Chapter 1
01:06, 21 May 2018It's almost my 16th birthday, and here I am, sitting in the same cell and chained to the floor. I lied in the same corner that I always did, trying to get some sleep, and maybe I'll be able to feel better. I have grown sick throughout the years, not getting enough food in me. Part of that was that they only gave me a little roll of bread, which they drounded in blood. It didn't taste the best, and I didn't like it but when I got food, I didn't fight them. One day, they'll take me out of my cell and into the back room, where a doctor will check us humans over, to make sure we're healthy, and that happens once a month. At this point, the only humans alive, was the ones they kept in this prison. The story on the outside was that the vampires completely took over our world, and the only humans outside was slaves to the vampires that could afford them. It was like a pound where you could pick out a dog for a pet. Us humans, we were the dogs to vampires, kept locked up until someone wanted us, and being pourly treated until we were part of the family, which never happened. Most kids left the place already, and I never got to see any of them, but the ones that did came back, ended up going in the back room, and never came out. I don't know what they did, or what happened to the humans. That was where I was clueless.
I lied in my corner, trying to have some sleep from not sleeping the night before. The night before, they were having trouble because they brought in a new slave, about the age of three, and the kid kept screaming all night. I lied in my cell, hearing the kid screams, and the guard that watched us during the night, yelling at her, trying to keep the nose level down. I felt bad for the girl, seeing how I knew how it was, to be so young and have this happen to you. It wasn't pleasant, at a young age, or being 15. I lie in here every day, and do what the vampires at this prison tell me too, making it easy for everyone. Over the years, I grew to understand that humans weren't meant to be free, and the vampires are turning the earth into a twilight zone, where the vampires took over. Still, I sit here and watch it all happen, knowing that there's no hope for humanity, unless you get sold to a vampire that'll take care of you, but even that barely happens anymore. I continued to lie up against the wall, pressing my head up against it and barely moving it for comfort. Most of the time, I barely found the comfort, and ended up having sleepless nights, screaming kids or not. I was just about to close my eyes, when the flickering lights of the flames outside my cell went on. "Good morning humans" the guard that takes care of us said, as he and the doctor walked down the hallway of locked up humans. I lied there, as I lisened to the cell doors open up, and bowls were placed next to us humans, then was shut again. I watched as the guard walked up to mine and the key started to unlock. The door flung open, showing a vampire in a uniform. He was tall as always, with a shadown that covered me when he was in the doorway. He had short black hair, that hung a little bit in his face. He had dark black eyes, thay made it look like it was covered in it. He was wearing an officers uniform, with a badge of his right sholder, saying his roll in the prison.
He walked over towards me with a cup of something in a tall glass. It looked like blood but I didn't know that for sure. "Morning sweety" he said as he walked closer, and knelt next to me. He put the glass down, as he sighed and stayed silent. He grabbed hold of me, as he shifted me into a better sitting position. He grabbed the glass as he brought it to my face, and poured it donw my throat. The thick liquid poured down into my stomach, but not giving me enough strength yet. "Hmm, what happened? Getting weaker?" he asked, as he took his hands and brushed it up against my skin, seeing it pale as can be. I wanted to fight him, and move away, but I was too weak to do anything at this point. The guard just watch me as he turned around. "Hey doc, can you come into cell 195? I think she's sick or something" he yelled as he turned back to me. The doctor walked into my cell, with his bag of equipment that he didn't keep in the back room. Usually if we're strong enough, he will take us back there, but I was too weak to go. The guard got up and the doctor took his place, as he examined me. It was all quiet at first, with only the sounds of his shifting entured the cell. "Hmm" the doctor said, as he continued. He pulled away as he rummaged through the bag that he was carrying. "Did you give her a cup of blood this morning?" the doctor asked the guard. The guard nodded as he looked over at what was happening, but keeping an open ear on the other prisoners. "I did. It's like she's too weak for it to even have an effect" the guard said as the doctor looked back at me.
