Chapter 36
08:27, 15 March 2015Rin's POV
I woke to Sesshomaru gone, he was not beside me. I got up and got dressed, wincing a few times while doing so, and stumbled into the living room. Sesshomaru was speaking with his father, when I walked in, and they both looked up to see me. Just one look at me from Sesshomaru and it had me smiling at him. All of a sudden I got cold, and so I walked over to Sesshomaru, trying to walk normally, but I knew that Sesshomaru could see right through it, and I am pretty sure his father could as well. Also for the fact that he could probably smell me.
I curled up in Sesshomaru’s lap as if I were a child, as he wrapped his arms around me and held me to his chest. He soon continued his conversation with his father, after he made sure that I was alright. I laid my head on his shoulder as they spoke. I didn’t really pay attention to what they were saying, but I do know that they were speaking of different strategies for defending me, and their mates. Soon I lifted my head from Sesshomaru’s shoulder and looked over towards the corner of the kitchen area. I stared at the woman that stood there, and she stared back with shock in her eyes. She had a white gown on, with blood in her hair, and on the side of her face and head. Some of it dripping onto her gown. I looked away from, grabbing the attention of the two demons in the room, from the reaction I had when I turned away. When I turned she appeared right in front of me causing me to jump a little. Sesshomaru rubbed my arm, and looked at me, and then to where I was looking. I knew that he could sense something, but he wouldn’t know what it was. I placed my hand over his when I saw his claws dripping with poison.
“Who are you?” I asked her, but she didn’t reply, she just stared at Sesshomaru, then disappeared.
“Rin?” Sesshomaru questioned.
“Sorry.” I told him, trying to blow it off as if nothing happened.
“Rin?” His eyes narrowed at me.
I gulped and his eyes softened some. “I can sort of um, see dead people.” I told him and then looked up to make eye contact with him, and he had his left eye brow raised. “You know when you die twice, you kind of are able to do things you couldn’t before, seeing dead people, or in other words, ghosts, is that thing one couldn’t do before, and being a witch only enhanced that ability.”
“So are trying to tell me that was a ghost just now?” He asked.
“Yes, yes I am. I can even get visions sometimes from them, or from objects that I may touch.
“This makes things a bit more interesting don’t you think?” His father said looking at the two of us. Sesshomaru nodded in response, but he never took his eyes off of me. “This has happened to you before?” His father asked me.
“Yes.”
“How do you go about this?”
“Well I usually help them, I try to figure out what they want. Sometimes it can get me into trouble, so I guess that’s when being a witch, and being able to stand my own comes in handy.” Sesshomaru growled a little at that, he doesn’t like it when I get myself into trouble. “Calm down, its fine. I think it’s kind of cool, to be able to see such things, but sometimes…” I trailed off and looked off to the side, away from their eyes. “Sometimes, it is a bit too much for me to handle.” At this, Sesshomaru held me tighter to him, and held onto him, never wanting him to let me go. I sighed, and then looked at the two of them. “Were you two done talking, or should I leave the room?”
“We are finished for now, although I would like to speak with the two of you soon, when you get the chance.” I nodded at his father as he stood to leave. He gave a look to Sesshomaru before walking out.
“What was that about?” I asked my mate, after his father left.
“It was nothing.” He said, as he took my face in his hands to look me in the eyes.
“Does it have something to do with me?”
“Yes.” He sighed.
“What about me?”
“What did we talk about last?” He asked as he looked at me, and there was worry in his eyes.
“Sesshomaru, I love you, stop worrying about everything. Besides, I thought we went over this, all I need is you.” I told him, as I kissed his lips before I stood to go outside and to get some fresh air. He followed after me, wrapping his arms around my waist as he placed his head on mine, as we looked at the trees around us. I smiled and held onto his arms that were around me, and leaned into him. I moved my head to look up at him, and he brought his lips down to mine. I smiled against his lips, and then we both pulled away. We looked back at our surroundings, it was a beautiful day out.
