as the men realize it's a fake. " you were saying, Colonel Phillips?" You tease.
"Back in formation" Phillip demands. "He's still skinny," he says before walking away.
You reach out your hand to help Rogers up. You pull out his file.
"So Steven Grant Rogers.. From Brooklyn" you say reading from the file. Turning the pages. "New Jersey..or is it Boston?" You smirk.
"I can explain Miss.." he says but you interrupt him before he can.
"It appears we've had five attempts from a Steven Grant Rogers from five different cities.. so who are you?" You ask.
"I'm Steve from Brooklyn, but you might not have the right fi-" he tries explaining but you interrupt him again
"It's not the files I'm interested in.. it's the five attempts" you smile kindly. Packing away the file."So Steve from Brooklyn.. do you want to kill nazis?" You ask.
"Is this another test?" He asks scared to say the wrong thing.
"Yes" you say honestly.
"I don't want to kill anyone. I don't like bullies. I don't care where they are from miss" he says truthfully.
"Good answer" you smile. "And please just call me Agent Jones.. Miss makes me feel so formal" you say.
"Alright mi-" he stops himself. "Agent Jones" he corrects himself
"Now follow me, Rogers.. we've got big plans for you"
