Chapter 43

Hello everyone, I would like to tell you that this fanfic is coming to an end sadly, there may be as few as five chapters left, or as much as ten, I am undecided at the moment.  Although there will be a sequel, perhaps.  Depending on what you all comment.  Please let me know what you all think about this.

Rin's POV

Sesshomaru and I have been together in his castle for at least month now since we returned from inuyasha's village, and the betrayal of my brother. I loved being here with him, although we have been training almost every day, except for the last few days I haven't been feeling well, so Sesshomaru has instructed me to rest.  I am not allowed to fight either.  I have been so bored not being able to train.  Although he has been letting me help him with his paper work, and sometimes he gets 'treats' while he works at his desk.  Since being here for so long, there have been a few attacks from those that are after me, well mainly it is one man that sort of wants me as his own.  One because of my abilities, so I would become his number one asset, and his number one assassin as I once was, before I found out what he wanted from me.  Two because of my fighting style, and wishes me to train some of his men.  Three, to be his, and I do mean his, as his woman.  But I hate him, he is a cruel violent, none caring man.  That is why I left in the first place, although I had been receiving a few assignments even after I left.  This man is persistent and do any means necessary to have me. He will send demons, bandits, and sometimes even innocent villagers, that he has put under some sort of demon spell.  I have only met him once, and a man he is, no a demon.  He is a demon, and I do mean demon, but he is nothing like Sesshomaru, not even close. 

I was taken out of my thoughts when I felt Sesshomaru touch my cheek.  We were in the dining hall, and I was eating breakfast, or I was.  My food was gone, and I was just drifting off into space.  I looked at Sesshomaru smiled, when I saw his worried expression he relaxed, and some maids came in and cleaned up, as he and I walked around the castle, and to the stables.

As of the past week he has had me reading about how to command those in our territory, I say ours because I am his mate, and he calls this our land now instead of his.  I think that it is wonderful that he sees me as his equal, but he also sees me as his mate, which sometimes clouds his judgement of us being equals.  My safety comes first, and I understand that, but I worry about him too.  Although I do listen when he tells me that enough is enough now, because I really don't feel one hundred percent here lately.  Today he is taking off and spending the day with me.  I was so happy when he told me that last night, because I have missed him.    

I ran to blaze, and hugged him.  I looked to Sesshomaru and he nodded.  I haven't ridden Blaze in what felt like forever. 

"Sorry boy."  I told him, as I Sesshomaru lifted me up, I sat on Blaze bare back, and then I told him to be free.  He took off running, and I turned my head back and saw sesshomaru smiling at me.  I turned my attention back to what was in front of me, and soon let go of Blaze's mane as he ran, I stuck my arms out, and it felt like I was flying.  I have missed this feeling, the feeling of being so free.  I laughed, when I glanced over and saw Sesshomaru next to us.  He was keeping up, and he had a small grin on his face, which of course he tried to hide, but was unsuccessful with me.  I am not sure how long we ran, and played, but when we stopped we were now closer to the castle.  We had gone pretty far, but we had made our way back.  There was a picnic set up under a tree, and when Blaze stopped and Sesshomaru helped me off, we both walked over to the picnic and sat down on the blanket that was on the grass.  A plain white blanket with a beautiful wooden basket.  Sesshoamru opened the basket and pulled out a bottle of wine, and a bottle of water.  Then there was a nice dish of mixed vegtables, and some hot sweet rolls that I loved so much.  I smiled and clapped my hands together like I did when I was a child, and was excited and happy.  Sesshomaru chuckled a he took a sip of his wine, as I began to eat the food that had been prepared for me. 

After I finished eating we talked for a while about how I was liking it here with him.  I couldn't lie so I told him the truth of course.  I was happy here, it was beautiful and I liked to venture off and wonder around exploring these lands.  Although of course I haven't been able to do that for the last few days.  I was surprised when we were able to venture out today, and the fact I got to ride Blaze, although sesshomaru was with me today so I am guessing that is why I got to go today.  I asked if that was the case and guess what, I was right.  Although Sesshomaru said he could tell I wanted to come out, but he thought it too dangerous for me to go alone, or more like to go without him, so he took today off to spend it with me.  I smiled at that and gave him a peck on his cheek. 

Eventually it was time to head back and get ready for dinner.  While waiting for dinner to be ready, Sesshomaru and I were lying in bed laughing about something I had told about when I was younger and in the village with Inuyasha. 

Inuyasha had gotten into trouble, and I told him that I was going to tell kagome, which he completely freaked out about.  He almost started to cry.  That is what got Sesshomaru to laugh is the fact that he cried because he was afraid of his mate.  Sesshomaru said that that was ridiculous and I glared at him, which caused him to swallow hard, and glare back at me, I won of course.  "You were saying?"  He said nothing, just watched my every move.  Breathing or rolling over back and forth just because I felt like it.  Soon it was dinner time, and I was all excited to eat that Sesshomaru had to keep his hands on my shoulders all the way to the dining hall.  I ate so much food I felt like I was going to pop.  I ate enough for like two of me or maybe more.  I wonder what has gotten into me lately.  Oh well. 

Sesshomaru carried me to our room, and I sighed as he placed me on my feet in the bathing room.  Hot water sat ready in the tub, and Sesshomaru released me of my kimono and then his own.  He lifted me off of my feet, and set me in the tub, as he got in and sat behind me.  I leaned against his chest, and his arms rested gently around me.  His hands on my stomach, and he kissed my temple.  I sighed and closed my eyes, and rested in the bath with my mate.  "I love you."  He whispered in my ear, as brought a hand out of the water, with my own in it.  "Rin?"

"Yes?"

"I would like for you to go see the medics tomorrow, since you have not been feeling unwell all week."

I sighed knowing that I didn't have much a choice at this point.  He played with my hand, while his other hand, his left hand began to create its own pattern on my stomach.  I leaned more into his chest if that is even possible and nodded my head, telling him that I would go. 

We finished our bath and got out, dried off and got dressed in our night time kimonos.  We laid down in bed, and I snuggled into him.  He of course as usual wrapped his arms around me, and held me close.  I could feel him sniff me, several times before I fell asleep.  And I heard him say something but it didn't make sense to me.  "I wonder."  Was all he said, right before the darkness took me. 

When I woke the next morning Sesshomaru was not next to me.  I sighed, as I pulled the sheets around me more.  I closed my eyes and tried to fall back asleep.  I had this unsettling feeling, and it wouldn't go away.  I felt someone enter the room, I was on alert for some reason.  More than usual, but I couldn't get myself to fully awaken.  I felt someone place a cloth over my mouth and nose, I tried to fight back, but I felt so weak and soon darkness over took me, and it wasn't a good one.
