Your Life for Hers

06:18, 24 November 2024

Avisa rose her hands as the daggers came towards her and she tried to concentrate on the ones coming closest to her. She knew some would probably hit her. Her skills hadn't gotten to the point where she could deflect so many small projectiles at once.

Just as she deflected about five of them away from her face, she watched as the others came barreling towards her.

There was a flash of movement and she watched as the daggers were thrown off course by someone's leg.

The daggers clattered to the floor as Avisa's heart pounded rapidly. Then she looked up to see Sanji between herself and Seguaro.

"Sanji?"

He turned towards her and asked, "Are you okay?"

Avisa nodded her head. "Y-yeah, thank you."

Seguaro chuckled and both their gazes turned towards him as Sanji backed closer to her. "So, you did bring someone. I figured you might. It's a good thing I planned on it," Seguaro mused.

She looked at him confused before she saw several other men begin to inch forward from the shadows.

Sanji looked at them and then at Seguaro while he slowly took a drag from his cigarette and warned, "If any of you lay a hand on her, you're dead."

Seguaro smiled. "Now you are ballsy. Tell me, how did someone like you get wrapped up with my daughter's affairs? Who are you?"

Sanji gave him a disdainful glare as he answered, "That's not important at the moment."

One of Seguaro's men came forward hesitantly before he explained, "I recognize him from his bounty poster. He's Vinsmoke Sanji—one of the Straw Hats that we heard about last year, sir."

Seguaro laughed heartily at this and responded, "Thank you, Bonko. Now I know what I'm up against." He smirked at Sanji and seemed to size him up for a moment before he said, "Have you fucked my daughter, pirate? It seems to be the most likely reason you're here. She's pretty, but not worth your life. You should mind your own business."

Avisa cringed at her father's crude remarks and watched as Sanji's eyes darkened and his jaw set. He stayed close to her though and moved a little in front of her again to shield her from her father.

Avisa was a bit worried now. She didn't know how her father had gained new abilities. The floating dagger thing was new, and she didn't know if he had any other new abilities she didn't know about. She watched them nervously before she grabbed Sanji's arm gently and whispered, "Sanji, please don't get involved. I don't want you to get hurt. You don't know what he's capable of."

Seguaro evidently heard her and drawled, "Ah yes. My daughter. The selfless heroine as always."

Sanji gave her a slight smile as he responded, "Don't worry. I've dealt with worse."

She nodded. "Just be careful."

Seguaro then leaned casually against a table behind him and looked thoughtfully at Avisa. "I wondered if you ate the devil fruit, but I'm still a little surprised." He chuckled as he glanced down at James and added, "It was meant to be a trap, really." He held his palm out and a dagger materialized. "Thankfully, I had a backup devil fruit of a different kind."

Avisa and Sanji flinched a little at his action. Avisa stepped forward a bit as she asked, "What do you mean?"

He smirked. "James told me about your little friendship with Natasha and I gave her a choice. I told her she could feed you a tip for me or I would kill her family. She opted for the former."

Avisa paled. She couldn't believe she hadn't picked up on the deception. This whole time Avisa had just been part of Seguaro's game. And though he hadn't managed to kill her, he almost did. How could she have been so stupid?

He sighed then and said, "Well, I think you know everything now, so the only thing left is to complete my revenge." Then he slapped his forehead. "Oh, that's right! I forgot. There's also a group of my men on the way to your brother and grandmother right now to make sure they get a gruesome death. I truly wanted to make good on my promise not to hurt them, but I really just can't have loose ends."

Fuck this.

Avisa finally lost it. With her devil fruit power, she lifted him off the ground and threw him across the room. He hit the large windows at the end of the room with a crash and fell to the floor. She then sent a dagger at him, and it hit his shoulder as he began to get up.

She heard a deep chuckle. "You missed my heart, my dear." She could see blood beginning to soak some of his suit. Then he nodded at the shadows and said, "Now."

Seguaro's men in the shadows began to appear to attack them from all sides. Sanji said, "Run Avisa."

Avisa shook her head. "There's no way I'm leaving you here." Before the first person could even get to them, she flung the guy into one of his comrades and twisted their necks till she heard a crack. Sanji's eyes widened a bit, but he turned to the ones on his side and spun to kick a couple. They crumpled unconscious with one hit of his foot to their heads.

Seguaro's crew looked at them with a bit of fear and hesitated before Seguaro's voice was heard to say, "Don't be cowards now."

Their faces hardened then, and they started at them with various weapons. Avisa was soon surrounded by a group of five. She sent one gunman into one of his companion's swords just as he fired. She caught the bullet with her mind midair and sent it flying into one of the men's arms as he began to swing his katana at her. He screamed in pain. Then she willed him to the ground and slid him into the wall so that he hit his head and it drooped unconscious.

Meanwhile, Sanji whirled and kicked one man in the head. They fell to the ground with a muffled groan. Then he bent forward and slammed a man behind him in his stomach. The man gasped as his eyes rolled back and he slowly fell back and went limp. Sanji rapidly spun as he kicked three others mid-air in quick succession to the ground.

His feet hit the ground gracefully just before he quickly leaned back and dodged as he saw a few daggers go for his head. He looked over to see the bloodied Seguaro making his way forward and then noticed Avisa had thrown two other men into the wall before Seguaro had surrounded Avisa with daggers. She froze as dozens of daggers surrounded her from every angle and she looked at Sanji with a bit of panic.

Seguaro chuckled with a smug grin. "Seems like I have you at a bit of a checkmate, pirate."

Sanji glared at Seguaro. He stood about fifteen feet from him. Just far enough that Sanji hesitated to move at him. He didn't think Seguaro would hesitate to cut Avisa to shreds immediately if he did so.

"I'll tell you what," Seguaro said. "Since you seem to be someone that Avisa cares about deeply, I will offer you a deal." He smirked. "Your life for hers."
