Chapter 12

"Ok, I'm coming!" Mabel responded.

She put Waddles down, who she was playing with at the moment, "I'll be back in just a sec Waddles!"

She ran up the stairs and opened the door.

"Yeah bro-bro, what do you need? And when did you get back? I didn't even notice you come-"

Mabel stopped and looked at her brother.

He was staring off into the night, without a single sign of any movement.

"Di-Dipper? Wha- what are you wearing?" she chuckled nervously.

Dipper stayed silent and continued to stare at the stars.

"ANSWER ME DIPPER!" Mabel yelled in anger.

Dipper took a deep breath in, closed his eyes, and let it out.

He turned around, faced his sister and slowly opened his eyes.

"AH! Dipper your eye! Wait... BILL WHAT DID YOU DO WITH MY BROTHER?!" she yelled.

"Mabel, Mabel! Calm down it's me! It's Dipper!" he came forward and hugged his sister.

She hugged him back but then pushed him away.

"Wha- what happened to you Dipper?" Mabel asked as she examined him from top to bottom.

"That's why I'm here Mabel, you see I'm a dream-demkjdbsg."

Dipper slapped his forehead.

"You're a what?" Mabel asked.

Dipper took a deep breath, "I'm a dream- demoshkdb."

"Are you ok Dipper? Maybe I should go get Grunkle Sta-"

"NO!" Dipper yelled, shaking his head.

"Uhhh Dipper?" Mabel said, backing away and headed for the door, "I don't think you're feeling well. I'm going to go get-"

"I'M A DREAM-DEMON!" Dipper yelled, and immediately covered his mouth.

Mabel stopped dead in her tracks.

"You're- you're a what?" Mabel asked nervously.

Dipper sighed, "I'm a dream-demon Mabel. Well, more like seven eighths dream-demon."

"WHAT! WHY? SINCE WHEN?"

Dipper sat down on the floor and motioned Mabel to sit with him.

Mabel didn't know what to do.

Was this all a trick?

Was Bill just trying to get the journal again?

Or was this really her brother?

Mabel sighed and sat down in front of Dipper.

Dipper took a deep breath in and started, "You see at your puppet show..."

Dipper told Mabel about everything.

Starting from his dream at the night of the puppet show, to him making the deal with Bill.

He even showed her all the tricks he had learned and the burn mark on his palm to prove that he wasn't joking.

"And then I came here to tell you." Dipper finished.

Dipper looked at his sister, who was now dumbfounded and speechless.

"Uhhh, Mabel?" he waved his hands in front of her face, "Maaabeeel?"

Mabel shook her head and snapped out of it.

"So... you've been lying to us this whole time?" Mabel asked softly.

"Well Mabel I had to! How do you think Stan would've reacted to this!" Dipper said, trying to reason with her.

"But if you didn't tell us before, why are you telling me now?" Mabel asked, starting to cry a little.

"That's why I'm here Mabel," Dipper said nervously, "I've come to say goodbye, because I'm leaving."

Mabel paused and then it all sinked in.

"YOU'RE LEAVING US FOR BILL?!" Mabel yelled, as more tears fell down her face.

"I have no choice Mabel, I haven't fully controlled my powers yet!" he lied, "And I don't want to hurt you!"

He didn't want Mabel to know the actual reason why he's leaving.

It would probably break her heart.

"Besides, I can't go back! I already made a deal with Bill!"

"THEN FIGURE OUT HOW TO UNDO THE DEAL!" Mabel yelled angrily as she stood up.

"MABEL! YOU'RE NOT LISTENING! I. Can't. Go. Back!" Dipper yelled back, also standing back up.

Mabel hugged her brother.

"no, you can't go!" she said weakly between sobs.

"what will I ever do without you?"

Dipper hugged his sister back, "I'll always be with you Mabel, it's just that you won't know that I'm there."

Dipper looked at his clock and noticed what time it was.

"Mabel, I need to go now. Promise me you won't tell anyone about this when I'm gone. Just say that I was in an accident or something."

Dipper tried to let go but his sister just hugged him tighter.

"nooooo..." she cried out in a sob, now crying on Dipper's shoulder.

Dipper smiled at her.

"Mabel look at me."

Mabel lifted her head up and looked at her brother with her red, wet face.

"You're the best sister anyone could ever have, you know that right?"

Mabel nodded her head slowly as she rubbed her eyes.

They broke the hug and just stared at each other.

"Well I've got to go now..." Dipper said.

Dipper was about to snap his fingers, when Mabel suddenly grabbed his hand.

She shook her head and mouthed, "please don't go"

Dipper shook her hand off and sighed.

"I'm sorry it had to come to this Mabel." said Dipper.

He looked at his hand and stuck out only his index and middle finger.

He closed his eyes and turned his head around.

"I'm so sorry Mabel." he whispered, as he started crying out of his left eye, the only thing that still made him human.

He looked back at Mabel, touched her forehead with his two fingers, and she fell to the ground.

Dipper sighed and looked down at his, now sleeping, sister on the floor.

"It's been done." he said

He lifted her up and and laid her down on her bed.

He put a blanket over her and smiled a weak smile.

"Goodbye Mabel, see you in your dreams."

Dipper snapped his fingers, and he was gone.

It was now midnight and Mabel Pines started to slowly wake up after her brother had put a temporary sleep spell on her.

"Dipper?" she said, while rubbing her eyes.

She looked at Dipper's empty bed.

"He really is gone." Mabel said with a sigh.

She slid out of bed and and walked towards Dipper's bed.

The only thing on it was Dipper's journal and his pine tree cap.

Mabel placed the cap on her head and grabbed the journal.

She looked at the window that Dipper was staring at and walked towards it.

Outside, she saw an empty night sky except for the constellation of the Big Dipper.

Mabel hugged the journal tightly to her chest and started crying.

She fell to her knees and cried for her brother.

"Dipper... why would you think we wouldn't love you anymore?"
