Chapter 9

00:52, 18 September 2021

"That's him!" Wally exclaimed as he sat in a wheelchair.

Cisco hummed, "Lerox Wright. Born in Star city, moved to Central City after getting accepted to CCU."

"Central City University, that's where I go," Wally explained.

"So now we know that he was here when the particle accelerator exploded," Iris confirmed.

"The only question is what beef he had with you?" Cisco turned around in his office chair, hungry for the drama.

Caitlin playfully rolled eyes, though she was dying to know as well.

However, being the selfless doctor she was, Caitlin ended up saying, "you don't have to tell us."

"Actually," Savitar interrupted, "knowing the root cause of your problem could help us. I mean as heroes and stuff," he shrugged and Caitlin shook her head.

Wally smiled, "I know what you guys want, but honestly," he paused to cough, "it's nothing juicy. I just created a better model than him and won the state fair."

"Wow," Joe said, impressed.

"Okay, then, let's get this show on the road," Barry said as he flashed into his suit.

"I wanna come too," Wally tried to get up, but then fell back into his wheelchair.

"No way in hell is that happening," Joe said sternly.

Wally rolled his eyes, "I'm a speedster too! And I need to get payback."

"Look at yourself," Joe raised his voice, "you can barley get up! You'd just be holding them back."

"Oh yeah? And how would you know that? We only met today!" Wally yelled back, not meeting Joe's eyes.

"Other than everything your dad said, you don't have a suit and everyone knows the first thing about being a superhero is the suit," Cisco pointed out.

"I'll just wear a mask or something," Wally mumbled.

"Uh, no way. Not when you have the best mechanical engineer right here in the building."

"Damn, nobody told me Felicity was visiting," Savitar said casually.

"Don't listen to him, he doesn't know sh*t. Oops, can I swear around you?" Cisco asked and Wally laughed.

"Wait, you'd really make me a suit?"

"Of course, bud."

All of a sudden, the computers beeped and Cisco ran to the them.

"Um, it's Lerox."

"Where is he?" Savitar asked.

"Right outside CCPD."

"He probably followed me there," Wally concluded.

Barry, Savitar, Ron, and Frost quickly got to CCPD to find people running in all different directions.

"You'd think the police department would be a safe place," Frost smirked.

A large man who wore green iron-like gloves stood out like a sore thumb. He caught sight of the four and laughed.

"I remember when people were scared of me," Barry sighed.

"That was never a thing," Savitar argued.

"Yeah, people do seem to not care about you," Ron agreed.

"Lerox Wright," Frost shouted, and his smile quickly vanished at the sound of her loud, icy voice, "it's time to end your little game."

"Her on the other hand..." Ron smiled.

Barry simply rolled his eyes, tired of his teammates.

"I'm not trying to harm anyone, I just want Wallace West," he said with his hands up.

"Why? 'Cause you lost some stupid contest. Let me tell ya something," Frost said, "there's more to life than just school, you know?"

"It's not about the contest!" He blasted some sort of vibration toward Frost, but luckily Savitar moved her out of the way.

"Look," Barry tried to calm Lerox down, giving Frost a cold glare, "I know you're hurt and angry, but don't let that get the best of you. We can help you."

"I don't want to be helped!" He sent another set of vibrations toward them and the four heroes tried their best to deflect.

It was hard to fight tiny molecules that they had no idea about.

"How are we going to handcuff him if we can't even get close?" Frost asked.

"We don't need to. What if Savitar or Barry run toward him and get a sample of his blood? We can get Caitlin to analyze it and find a cure for Wally, that's our priority anyways," Ron suggested.

Before anyone could object, they heard a scream for Lerox.

"Fight me, you fools!"

"If it's a fight he wants," Savitar's eyes flashed with lightning, "a fight he'll get."

The speedster ran toward Lerox and threw in a few good punches before Lerox grabbed hold of his hand and threw Savitar to the side.

"Thanks," he smirked, then walked away.

A few seconds later, Barry was by Savitar's side, "you okay?"

"I'm fine," Savitar groaned, "why didn't you run up to him?"

Barry shrugged, "we got the sample."

Back at the lab, Caitlin was examining any wounds Savitar may have had. She forcefully dabbed some rubbing alcohol to his cut and he winced upon the touch.

