Chapter 7

05:41, 2 September 2021

"Ahhh, son of a bi-" Savitar started before another icicle hit him.

"What happened to 'oh, I'm the God of speed, no one can touch me?' Pathetic," Frost smirked.

The metas of Team Flash were fighting each other under the name of 'training'.

Barry laughed, "now, that's how it feels!" Before he could properly enjoy his amusement, Frost threw another icicle that hit Barry in the thigh and he squirmed in pain.

"Oh, Barry Allen, when will you ever learn? And you call yourselves speedsters," Frost laughed.

"This isn't fair," Savitar pushed up from the ground.

"For someone who's scared to hurt Caity, you sure do hurt her a lot," Frost taunted.

Though many tried to forget about the fight that had happened earlier in the week, some, like Frost, didn't want to.

Savitar boiled in anger. He squinted his eyes to concentrate and threw a lightening bolt toward Frost which terribly missed.

Frost created another icicle, "anybody else wanna try?"

"I'll have a go," the three turned around to find Ron.

"Damn, fire verse ice! Now this is what I call a fight!" Cisco squealed as he stood behind the computers watching their vitals with Harry. "Who you betting on?" He asked Harry.

Harry rubbed his chin in deep thought, "it could go any way. Frost is the exact opposite of Firestorm in every way possible like Batman and Joker if they had powers. We also haven't seen this young man's powers in action, who knows how different it is from the Firestorm of this Earth."

Cisco looked shocked, "Batman and Joker?"

"What? You don't have the Batman movies on your Earth?"

"We do, just didn't think you'd know it."

Harry rolled his eyes in response.

The temperature in the room dropped as Frost absorbed her surrounding heat energy.

"You sure you wanna do this?" Her icy voice boomed through the room.

"My wife and I started on the wrong foot actually. It was only after I defeated Crystal that we became partners."

Frost's mouth frowned for a split second before she smirked, "Crystal, huh? Shame," she threw an icy blast that hit Ron who flew across the room, "I guess I forgot to tell you that I'm nothing like her."

"Yes!" Everyone looked at Harry who had his hands in the air. Cisco raised his eyebrows in amusement. "Don't look at me like that," Harry cleared his throat.

Ron stood still for a few seconds and Frost smiled. She turned her back to him and faced Barry and Savitar.

"And that's how it's done, boys. Now who's gonna buy me some Baskin-Robbins?"

Before anyone could answer, Frost fell forward with a grunt, "what the hell?"

She got back up, face red in anger.

The team looked at the cause for Frost's destruction and saw Ron who had his hands up.

He smiled, "you're strong, Frost, maybe stronger than everyone here, but you need brains to your brawn. You don't slow down and think, that's your weakness."

"Well damn, I'll be," Cisco laughed but then stopped when Frost gave him a cold stare, "uh, I think there's something wrong with the satellites, don't you, Harry?"

"Stop blabbering, Ramon. I checked them this morning they're fin-" Cisco pulled him away by the sleeve and they left the room.

Ron walked over to Frost who was still on the floor and gave her a hand. She smiled but got up on her own.

"Not bad, it's good to know I have at least some sort of competition here."

"Can we get Caitlin back?" Savitar asked and Barry playfully elbowed him.

"What?" Savitar whispered, "we were all thinking it."

"After I get my ice cream," Frost demanded.

As promised, she let her doctor-side out as soon as she finished her mint chocolate chip ice cream cone.

"Argh," Caitlin held the side of her head, "I can still feel the after affects of that heat blast." Savitar rubbed her back in comfort while reading a newspaper.

"I'm so sorry, I didn't know I hit you that hard," Ron said, sitting across from the couple, watching a new show.

Caitlin laughed whole-heartedly, "it's okay, really. Someone needed to lower her self-esteem."

I heard that, Frost commented in Caitlin's head.

Savitar smiled, "definitely agree with you on that one, let me get you some coffee." He stood up to go to the kitchen but Ron protested.

"I'll go, it's my fault after all."

Savitar shrugged, "okay." He sat back down while Ron went into the kitchen, out of earshot.

Savitar buried himself in Caitlin's hair, "how are you feeling?" He whispered into her ear which for some reason, gave her shivers.

"I could use a nice massage," she suggested.

"Really?" Savitar brought his hands to her back and started to massage down.

"Ah, that hits the spot."

She gave her a quick kiss but he pulled her closer for a longer, more passionate one. Caitlin pulled away and smiled, "not here."

"C'mon, he won't be back till a few minutes."

Caitlin bit her bottom lip, then looked up at Savitar's irresistible eyes. She crashed her lips onto his and he almost fell back with the force. Caitlin's hands were in his hair while he gripped her waist.

"Ahem."

The two looked up to find Ron with two cups of coffee, looking to the side.

Caitlin got up abruptly and tried to smooth her hair, mumbling, "uh, thanks."

Savitar sat up with a smirk, "that was fast."

Meanwhile, back at the West-Allen apartment, Barry and Iris were laughing at her inability to cook.

"And that's another one into the bin," Barry tried to throw a burnt pancake into the garbage bin but failed miserably.

"God, this is hopeless. Why are we eating pancakes for dinner anyways?" Iris laughed.

"Because I'm craving some. Here, let me help." He stood behind her and guided her hands to put the mixed dough onto a pan.

Iris turned around and put her hands around his neck, "what would I do with out you?"

Barry smiled, "I think you'd be alright."

Iris frowned, "you know that's not true, Barry."

"But, you have to think of a possible future without me," he sighed.

"Is this 'cause of that newspaper from 2024?"

Barry's looked to the side, not trying to make eye contact with Iris.

"You think that now I'm Mrs. West-Allen, we're a step closer to the crisis."

He stepped away from Iris and leaned on the kitchen counter, "it's not me I'm worried about, you know. I'd risk my life for this city and be proud to do so, but it's - I have this sickening feeling that the date's going to change. Become much sooner."

"Barry..."

"Just promise me you'll won't mourn over me and waste your life."

"We're not having this talk," she put her hands up, frustrated.

"Iris, please, I can die any second of any day."

"So can everyone else in the world!"

"You know it's different for me. You have to face the fact that-"

"Barry," Iris said with tears in her eyes, "I am not having this conversation."

Barry ran a hand through his hair, "sometimes I wish I wasn't the hero of this city."

"Oh yeah?" Iris raised her eyebrows, "and then what would you be?"

"A husband, your husband. And maybe even a dad someday," he switched the tone of the conversation.

Iris put a hand on his cheek, finally realizing what he was worried about.

"The man I fell in love with is one who not only protects his loved ones but strangers too. Being the Flash is who you are, just like being a writer is who I am. I'd never ask you to giving up being the Flash just like you wouldn't let me give up writing.

"One thing I know is that the future is not set in stone, it never is. So maybe, you vanishing will be sooner than we think; maybe it gets pushed back; maybe it never happens at all," she shrugged.

"Whatever happens, this," she pointed to her wedding ring, "this is a promise; a promise that I'll never leave your side, no matter what."

Barry smiled and kissed his wife, "I'm so lucky to have you, Iris."

She laughed, "I know."

Unfortunately, their moment was ruined by an incoming call.

Iris walked up to her phone and answered.

After a few seconds of listening, she raised an eyebrow.

"Who is it?" Barry whispered..

"Savitar."
