Chapter 12: Rose's Recovery
20:44, 7 May 2020As he could see Albus leave with his family, Scorpius made his way to the Hospital Wing. He was desperate to see Rose. Was she okay? Will she be okay? Many of these types of thoughts flooded Scorpius's head until he approached the Hospital Wing entrance. When he approached it, he called for Madame Pomfrey.
"I'm here to see Rose Weasley." Scorpius said to the matron.
"Her family just left. I should shoo you away, she needs rest, but if you must, I suppose." Madame Pomfrey responded.
"Thank you." Scorpius told her, as he briskly walked to the side of Rose's bed. She was still unconscious. When Scorpius laid his eyes on her, they instantly filled with water. He couldn't see her like this! What if she wouldn't wake up? How long would she be like this? Would she remember everything when she woke up. Then, Scorpius took her hand, and started talking. There was no one else in the wing, and Madame Pomfrey was in her office.
"Rose, I don't know if you can hear me, but, listen, you need to be okay. Please wake up. No, you have to wake up. I could never forgive myself if you weren't okay." Scorpius said in a weak voice. He continued to massage her hand in his.
"Rose, you are one of the strongest girls I know. I really hope you can get through this. If you can read a 500 page book in 48 hours, ace every test, and just be you, then I'm sure you can get through this. And if you need help, I will be there every step of the way. I'm sure we can do this. If can get both get E's and O's in our classes, we can do this right." Scorpius continued.
"But, if you do hear me, let's keep this part between you and me. I doubt you can hear me, but here it goes. Rose, you are one the prettiest girls I've ever seen. I take that back, you are the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. Your hair is the best shade of fiery red, and your curls frame your face perfectly. Your freckles shower your cheeks very nicely. And your eyes. Your eyes are the richest shade of blue I've ever seen. They sparkle like I'm looking into the ocean. Rose Weasley, I love you. I have fancied you since we were 11. I don't know if you feel the same way, but I just needed to tell you this." Scorpius said as he kissed her hand.
Little did Scorpius know, but Rose was starting to stir awake. She started coming back, and her vision and hearing started to come too. It was weird, all she could see was black. But then, she heard a dreamy voice. She continued to listen to it give her all these nice complements. Then, the dreamy voice said I love you Rose Weasley. The realization then hit her. That was Scorpius's voice. Was she dreaming, or was this real? She decided that she would keep listening to it for another second. Then she felt something. Something hot. It was on the back of her hand. Was that...no. Yes! It was. Rose's insides did backflips. The boy she fancied had just told her he loved her, and technically kissed her. This was just a dream. There's no possible way that this could be real. So, she decided to open her eyes to see if it was true.
Scorpius then continued to hold her hand, and sit next to her in the chair. He wouldn't move until he absolutely had too. (This meant if her family walked in). But, something caught the corner of eye. Rose stirred. She was okay! She wasn't dead! Then Rose fluttered her beautiful eyes open.
"Scorp?" Rose asked in a very weak voice.
"RoSe!" Scorpius replied very startled, and then he cleared his throat.
"Oh Merlins Pants! You're okay! Thank the lord! You had us all scared!" Scorpius continued, but he let go of her hand. Had she heard him? Would she have wanted to hear what he said?
"Oh, you probably want your family! Let me go get Madame Pomfrey." Scorpius said as he stood up.
"Wait. Not just yet! Tell me everything." Rose pleaded. Now she was fully awake, but very soar. Scorpius was the only one there. Had he really said those things?
Scorpius then sat back down. And he prepared to tell the long story of today.
"Okay, where to start. My stupid teammates decided to enchant the Buldgers so when the hit, they hit hard and fast. So when it hit you from behind, you fell off your broom. You were about 75 feet in the air." Scorpius said.
"Then what?" Rose asked.
"Well, I hoped on my broom, and caught you before you hit the ground. You got pretty hurt from falling in a tree, but if you would of hit the ground, things would be a lot worse right now." Scorpius continued.
"Wait. You caught me?" Rose added with her other question.
"Yup." Scorpius nodded.
"You saved me. Why?" Rose asked, a million thoughts flooded her head at this moment.
"Well, I wasn't just going to let you fall. No one was doing anything about it! We could have lost you! I wasn't going to let that happen." Scorpius said.
"Wow." Rose said, astonished.
"I don't know how I could ever thank you Scorpius." Rose added.
"No. Thank you for being okay. Oh, by the way, you guys won the match. We lost." Scorpius responded.
"Well I knew that!" Rose said with a giggle. Scorpius let out a laugh at this also.
"Wait. How did your team feel after? Did they get in trouble?" Rose asked.
