Chapter 20

Taehee's POV

"Would everyone like to stop staring at Ms Kim and look at the front?" I shut my eyes for as second, hoping that they would just look away but of course they didn't.

All morning long I've been getting strange stares, from classmates, sunbaes, hoobaes and even teachers.

We had a week off from school so everyone was surprised when they saw me.

Hani even choked on water when the teacher asked me who I was and then I replied 'Kim Taehee'. It was actually quite amusing to see everyone stunned by my new looks, it was crazy to notice the difference between how they treated me before and now. Solbi said she liked how I looked, she said I looked pretty either way.

By second period everyone was treating me like a Queenka, respected and like royalty.

The boy sitting beside me who usually snickered or treated me like trash was obviously moving his seat closer to me every two minutes.

He threw a sticky note on my desk. I picked it up and read it.

Hey beautiful, wanna go out with me sometime? ;)

I scrunched my face up into disgust. I turned to him and shot him a fake smile. "I'm sorry guys like you who choose looks over personality disgusts me so much. So maybe you should fix your personality before asking me out." I hissed.

This was how the boys treated me now. So far about four boys have confessed to me, claiming that they liked me even before I changed my looks. Most girls had changed their attitude to me as well, they were simply nice and would stare at me, then compliment me on pretty much anything.

Jimin would often stare at me but say nothing, he was too busy with Jinae. They were giving each other notes and quietly giggling to themselves.

Class was slow and awkward, the guy next to me was quite persistent and no one in the class was listening in the first place. Jimin and Jinae were in their own little world, Solbi was bluntly texting someone, probably her boyfriend while everyone seemed to be staring at me.

Mr Kim sighed and dismissed our class for lunch early, he was frustrated with our class.

Solbi ran up to me and linked our arms together. "Let's go." She said, stretching out the 'o'. I smiled and laughed at her childish behaviour.

"Yah Kim Taehee!" Solbi and I stopped, turned around and frowned.

"What do you want Kang Hani?" Solbi asked, not sounding slightly interested. Hani scoffed, "so what now that you look a tiny little decent, you think you can walk around the halls like a queen? I heard from a little bird that even one of the Kingkas have an eye out for you? So how much did it cost to get plastic surgery?"

Everyone in the hallways was staring at us now. Hani still scared the heck out of me but don't get me wrong, I wasn't as scared as before.

"It costs nothing, unlike that nose of yours." A voice called out in the crowd. Everyone including me widened their eyes. Hani's mouth dropped and she was trembling,

"J-Jimin Oppa, V O-oppa." She stumbled and stepped back. Taehyung sighed heavily and glared at her, "didn't I tell you to stop messing around with Taehee!" Everyone was taken back, Taehyung was usually the affectionate and loving type of person.

"Don't worry Taehee, Taehyung and I will handle it. I'll protect you no matter what happens."

Jimin interlaced our fingers as people around us giggled, "they're both so perfect together." A girl giggled in the crowd.

Another girl hit the first girl's shoulder. "Yah I thought you wanted Jinae sunbae to end up with Jimin."

The first girl sighed and frowned as she tilt her head over.

"I don't know why but I feel like Taehee sunbae and Jimin sunbae have more of a connection. Jinae sunbae and Jimin sunbae dated when I was in middle school with them as their hoobae, but they kind of were an awkward couple, they seemed more like friend you know?" I unconsciously smiled.

There was one person who supported our relationship. Even though we weren't dating, my feelings for Jimin kept growing but I wasn't surprised, he was quite loveable.

But going back to the situation, it was getting more intense and intimidating by the second. Taehyung looked like he was ready to snap Hani's neck in half; which as most interesting to see happen, I didn't want Taehyung to get in trouble again.

I walked up to Taehyung, dragging Jimin along and tugged on his shirt. "Taehyung ah come on let's just go."

He sighed but listened anyway. Before we left he gave one last warning glare to Hani.