His eyes were still haunting like everyday that I see him. "I think we should try giving her another cup. I know it's breaking the way of the prison, but she's not even 16 yet, so we still can't kill her" he said, as he looked back at the guard. The guard nodded as he sighed. "And we have some families coming, don't we?" the guard asked as he started to leave the cell. "Yeah. They'll be here sometime today, so we got to make sure she's healthy enough" the doctor yelled for the guard to hear him. I lied there, trying to keep an eye open, to show that I was alive still. I would go and close my eyes, but the doctor would shake me awake, making sure I don't die on him. I heard the guards footsteps as he walked back into the cell. The sounds of his feet pounded hard on my head, making it feel like he was stepping on my head. The sound of a bag ripped as a bag full of blood was handed to the doctor. The doctor took the bag from the guard as he poured it into a little plastic cup. He looked at the cup at an even level to his face, as he added some more of the blood. "Alright, let's try this" he said, as he handed the bag of blood to the guard behind him. He placed the newly filled cup of blood in his right hand, as he propped me in his left arm. He gentally moved my chin so my lips would open up a bit, then poured the blood into me, letting me drink it. I felt the warm, red liquid pour down my throat as the cup emptied, and he handed the cup to the guard. I started to feel better, to the part that I didn't feel like dieing, but it stil wasn't enough. "Let's give her a little more. Keep giving her a bit at a time until she's where she was before" the doctor said, as he handed the cup to the guard. The guard filled it back up as he handed the cup back. Finally, and once again, I drank it, regaining my strength slowly.
This lasted for about an hour, until I finally had enough strength to move. I shifted to look at the doctor, as I moved my toung out, and licked the blood off my bottom lip. The doctor handed the cup to the guard as he sighed. "Alright, do you feel stronger now?" he asked, as I just shifted my head enough to look at him. "It looks like she's getting her strength back a bit" the guard said, as the doctor nodded. The doctor fed me another cup just to be on the safe side of things. After my last cup, I lifted up and took a stretch, feeling stronger than ever. "There, can you stand for me?" the doctor said, as he helped me on my feet. I got to my feet, as I started to walk around a bit. It was like nothing ever happened, and I woke up just like everyone else. "You better now?" the doctor asked, catching my attention. I watched as both the doctor and the guard watched me closely. "Should we give her one more cup, to be on the safe side?" the guard said. The doctor shook his head. "No, I think she's good for now. Just keep an eye on her for a while, and if she's getting weak come get me" the doctor said as they both walked out, and my cell door shut and locked. I sighed as the two walked into the back room, and finally walked out of this part of the prison. The door shut and locked to make sure no one got out.
Late Afternoon....
It was late afternoon and a few more families have times in when they're coming to look for a slave. This is probably the last time today that I'll be able to get a chance to get out of here. It's been a while since someone came to check on me, even though I was doing better than what I woke up this morning. The doctor told the guard to constantly keep an eye on me, and make sure I don't get too weak again. A few new people got locked up for today, wanting the same thing as me, to be taken out of here. Weither it was through getting sold, or death, I would give anything to get out. Even though I was glad that it was anoter selling day, I was ready to get out. I was starting to get weaker again, but not enough that I needed another bag of blood. I heard the people walking to their cell gates, and looking to make sure someone was coming. I lied in my spot, trying to get some sleep, but the people yelling kept me up. "Hey, let me out" the teenager across the hall from me yelled. A boy with blond hair, that hung in his face grabbed hold of the bars as he wiggled them, trying to get out of the cell, but kept failing. I lied in my corner, resting on my knees as I watched him continue. The boy looked at me as he spoke. "What do you want?" he growled from the stress and tiredness of trying to bust out. I sighed as I put my head down. "Sorry for staring, but you shouldn't waste your strength trying to get out. It's no use" I said, as I brought my voice down to a whisper. The boy looked at me as he got angry with me. "And who are you to tell me this?" he said. I looked from the boy to the ground as I sighed. "I've been here since I was about five years old, and trust me, I seen people do things like that. They'll take you with the doctor in the back room, and you'll never come out. I don't know what will happen to you, but it's not good' I said, as he looked at me like I was giving up, which I already have.
