Chapter 8

05:49, 8 November 2017

"And you didn't tell me," Nadia yelled swinging her arms around everywhere.

I knew this was coming. I had to tell someone. I couldn't keep this to myself.

"I'm sorry I just didn't know what or how I would tell it. Nadia you know I'm on the straight and narrow. It was just an in the moment thing," I explained.

Nadia just shook her head looking at me. What is her problem? Why is she getting all upset about nothing?

"Nadia what's up? It's like soon as I told you this you blow up on me."

She took in a breath then exhaled.

"You don't get it do you April? I'm in love with you! I've always been in love with you. You're the first person I think about when I wake up. April I love you, and I'm not ashamed to say it."

No she couldn't. She knew I wasn't into women. This is just too much right now.

"Nadia...you k-" she kissed me shutting me up. I don't know why, but it felt right somehow.

I didn't love Nadia. Well I did, but not in that way. I gently pushed her away catching my breath.

"Nadia we can't. You're my best friend. This could ruin our friendship. We just can't," I said grabbing my things and leaving.

"April? Is that you," a familiar voice rang.

I knew that voice all to well. It was my bestfriend Nadia. After her confession and me rebuffing her we still remained close. We didn't get to talk as often though.

She got a job in Atlanta as a doctor. She's been doing really great. She's well known and she's making a lot of money.

"Nadia! It's so great to see you," I smiled.

She pulled me into a warm well needed hug.

"I really missed you April," she whispered.

I really did miss her too.

"I missed you too," I replied retreating from the hug.

"What are you doing here? How's Mama June? Are you still taking those college classes," Nadia asked piling on question after question.

I laughed loving how she hadn't changed not one bit.

"Slow down. Mama June is the same as ever. Yes I'm still taking my online classes, and I'm here for business," I replied.

"On business? Doing wh-" Nadia was cut off by Janet calling my name.

"Ms. Daniels it's time to g...oh I'm sorry. I didn't know you were talking," She said smiling.

I looked to Nadia to see her whole demeanor change. She then smiled a fake smile introducing herself.

"Nice to meet you. I'm April's bestfriend Nadia."

Janet shook her hand smiling with a glint of jealousy in her eyes, but I knew I was fooling myself.

"Nice to meet you too. Ms. Daniels it's time to go. We will be waiting on you in the car," she said before walking away.

Soon as she left Nadia just stares at me, and it was the one I didn't like. I looked at her with sympathetic eyes.

"Nadia it's not what-"

"April I know. You're not mine and I'm not yours. It's none of my business."

I just nodded my head.

"I'll call you later all right."

"Okay." I replied giving her one last hug.

We then went our separate ways well almost.

"April," Nadia called out.

I turned around looking at her. She then gently grabbed my face and kissed me.

I was in complete shock. At first I resisted, but then I gave in. This was the most passionate kiss I've ever shared with anyone.

It just felt so...so right. Maybe I did like girls. Nadia gently pulled away from me looking at me lovingly.

"I still love you April."

I blushed fiercely my cheeks turning a bright red.
