I waited outside of the bathroom door, making sure that Wooyoung didn't choke on his own vomit. I wished that after all he did, I wouldn't mind seeing him experience a little discomfort, but after hearing the retching noises coming through the door all morning, my heart carried a little sympathy for the lilac-haired boy. But only a little bit.
Eventually the sounds became overwhelming. I began feeling queasy myself and a little lightheaded as well, so I excused myself to get some fresh air, leaving Mingi to guard the door alone.
As I slid open the glass door to the terrace, I inhaled the warm air. It immediately filled my lungs and calmed my uneasy stomach. I noticed that Hongjoong was already reclining on one of the chairs, enjoying the sun. Even while relaxing he looked cool, in a black t-shirt, jean shorts and purple-tinted circular sunglasses
"Hey Hongjoong," I greeted him tentatively.
He acknowledged my greeting with a small nod without opening his eyes.
I installed myself in the chair adjacent to him. Concerned that I was disturbing his peace, I sat silently as well, and allowed the sunlight to soak into my skin.
After a few minutes, he finally broke the silence, "I think that you and Mingi should go to the beach today."
"We should?" I turned my head to face him, but his eyes were still closed shut.
He didn't respond to my question, so I continued by asking another, "Didn't you say yesterday that it was too big of a risk?"
"Well I changed my mind," He sighed, "Especially after Wooyoung spent all night out at the bars. God knows what he told people about us when he was completely plastered. A beach date seems like nothing in comparison."
"Thanks Hongjoong!" I exclaimed happily. "We'll be extra careful. I promise."
"Mhm," He hummed.
I quickly jumped up to my feet and dashed inside to find Mingi before he could change his mind.

"I'm ready!" I announced as I waltzed out of my room. I had changed into a flowy cream coloured sundress and wore reflective silver sunglasses to protect my eyes. I hadn't been able to leave the apartment in days, and I was completely elated, not only to be leaving, but to be leaving with the unreasonably handsome Song Mingi. My boyfriend.
He waited for me by the front door, dressed in an oversized striped t-shirt and faded skinny jeans. He broke into an ear-to-ear grin as soon as he saw me coming towards him.
"God damn..." He mumbled under his breath. His hands wrapped around my waist, drawing me towards him. Leaning down, his lips found the soft skin on my cheek. I giggled quietly.
"Baby girl you look so damn pretty today," He told me, while holding me affectionately. "So so pretty."
I blushed at his praises. The fact that my appearance had made him so happy made my heart want to burst.
"C'mon let's go." He clasped my hand and led me out the door.
"Have fun kids!" Seonghwa called from the kitchen as the front door clicked shut.
The sun shone down brightly as we walked towards the beach. Overexcited by the thought of the saltwater and sand, I skipped down the sidewalk while pulling Mingi's arm behind me. He didn't mind, finding it amusing more than anything. Soon enough, the bright blue of the water appeared down the street.
"Come on Daddy, I see the water!" I blurted out in my excitement. My feet halted as I realized what word had just left my lips.
Oh shit I did not just say that out loud.
My face went bright red as I timidly glance up at him, hoping that he somehow hadn't heard me. But seeing his surprised expression, I was certain that he had. "I...uhm, sorry..."
"Why are you apologizing?"
I mumbled my response sheepishly, "I don't know... I just didn't know if I can call you Daddy when we aren't..."
He smiled and cut me off before I could continue rambling on. "Babygirl, you can call me Daddy anytime you want, okay?"
"Really?" I asked hopefully. I liked calling him Daddy in the bedroom, but something about bringing the name into everyday life made it that much more absolute. I had been wanting to bring it up for a while, but my anxious mind had stopped me every time I tried, worried that he would say no.
His hands squeezed my shoulders affectionately. "Of course Baby, I love when you call me that. Makes me so happy."
"Ok Daddy," I grinned. Stretching up onto my tip toes, I kissed his bottom lip softly. I could feel him grin as his full lips twitched upwards against my own.
I felt him pull away after a moment. My eyes flickered open, suddenly missing his sweet taste.
"Aren't you forgetting something Babygirl?" He grinned at the sight of my pouty face.
"What?"
