Chapter 2: Thinking

17:26, 25 April 2020

The whole car ride home, Rose couldn't stop thinking about what she had said to Scorpius.

"I can't believe I called him Scorpion King!?" Rose had pondered to herself.

"Where is that from, and why is it so cringeworthy?"

Apparently she had lost track of reality. Her mom shook her arm saying that they were home.

"What were you thinking about?" Hermione had asked her daughter, after noticing how deep in thought she was.ย

"Oh, nothing." Rose had responded to her mother's question, but a little to quickly though.

"Don't oh nothing me." Hermione said. "It looked as if you were in dream land."

"Maybe I was.." Rose had said as she grabbed her stuff and opened the car door.

Little did Rose know, but Scorpius Malfoy was thinking the exact same thing. But, maybe a little farther than just the comment though.

"She really talked to me. She made an effort to go say goodbye to me! Maybe this isn't a lost cause!" Scorpius had thought to himself over and over again. Then, Scorpius's mind traveled to a scene with just Rose in it. She was perfect. She had this long, thick, curly, (Scorpius hated to think that it was bushy), red hair. And she had little ringlets that framed her face perfectly. She had the perfect amount of freckles, showing her nose and cheeks, and then, her huge, blue, sparkling, eyes. This is exactly what she looked like in reality too. And not to mention who smart she was! Scorpius loved how competitive she was over grades with him. She probably liked to read too. Scorpius loved to read. (Even though Al made fun of him for it sometimes.)

Once Scorpius conjured this scene in his head, he played it over and over again.

He was in love. He couldn't do anything about it. But, he was in love.ย

Draco had noticed since the minute he had picked Scorpius up from the train station that something was going on in his head.

"What's up?" Draco questioned his son. "You've been all loony since I saw you get off the train."

"Oh," Scorpius said, instantly flashing back to reality. Scorpius put the scene in the back of his mind, hoping to return to it later, then he grabbed his stuff and went on with the rest of the day.

Rose had started to unpack her stuff up in her room. She slipped off her white, high top Converse, (that she may where a little to often), and began to strip her trunk. She kept trying to forget the interaction she had with Scorpius that day, but for some reason, she just couldn't! She was thankful for the distraction of dinner with her family. She informed her parents on anything good that had happened between now, and from the last time she wrote home a week and a half ago. Of course, not mentioning her incidentย  with Scorpius. Imagine what her parents would think about this! Her, maybe liking the son of one of their sworn enemies! All of a sudden, the scene played in her head again.

"Rosie, are you sure your okay?" Hermione had her daughter again over dinner, as she noticed how deep in thought Rose was.

Snapping back to reality, Rose responded with "I'm fine, I promise."

Hermione knew there was something up with her daughter. She had never seen her look like this before. She knew something was puzzling her. But, she chose to let it go. If she was 15, she wouldn't want her mother constantly questioning her about something.

Later that evening, Rose had went up to her "spot" to do some more thinking. Rose's room was on the top floor of their house. The walls were light blue, with a mandala tapestry hanging above her bed. She had Christmas lights draped across her headboard. And a few posters hanging around, including one of her favorite Quidditch player. And another poster of Harry Styles. Rose loved to listen to muggle music, and Harry Styles was one of her favorites. But anyway, to be more specific, her "spot" was a light slope on the roof. Her large window opened to let her sit at this spot. She always went to her "spot" when she had a lot of thinking to do, while she looked up and stargazed.

Her spot was always comfy. She nestled into it, laying on her back and looking at the stars. With fall approaching in a few months, she noticed the Scorpio constellation. Like all her other subjects, Rose was good at Astronomy. This just made her think about Scorpius more. She then pictured the boy in her head. Him. Just looking at her. His platinum blond hair. His silver, mysterious eyes.

"NO!" She thought. She couldn't like him. She hated him all these years. Albus's annoying Slytherin friend, who always made a fool of himself when he was around her.

But, she kept just thinking about him. The warm summer air was filling her lungs as she slowly as she breathed in and out, contemplating the situation. I mean sure, she had crushes before, but she never thought about them like this before.