The boy gave me a glare as he sighed. "Well, they can kill me, but i'm still going to give it my all" he said, as he kept shouting. Finally one of the guards came and opened the door with the first set of families. "Right this way, take your time and don't get to close to the cells please" the guard said, as him and the families walked down. I looked up seeing the guard directing about ten vampires, down the hallway of us humans. The families looked rich and had a great lifestyle of their own. The vampires looked all different, of vary in ages from where I was sitting. One by one, they walked through, examining us humans as the passed by. I was getting covered by their shadows as they walked by. I shifed when a vampire watched me from the door. He was a tall vampire. He was wearing a school uniform and had glasses that sat on his face. I shifted up to look at him, seeing his beating red eyes shine through the frames. He sighed as he continued walking to examine the rest of the humans. I sighed as I shifted to get more comfortable. I closed my eyes to get some rest, when another shadow covered me. This time there were two vampires, one with blond hair, one blue eye, and one red. He wore a vest over a white tee shirt and a couple red belts around his waist. The other vampire had blue hair and blue eyes. He wore a simmular uniform with a tie that draped over his chest, and a little ckocker on his neck. The older one took a glance at me, then kept walking. The blond hair one, just shifted to look at me better. He didn't walk up to the gate, but he did watch me.
I closed my eyes, as I started to feel tired again, but opened when I heard a voice. "Are you ok miss?" he asked, as I shifted to look at him. I saw him standing in front of my cell, with a worried look on his face. I watched him as he turned to the blue haired vampire behind him. "Ruki, I think there's something wrong with her" the vamp told the blue haired. The blue haired vamp turned to look at me again, as he walked up to the cell. "She doesn't look good" the blue haired that responded said. The blond haird vamp sighed as he looked at the other. "Reminds you of the slums?" he asked, as two more joined these too. One was a tall vampire, with long brown hair that was pulled into a pony tail. He had a vest over a white tee shirt and somewhat of a tag hanging from his neck. The other was a green haired vampire with bandages all over him. Also, his face was full of scratches, like a wolf just attacked him. The four crowded the door, as they watched me, all having shocked looks on their face. The one with blue hair called up the guard, as the guard walked over. "How can I help you" the guard said, as the vampires moved for him to look in. "What's happening to her?" the blue haired vamp asked him. The guard looked at me as he sighed. "She's pretty much going to die. She only have a few more months left, then we're going to have to kill her."
The vamp with blond hair looked at him in shock. "What? Why do you have to kill her?" he asked, sounding like it bothered him to know the answer. The guard looked at the family, as he sighed. "That's what we do here. We don't keep anyone over the age of 16, so when they turn 16, we take them out back and kill them. This one here, is getting sick each day, so we probably will have to kill her soon" he said, as I heard the room go silent. I lied there as their shadows casted over me, making the cell darker and colder. I closed my eyes, as I started to shift again to feel more comfortable. I pulled my hands to my chest, feeling the chains rattle when I did, the metal echoed through the room, pounding against my head, making it hurt more. I felt the four of them, just standing there to watch me. I heard shifting from the four, as a deep voice spoke. "This reminds me of the slums" it said silent, not pounding my head that much. I heard a bunched of muffled agreements, as I closed my eyes, trying to sleep. The headache hurt so much that I was wishing they'd kill me this morning, but that's not how this ran. I heard footsteps walking away, as a voice spoke. "Is there any way that we can talk to her in private?" one of the boys asked, but I didn't know which one. "Yeah, I can get it set up and you can talk to her, and see what you think" the guard said, as more footsteps walked towards the cell again. This time it was a short red haired vampire, with a scarf around his neck, and one of his pant legs rolled up. He stood in a cocky position, as he just watch me. He didn't react like the four that saw me first, but he watched for a few, then walked off. Finally, the group left, as the big door shut and locked, and the guard didn't come back. I sighed as I lied my head back down, hearing the kids cry and yell to be taken out. I closed my eyes, and fell asleep, knowing that my time was up.