I looked up at him, and then unwrapped his arms from around, me and took off towards the trees. He followed after me, as I ran through the trees. I was focusing on using my powers to move faster than normal, and to be able to sense where he was, or where he would be. I always managed to move away from his grasp at the last second, which seemed to be irritating him, but I was having fun. I was able to feel free, and it was fun. Plus other than the fact of him being irritated he was having fun too. I laughed, and I knew that the sound of my laughter warmed his heart. “Catch me if you can.” I laughed out, as I continued to travel through the trees. He got close this time, real close. I turned around a tree, and I seemed to have lost his presence. Where could he be, and how did he? Then I felt his arms around me. “I caught you, now what is my prize?” He whispered in my ear, his voice getting deeper and more commanding, yet gentle. His breathe on my neck, and the way he said it, caused a shiver to flow through my body, and it made want him, again.
“What would you like as a prize my Lord?” I asked him, with my head held high.
“You.” He whispered, as he spun me around to face him. I smiled at him as I brought my hand up to caress his cheek, and then to trail my fingertips along his jawline. I stopped at his lips and rubbed my thumb over them, as he leaned down to kiss me. I stopped him when I felt something. He looked at me puzzled, and then grew worried when he noticed that there was something wrong. My head hurt, it was if there was someone slamming my head into something. I gripped my head as I began to drop to my knees, Sesshomaru catching me before I hit the ground. He picked me up as the pain increased. He was taking me somewhere, but it wasn’t home, Inuyasha’s perhaps. I groaned in pain, as I tried to remain conscious. I began to chant as I realized what was happening. Someone is trying to get inside my head, for what, I do not know.
Sesshomaru walked into Inuyasha’s and Kagome’s place, as I began to chant a bit faster. I hear Kagome as she asks Izayoi to take Kit to her room, to play. Kagome, Inuyasha, and Inu-no –Taisho, remained with me, as Sesshoamru held me. He placed me in a seat that Kagome told him to put me in. He never left my side.
“What is wrong with her, and what is she saying?” Kagome asked. The three demons in the room, or two demons and one half demon all glanced at each other.
“It’s a counter-spell.” Sesshomaru told them, as he brought his attention back to me. I reached out for him with one hand as the other still held my head. I grabbed his shoulder, as my breathing became ragged. I opened my eyes, to look at Sesshomaru, he nodded and I didn’t hesitate to channel some of his strength with my own. I heard Kagome gasp, I knew that my eyes must have begun to change, I knew they were turning black. My chanting got louder, and soon it was as if the house was shaking. Soon it was over. I gripped my head once more and then came back.
“I am sorry for that.” I told everyone when Kit came running in, she went straight to Kagome. “Mommy?”
“It’s alright baby girl.” Kagome told her, as she picked her up, and began to rub soothing circles on her daughter’s back, as Inuyasha wrapped a protective arm around Kagome’s shoulders.
“Sorry everyone, it’s all okay now.” I told them as I looked to Sesshomaru. ‘Everything is not okay.’ I told him, and he kept it between the two of us, for now. Sesshomaru looked to Inuyasha and his Father, his expression I could not see, but they both nodded.
“Kagome how about you and mom play with Kit for a while?”
“Alright.”
As they went to go play the four of us remained. Inuyasha and his father sat across from me, while Sesshomaru stayed by my side. “I hope the three of you are ready for what’s coming. It may get messy. I will protect them the best that I can, but if they are capable of what I think they are, I am not sure how well it will hold.”
“If you must, pull from me.” Sesshoamru told me.
“You will need all of the power you have, I cannot take from you, I have taken too much from you already. I fear if I take more, it might cause me to rely on it more than needed.” There was more to it than that, there was a hidden message for him to understand. His power, his energy, his being, I rely too much on it, it could drive me mad, or cause me to severely injure him, perhaps even kill him.
“If it means your life, you will take it!” He said staring into my eyes, and then turning it into a glare. “You will not die, I will not lose you again! You cannot be brought back a third time Rin!” He wasn’t asking, and he wasn’t telling me kindly, it was an order, the alpha dog in him coming to the surface to protect its mate, no matter the cost.
I didn’t respond to that, because I knew that he was right, and I was not going to fight with him over this, not now, not with the tone he just used, I knew that I would not win this battle. I took his hand in mine, and he intertwined our fingers.
“Alright, well I believe that the battle will happen soon, so be sure to rest, you will need everything you’ve got. My brother should be helping us out, so with that in mind, perhaps we will have a better chance, and may not have to go all out.” Hopefully, I can only hope at this point. If I use too much of my magic, if I go all out, there is a chance that I may not come back. I could possibly be taken over by my powers, and never be able to return to this state, never be able to be with Sesshomaru. Or, it could kill me entirely.