"NO! I DO NOT HAVE A CRUSH ON HIM!" Rose had to reassure herself. She continued to look up at the night sky. All of a sudden, she heard a rustling behind her. Suddenly Ron had came and laid down next to her.

"You know, its insane to me how beautiful you are." Ron said. And he wasn't lying. Rose looked just like Hermione at age 15. Despite her red hair, blue eyes, and freckles, of course. She had the same face structure as Hermione.

"Oh, daddy." Rose said as she looked up at Ron.

"No, I'm serious!" Ron said as he laid next to her, also glancing up at the stars. Ron knew when Rose was up at her "spot," that she was thinking about something.

"What's on your mind Rosie?" Ron asked her.

Rose had to come up with a lie fast, of course she couldn't tell her dad what was on her mind.

"O.W.L.'s" Rose had responded.

"O.W.L.'s, oh, Rosie, you'll do fine on those. You're on of the top students in your year!" Ron said back to her.

"Well, yea, but I'm still nervous about them." Rose had lied. She knew she would do fine, and at the moment, they weren't stressing her out.

"I suppose everyone is going into their fifth year. I can tell you that I was!" Ron said.

Rose had just laughed at this. Then, all of a sudden, Ron had picked her up like a rag doll, just like he did when she was little. Rose burst out a sea of giggles when he did this. Ron carried her back to her room, and threw her on her bed.

"Now, you should get some sleep. It's getting late." Ron had said as he kissed her cheek.

"Okay, fine, goodnight, love you." Rose had said as Ron had walked out of the room.

Rose wouldn't go to sleep though. She was a total night owl. She loved to say up late, (or was it very early)?, reading novels. Rose could finish a 450 page novel in two days. She was a sucker for muggle romance novels. She would just stay up, and imagine that couple she was reading about have a happily-ever-after. She then continued to read, until about 2:30 am, as she had fallen asleep in her book.

Meanwhile at Malfoy Manor, Scorpius was sound asleep in his bed. He was dreaming. He was dreaming of himself, and a red-haired girl, walking around holding hands in the winter snow.

The girl had said, "You know Scorp, I've loved you for so long." And she then, turned around, and full kissed him on the mouth. The kiss was a nice, deep, long one. The two were intertwined as the snow gently settled in her curly hair.

Scorpius had suddenly jolted awake. He then let out a sigh, because he realized he was just dreaming. But how could he go back to sleep now? Scorpius had gotten up and walked over to his desk. He took out a piece of parchment, and just started to draw. No one knew that Scorpius loved to draw. It was his own secret little talent he kept to himself. He began to sketch roses. Roses all over it. He then began to sketch a portrait of a girl. A girl with beautiful, long curly hair.

Scorpius thought to himself, "Okay, if I didn't like Rose before, I DEFINITELY like her now!"

"But she doesn't like me!"

"Well than make her like you!"

"How am I supposed to do that?"

"Well, look at yourself!"

Scorpius had definitely gotten taller over the years. He was the same height as his dad. But he was lanky. He was tall, pale and lanky.

He looked at himself in the mirror.

"I do look kind of pathetic." Scorpius thought to himself.

Scorpius had read about different muggle activities over the years, and one of them was working out to get stronger. He had planed on trying out forย  Quidditch this next coming school year. Maybe working out would higher his chances, and not just for Quidditch. I mean, if you live in a mansion, your bound to have somewhere to work out, right?

"Well. It's settled then. I'm going to get stronger!" Scorpius thought.

He would set out for Flourish and Blots in the morning, after his dad had gone to work. He would try and find a book on muggle exercise.

"Well, maybe this summer won't be so bad after all." Scorpius had smiled when he thought of what he'd look like in a few weeks, and maybe, just maybe, get Rose's attention. Then Scorpius had remembered he was going to stay with Albus the second week in August. He would probably see Rose then. He now made it his goal to "fix" himself over the summer.

Author's Notes:

I know this chapter was a little corny, but I enjoyed writing it. Sometimes you need those linking chapters. Anyway, I don't know how long my chapters are going to be, and I don't know when I'm going to release them all. Anyway, thanks so much for reading. This is only my second chapter of my first fanfic, so again be kind! And remember to be safe and healthy during this worldwide pandemic! Thanks again!
