part 2: coffee
06:21, 8 September 2019the coffee place seonghwa had chosen was small, dainty and very welcoming, snuggled in between two larger buildings on the other side of town. y/n had gotten there a bit earlier, so he wasn't there yet. settling in to a table bathed in natural lighting, two cushioned chairs highlighting the richness of the wood that made up the table, chair frame, and floor. time passed, and y/n became increasingly nervous. what if he stands me up? what if he doesn't actually like me? did i come to the wrong place?y/n's worries were washed away when seonghwa walked through the door. he looked around for a second before spotting y/n. his face lit up with a wide smile as he walked over and sat down in the adjacent chair. the whole "date" was a blur, just coffee and talking and laughing. y/n hadn't had that much fun in a long time. during the mess of things, y/n was pretty sure that they had agreed to meet up again, and it was quite possible that seonghwa had gotten her number, or maybe the other way around, but y/n was much too dazed to remember any of that clearly at the moment.
upon arriving to her apartment, y/n was confronted by her boyfriend. "y/n where have you been! i've called you so many times," he yelled. "i was getting coffee! you don't control me, god.""what, was it with some other dude? you're cheating on me?""are you crazy????? no!" shouted y/n, confused. "i don't believe you! you've been acting so weird recently i bet you've been going around fucking every guy you see you whore," he spat. "well if you trust me so little i don't think we should be together," y/n screamed. immediately after the words left her mouth, she regretted them. silence. "yo-you really mean that y/n?" said her boyfriend, stunned. "...i mean," she started, "we don't get along anymore. when we're even talking to each other, we're just fighting." y/n fought back tears. "it's so hard to be around you when you suck all the joy out of me.""babe, we can make this work-""no.""what?""i have been trying for MONTHS to make this work. i think it's time for both of us to move on." said y/n firmly. "fine then," he mumbled, his voice hot with anger. "i'll get my stuff and leave."y/n couldn't respond. a single tear that had been held back finally let loose. it trickles along her cheek and followed a path to her chin, where it collected into a heavy drop, and then fell. the boyfriend left, and y/n hoped that they would never have to see each other again. hoped so much that she did an hour long sweep of her apartment to make sure he couldn't make the excuse of leaving something to come back. and he didn't.