"What gives?"

"What gives?" She repeated, "what gives? What the hell happened out there?"

"We tried to fight a meta?" Savitar answered, clearly confused at her sudden cold words.

"No, Ron had a plan and you didn't follow it."

"His plan was dumb. We could've also gotten Lerox's blood sample and a whole bunch of other tests if we had him here physically."

Caitlin rolled his eyes, "you may be right, but you know that's not why you did it. Ron has been with us for more than a month now, and you still don't trust him."

"I-" Savitar sighed, "I'm sorry."

"I'm not the one you should apologize to." She caressed his cheek, "today could've been different, if you don't trust the team, someone could get hurt."

She walked out of the medical bay and Savitar sighed again. He ran out of the lab and hit a nearby tree trunk to get his anger out.

"Urgh," he squirmed in pain. The odd thing was even after a few seconds, the pain still lingered, "what the hell?" He whispered to himself.

He ran back to the lab to find everyone surrounding Caitlin.

"His meta human power is making others sick," she explained simply, "he releases these toxins that corrupt a person's immune system."

"So, he gives people the flu?" Iris asked.

"Think the flu but a hundred times worse," Caitlin answered, "I mean look at how it affected Wally, a speedster."

"Is there a cure?" Joe asked, worried for his son.

"There could be some antibiotics that can be created but I don't know if it's airborne or direct contact."

"It's direct contact," Savitar said and everyone turned their head to him.

"How do you know?" Barry asked.

"I just do," he looked at Caitlin, "trust me."

Caitlin nodded, "well then, I guess you should go catch our meta."

Ron, Savitar, and Barry arrived at CCPD to find Lerox loitering around.

"He doesn't know where to go," Ron stated.

As soon as Lerox saw the three, his eyebrows furrowed in anger and he ran to them, "give me Wallace West!"

Savitar and Barry ran out of the way while Ron stayed put, "you need to learn to slow down. Life isn't about fighting or getting revenge."

However, Lerox didn't want a therapy session. He ran at full speed toward Ron and in their intercoms, they heard Iris.

"Don't let him touch you!"

Savitar entered the speedforce and watched as Lerox slowly ran to Ron who's face showed no sign of fear. He ran in front of Ron, allowing Lerox to hit him instead.

Just in time, Barry handcuffed a very confused Lerox and looked at Savitar, "are you okay?"

Savitar nodded, "fine." He was lying. Not only had Lerox touched him twice with his toxic virus, Savitar felt the toxins flowing through his blood, and suddenly all he saw was black.

********

The anti-hero speedster woke up to find the familiar medical bay bright light blinding his sight. He grimaced and turned his head to the side to find Caitlin.

"What a sight to wake up to."

"Oh, shut up," she rolled her eyes but smiled, cheeks slightly turning pink. Seeing her smile made Savitar smile too.

"So, am I cured doc?" He found her hand on the bed and intertwined it with his.

"Yes, yes you are."

"Always saving my life," he pecked her lips.

"It is kind of my job. What you did today ... I'm proud of you."

They smiled at each other in comfortable silence before Ron entered the room and cleared his throat.

"We're kind of busy," Savitar answered.

"No, we're not," Caitlin shook her head and left the room.

"Thank you for saving my life," Ron started.

"It's not a big deal, is Wally doing good?"

"Yeah, he's cured and everyone's having dinner at Joe's place."

"Dinner? How long was I out for?"

"Two, maybe three hours. Caitlin was by your side the entire time."

Savitar smiled, "yeah, I'm lucky to have her."

"She's lucky to have you too."

An awkward silence fell between them.

"Uh, so, I guess I'll get going," Ron said as he got up from the chair he was sitting on.

"Ron?" Savitar called out.

Ron turned around, "yeah?"

"Try and not be a therapist for every meta we meet."

Ron looked down and smiled, "take care, Savitar."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A double update? This one's a long one so I hoped you liked it.

Oh my God, Savitar and Caitlin small little glances, I honestly feel like this is how it'd be if they were actually together in the show, we were robbed!

QOTC: Out of all of Caitlin's love interests, who'd you like best?My answer: Julian because of their cute little arguments and how they made each other a better person. I honestly wished we got to see more of them :(