"Don't mess with the people I care about." Taehyung spat at Hani, with a cold glare and stern voice. Taehyung turned to us and smiled brightly with his infamous rectangle smile.

"Let's go eat."

Talk about a personality turning 360 degrees.

_______________________________

We all ate lunch and laughed heartedly. We all sat in a large circle in one of the unused classrooms. There were 7 of us: Jimin, Taehyung, Jungkook, Solbi, Minji, Minji's friend Yeri and me.

Taehyung was speaking an unknown language as usual and for some reason I could understand everything he was saying.

"Trohs si nimij." Taehyung laughed as he spoke his alien language.

I sighed and flicked his forehead, "don't tease Jimin. He's not that short." My words trailed as I had no right to speak. I was barely shorter that Jimin and everyone knew that.

Solbi clapped her hand together, amazed. "You both are definitely related. His the heck did you know what V was saying?"

Taehyung and I looked at each other cheekily, knowing that we were both thinking the same thing. "When Taehee and I were kids, we were playing on a corn field. Soon after that aliens took us home to their planet and we learnt to speak their language.

Everyone stayed quiet and there was a moment of silence which was quickly replaced by the roaring sound of our laughter.

As everyone laughed my phone rung. I checked my phone while everyone was busy.

Hoseok had sent me a text.

[Yah wanna hang out after school? I'll pick you up, I don't have to help write a song since Suga hyung ran away.]

I chuckled at his message and gave a sweet smile before it changed quickly, finally releasing the second part of the message wasn't a joke.

"Eh!" Everyone stopped laughing and looked at me worried.

"Taehee what's wrong?" Jimin asked worriedly as he checked my temperature and messaged my temples to relief any possible headaches.

I gave a quick smile to Jimin, "I'm okay but Yoongi ran away." Jimin , Taehyung and Jungkook sighed in relief, "oh I though something bad happened. So Solbi ah give me a kimbap!" Jimin said, acting as if nothing had happened.

I hit Jimin's head and frowned, "yah Oppa aren't you worried your hyung?"

Jimin pouted and rubbed his head. "Suga hyung already told me he was going to run away since manager hyung is forcing him to write another song for a stupid future comeback."

The other boys nodded agreeing with the statement.

Solbi and Minji hit Taehyung and Jungkook on the head as the same time I hit Jimin. "Yah aren't you guys worried about your hyung?!"

All three boys yelped in pain simultaneously.

"I didn't say anything why did I get hit." Jungkook whined.

We three girls snickered while Minji's friend helped rub Jungkook's head. I knew Minji was burning with jealously but the good kid she was, she didn't want to kick up a fuss and ruin Jungkook's day. It was kind if obvious he had a crush on Minji's friend.

Shortly lunch time ended and everyone split up into their classes. I had gym with Jimin, Taehyung and Solbi but it wasn't co-ed gym class.

The girls usually only played volleyball or netball but I guess everyone including the teacher was sick of doing everything the same so we just watched the boys play soccer.

I sat under a shady tree with Solbi as we watched Jimin's team play against Taehyung's team. Most the girls squealed every time Jimin or Taehyung did anything. So far Taehyung's team was wining with 3 to 2.

Solbi nudged me, "yah aren't you going to cheer for your boyfriend?" I blushed and nudged her back.

"He's not my boyfriend."

She scoffed, "my mistake. Aren't you going to cheer for your future boyfriend?" She grinned teasingly and wiggled her eyebrows.

"Yah stop it, you look so creepy right now."

Solbi rolled her eyes and squatted like an old man, "Solbi sit properly!" I said, pushing her down a little. "Can I have my Seungri edition back yet? I miss my panda." She whined. I smirked and shook my head.

She rolled her eyes again and pointed to my side.

Jinae was approaching us with a fake smile.

"Taehee can I speak with you please?" She said in a sweet, innocent voice that probably drove boys insane. Jinae was really pretty, not fake but naturally. It was no surprise that she went out with Jimin.

I nodded and stood up. Solbi reluctantly let me go since she though Jinae would do something.