"The beach?"
A smile reformed on my face. I couldn't believe that I had forgotten for a moment.
"Oh yeah!" I exclaimed. Grabbing Mingi's arm, I started pulling him towards the sand, "Come onnn, let's go!"
The beach wasn't quite bustling yet, since it was only April still, but the sun's heat warmed the sand and could have easily convinced me that it was mid-July. We set up a pair of fluffy beach towels and a large umbrella on the sand, and spent what seemed like hours lying there sharing stories of our past and our hopes for the future. After a little bit of convincing (and a few kisses), I even managed to get Mingi to roll up his pant legs and step into the frigid water. My feet became slightly numb from the cold, but I didn't notice too much. I was too busy watching Mingi splash and kick the water like a big kid.
Afterwards, I settled back down onto my towel. The sun began to near the horizon line, radiating an orange glow over the city. There were only a few people still left on the beach.
"I've got a surprise" Mingi said mischievously, "Don't move, I'll be back in five minutes, okay?"
I nodded, a bit uncertainly. He gave me a quick peck on the lips and then took off back towards town.
I stared out across the water, watching as the shoreline repeatedly approached and receded. As the sun relaxed me and I focused on the glorious landscape before me, I became completely unaware of my surroundings. And I was completely unaware of the two men who were approaching from behind me.
"Hey there pretty girl..." a deep voice hummed from behind me.
I spun around to face two mid-aged men, one lanky with a sparse mustache and the other a bit shorter and chubbier. Both were encroached a little too closely next to me, and were staring me up and down. An uncomfortable feeling rose up in my gut.
"Can I help you?" I asked firmly but not too harshly. I tried not to think the worst of them yet, but my gut was yelling at me to get up and run.
The lanky one spoke in a nasally voice, "What's a pretty girl like you doing at the beach all alone?" He shot me a chilling smirk.
"M-my boyfriend, he's here..." My heart started pounding. I knew just from the way they were looking at me that they had bad intentions. My instinct was to run, but I'm sure they could run faster. "He'll be back any minute..."
The shorter one crouched down next to me, coming directly into my personal space. "Looks like he just left you here, all alone."
I glanced around for help, but the last few people had left the beach vacant. Inside I was starting to panic, but I tried to stay calm, hoping they would eventually leave.
"I don't think there's any boyfriend." The taller one sat down on the towel next to mine. "Either that or you annoyed him so much that he had to leave."
"What do you think?" He addressed his friend jokingly, "I think she looks pretty annoying."
His friend nodded while chuckling to himself, and he leaned further towards me. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck.
"Please just leave me alone," I managed to say forcefully.
The shorter man just chuckled and slid his hand onto my thigh over my dress. I recoiled but he kept a strong grip. The lanky man wrapped his arm around my shoulders, holding down my arms. I squirmed trying to free a loose limb to hit one of them.
"Stop..." I mumbled, slowly becoming petrified from their disgusting touches. The shorter one came in towards my neck and sloppily kissed it, as the other held me down on the towel. I clenched my entire body, trying to ignore it, to tune it out somehow, unsuccessfully.
All of a sudden, the touching stopped. I opened one eye slowly, just in time to see the chubbier man fly five feet through the air and land face first in the sand. His body slumped over in the sand, instantly unconscious. I turned to my right hand side and saw a fist collide directly with the lanky man's nose, bending it in an extremely unnatural way. Mingi continued the punch the pervert until he stumbled over onto the ground. I just sat, paralyzed, watching the scene unfold in front of me like a movie.
Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted some people moving towards us in the far distance. As they grew closer, I could make out that they were dressed in all black. Black uniforms. With police logos. And guns.
"Mingi!" I managed to scream out, pointing down the beach. He turned immediately, letting up on the bloodied man.
"Shit, Y/N we have to run. Can you run?" His voice was twinged with panic. At least a dozen police officers were coming down the sand towards us.
I nodded slowly. My adrenaline pushed me to get up and I took off in the opposite direction, as fast as my legs would carry me. Mingi ran close behind me, leaving both vile men bloodied and unconscious in the sand. I heard shouting coming from behind us, but I didn't stop running. We could never stop running.