"I wouldn't know, I got kicked off. I hope those gits get in trouble." Scorpius said back.
"They kicked you off! Why!" Rose asked with concern in her voice.
"Yes, they did. For being a good person and not letting you plummet to your death. Don't worry though, I would have quit anyway. I don't ever want to be on a team with those prats again." Scorpius said, but then adding the last part to cure the shock in Rose's face.
"Well. They're stupid! They just lost their best player!" Rose added to her facial expression.
"I don't know that." Scorpius simply responded.
"Yes. Scorpius you are. You definitely have the best sportsmanship. And your defiantly not a bad flyer either." Rose added.
"Thanks I suppose, but that won't do me any good." Scorpius said.
The both continued to chat about the day. Scorpius explained every detail. He also told her that her family was down in Hogsmeade. The only thing Scorpius didn't tell her is the things he had told her about 45 minutes earlier. He didn't know if she'd want to hear all that right now. Heck, he didn't know if she'd ever want to hear that.
While Scorpius was thinking that, Rose was thinking something similar. Did he really say those things? Did I just imagine it all? There's no way. He had to have said those things. Right? Did he even still fancy her? He had to. The whole date to Hogsmeade. Rose kept these thoughts in her head, she didn't want to ruin the moment. Then all of a sudden, Madame Pomfrey came walking briskly toward them.
"Why didn't you tell me she was awake? I have to Patronus her family!" Madame Pomfrey said as she casted her Patronus.
"Well, Rose I'm really glad your okay. I can come back tomorrow if you'd like." Scorpius said as he stood up. He couldn't be there at the same time as her family.
"That would be lovely." Rose said as Scorpius went to leave.
"Scorp, one more thing." Rose added, this was now her chance to ask him if he actually said those nice things.
"Yea?" Scorpius asked as he stood by the door.
"Um...Thank you. I don't know where I'd be right now if you hadn't saved me." Rose said, Scorpius gave her a genuine Astoria smile, and then left.
"DANG IT!" Rose said to herself. She blew it. She would eventually ask him, but she didn't know when. But deep down, she knew that he said those things.
Within fifteen minuets, her entire family surrounded her, showering her with questions.
"When did you wake up?"
"How long have you been awake?"
"How do you feel?"
"Are you soar?"
"Are you okay?"
"Do you need anything?"
"Did you feel anything weird while unconscious?" This question was definitely asked by Hugo.
All of a sudden, Rose wished just Scorpius was with her again. She loved her big family, but sometimes they could be overwhelming. Rose eventually answered all these questions. The next hour and twenty minutes consisted of her and her family talking about the details of the day. James kept going on how much they beat Slytherin. He had a grin on his face the whole time he talked about this. Then, he started to badmouth them.
"You know, if it wasn't for one of their players, I don't know if I'd be awake right now." Rose responded, she started to get irritated.
"Oh, yea." James said with an embarrassed look on his face.
Soon enough, her family started leaving. Then, the only people left were her mum, dad, and brother.
"I can't thank the lord enough that your okay Rosie." Hermione said.
"I know, I can't believe Malfoy did that." Ron said with a very mixed look on his face. He wasn't sure how he felt about this.
The family continued to chat for about another hour. Rose was happy to change the subject about her. They talked about all of Hugo's blocks. He was proud of himself. Then, Hermione and Ron tried to hug Rose gently, (she was VERY soar), and apparated home. Hugo left to head to the Gryffindor Common room. Once everyone was gone, Rose felt a little lonely. Madame Pomfrey wouldn't let her go back to her dorm. She suddenly wished that Scorpius was there again. She grunted, and tried to go to sleep.
*** Rose had to stay in the Hospital Wing for the rest of the week. She was frustrated. She was about 70% better now, that was enough. She wanted to go back to class and Quidditch. And most of all, her study sessions with Scorpius. Well, those weren't completely gone. Scorpius came to the Hospital Wing every day. He came after dinner, which was the usual time that they met each other. When he came in, he had his stuff, and hers. He had grabbed her homework for her from classes, and Lily gave him Rose's textbooks. Scorpius knew that she wouldn't live with herself if she missed a week of school work.
Rose always smiled when she saw that platinum-blond head walk in and sit down next to her. That meant the night would be filled with chatting, laughing, and oh yea, homework. The two laughed all night, until Scorpius was kicked out by Madame Pomfrey. Rose had attempted to ask Scorpius about their "chat" multiple times, but ever time was unsuccessful. She would ask him when the time was right. Just not now. Every night before she went to sleep, she thought of those words; I love you Rose Weasley. They sounded like music to her ears. She just couldn't wait to get out of this dang Hospital Wing!