We walked over closer to the soccer field where there was no fence so I was a little anxious about whether this was the safest place to talk. I pretty much flinching every time I heard someone kicking the ball.

Jinae stared at the court for a second until I realised she was staring at Jimin.

She turned around and stared at me. "So I didn't want to do this but I think you should leave Jimin alone. As you should know, we dated in middle school and now we might be getting back together."

I accidentally scoffed loudly, I covered my mouth and cursed quietly.

Well I'm dead now.

"I know you might think you're important to Jimin but I know it's only as a good friend and since you're V's sister." I stayed silent, it's true.

My lips twisted into a sad frown and my eyes shook. Jinae laughed, "did you really think Jimin might actually like you? Don't get ahead of yourself just because you're a little pretty. Deep inside you're still Kim Taehee, the lurking shadow that everyone despises."

It went silent.

What could I say?

Why would Jimin like me?

Who would even accept me when I used to look like a nerd?

"Watch out!" We both looked to our side and watched as a soccer ball was flying towards us. There was no point of moving, it was only about a metre away from us.

The ball hit me and the pain spread through my body as I groaned in pain. My leg was bleeding since it was scraped. Jinae was pulled away just in time but I guess no one was close enough to help me.

I looked up to see the person who saved Jinae. As I met eye contact with Jinae's saviour I quickly regretted it,

My lips parted and my heart hurt, way more than my leg. He was holding onto Jinae's waist, his arms snaked around her thin figure. We stared at each other without saying anything.

Jimin chose to save her instead of me.

Jinae looked at me and smirked before turning to Jimin. "Jiminie thank you." She said holding his hands that were firmly holding her.

That smirk looked like she had won something like a trophy.

That's when everything hit me. I can't beat an ex girlfriend.

He let go of Jinae's waist and went to me, "Taehee are you okay?" He asked, checking out my scrape. I stayed silent.

I swatted his hands away and gave a fake smile, "I'm okay, go help your girlfriend." The teacher and most of my classmates came running over to us and asked if I was okay. Solbi and Taehyung ran over to me, pushing everyone aside.

They were acting as if I was hit by a truck.

Jimin stood there, dumbfounded. I couldn't even look at him, he said he would protect me no matter what happens but I guess Jinae beats me.

Taehyung moved my foot slightly and I yelped in pain. "I think you might've twisted your ankle when you fell down." He said and pat my head, "I'm sorry for not being quick enough to save you."

I smiled, "it's okay."

"Can someone carry her to the infirmary?" The teacher asked, Jimin was obviously going to say he could do it until someone interrupted.

"I can do it, everyone else can continue playing." We turned around, everyone widened their eyes as the girls screamed out loud. I felt myself being lifted off the ground as girls squealed even louder. He picked me up bridal style, bring careful not to move my leg.

I winced a little, "yah Jung Hoseok what are you doing?"

Hoseok grinned. "Come on, let's go." He said running off. I took one last glance at Jimin who was burning with rage.

When we were in the infirmary there wasn't one there. He sighed, knowing that we needed to wait. "I guess instead of hanging out and shopping today, we could always sit and be lazy while watching korean dramas."

I grinned.

"Good I want to watch 'Shut Up Flower Boy Band', Sung Joon is so good looking in it." I said imagining Sung Joon. Hoseok laughed, "I thought you like Song Joong Ki." I flicked my hair back and smirked.

"I can like both." He rolled his eyes and scowled. "Geez you and your actors."

We laughed and giggled.

"Are you okay?" He asked.

"I'm okay, it's just a little painful."

"No about Jimin, I saw what happened."

"I'm okay."

Hoseok sighed and pulled me into his chest. "Just cry, when you say I'm okay, I know you want to cry."

I laughed. "You know me so well."

The tears that were brimming in my eyes, fell into his chest. He hugged me tighter and it slowly trickled down my face.

I let out a small cry.

If he had to pick who to protect then of course it'd be her. I suppose Jinae is more important to him than me. He's still in love with her.
