Chapter 7

14:40, 9 September 2025

2 days later

I'm still thinking about the fact Billie told me to keep in touch, buts it's been 2days and I haven't messaged her once, and she hasn't messaged me either. Maybe she was just saying that to be nice? An easy way to say it was good talking to you tonight but that's it.Although, she did tell me to keep in touch, so maybe she's expecting me to message her, I want to, so bad, I want to continue our conversation, I want to ask her how her show went the other night. I just want to talk to her.

I've spent the last 2 days writing my songs for my new album, constantly thinking about what Billie told me, that not everything needs to be rushed and it's okay for it to come out at its own pace. Although I've been writing non stop. I'm going to record a new song today, one that I finished writing yesterday, I just want to see what my producer could come up with, I want to see if he can portray it how I want it to be. This song is fun and flirty and catchy, something that I'm not used to writing or singing, I'm excited for this song and especially this album.

I stop by Ivys room on my way out, just peeking in to see if she's all good.

"Hey Ive, you okay?" I ask subtly sticking my head through the door, she gives me a bright smile

"Sure am, are you heading to the studio?" She asks, looking back down at whatever she was doing on her laptop. I nod my head and say my goodbyes

"Coffees on the way home please!" She exclaims once I shut her door, I let out one loud laugh and promise her I'll bring her back a coffee.

I drive to the studio in significant silence, a little bit of music playing in the background. I decided I would listen to some more of Billie's songs, staring with her album, happier than ever, I've heard some mixed feelings over this album. "Getting older" was playing through my car stereo, it had a simple and almost calming beat to it. Her being a lyrical genius as per usual, the song being quite relatable. I soon pull into the parking space by the studio, quickly grabbing my phone and adding this song to my playlist.

I enter the studio greeting a couple of people, I see Danny already sitting in the seat ready to get started on this new album.

"Hey Danny, do I have a good song for you!" I explain strolling into the studio, I hand him my notepad with the lyrics scribbled all over it. He quietly reads over the lyrics, soon turning to me with the biggest smile.

"Oh this was going to be big, Ember" he gives me a small nod towards the booth, I snatch the notepad from him and head straight into the booth.

(Using Gracie's song "risk" as the song :))

I start singing the lyrics as confidently as I possibly can, expressing every word very well.

After a good 5 hours at the studio, singing and producing the song we've only made it half way but I'm really proud of what we have so far. I pull out my phone from my purse that's sitting on the desk, I haven't touched it the entire 5 hours.Her notification is the first one I notice, I immediately click on it.

@billieeilish I thought we were going to stay in touch? :)

I smiled as I read her message, she only sent it an hour ago so thankfully I don't look like a raging bitch for leaving her on delivered for too long

@emberraeehmmm were we?

I was about to put my phone back in my purse but her message came through quick.

@billieeilishI guess we both just forgot, but we can keep in touch now

@billieeilishFinneas and Claudia are having a small get together at theirs tonight, you should come.

It's like she knew I wanted to see her, I didn't want to seem to eager or desperate though.

@emberraee what time?

@billieeilish 7pm, I'll call you with the address, text me when you leave

@billieeilishWait I don't have your number

@billieeilish Could I have it pretty please ;)

@EmberraeeI was wondering when you'd ask for my number

@emberraeeit's #########Text me so I have yours, I'll text you when I leave :)

Not even a minute later I get a text from an unsaved number, I smile at my phone, she's so good with words and subconscious flirting, she's probably not even trying to flirt but I can't help but to get butterfly's when I see her message.

Billiehey pretty

emberHeyy

I throw my phone back into my purse, if I continuesly text her I'll never get home, I have 2 hours before I need to leave, no I have 1 and a half if I want to get there just after 7. I grab my things and thank Danny for an awesome day and that I'm excited to come back later this week to hopefully finish the song, we've come up with the title of the song 'risk' it explains the song perfectly.I remember what Ivy told me earlier today, I chuckle to myself as I pull into the Starbucks drive through, knowing her order off by heart. I order myself a cold brew. My ultimate favourite iced coffee drink.I hit play on my CarPlay, Billie's next song on her album plays 'I didn't change my number'"I didn't change my number, I only changed who I replied to" I love that lyric, it's so simple, but to me it expresses how she's standing up for herself, knowing her worth and who's actually worth her time.I listen to it the rest of the way home, as I live quite close to the studio. I catch myself tapping my finger to the beat on my steering wheel. It's catchy.

"Honey I'm homeee" I expel closing the door behind me, letting it slam a little I wince at the sound, I had no free hands to grab the door before it slammed, I know ivy hates it buy hey, I bought her a coffee

"Oooo gimme gimme" she says as she comes rushing into the kitchen, snatching her coffee out of my hand, finally giving me a free hand to place my stuff on the kitchen counter.

"How was today?" She asks, taking a sip from her coffee, smiling a bit after the sip

"It was quite successful, Danny loves the song, we're about half way through, we've titled it 'risk'" I blurt out, Ivys eyes not leaving mine focusing on what I'm telling her, she's always intrigued by the production of music, i've never taken her to the studio before, it's definitely something I'll do in the future.

"Oh and, Billie messaged me" I sly into the conversation, her eyes bug out and her mouth drops

"Finally!" She exclaims, earning a small laugh from me

"What'd she say to you? You guys had such a good conversation from what you told me the other night, she's probably like, in love with you" I burst out laughing and Ivy joins me, she places her coffee on the counter to give me her full attention.

"Well.. she messaged me saying I thought we were going to stay in touch, to which I replied with were we? She actually invited me to her brothers place tonight for a "small get together" apparently, I doubt it'll be small, speak of which she actually text me on my way home." I smile whilst grabbing my phone out

"Wait she TEXT you, as in your phone number? And hello she invited you to Finneas'?! Please tell me you're going.!" Ivy tends to get excited over very small things, it's something I love about her, makes my small problems or achievements seem bigger than they actually are.

"Yes my number, she asked for it, and I don't know, I said I will but I'm scared to go by myself, I'll only know her there, I haven't even met Finneas before" I express my concerns, she nods her head like she understands what I'm trying to say.

BillieBring a friend if you want tonight :)

It seriously seems like she's in my head how does she know everything I'm thinking.

"How about you come with, Billie text me offering for me to bring a friend" I smile at her, showing her the message, she can get anxious about going somewhere without being invited personally by the person hosting so I had to show her the text so she knows Billie offered.

"Um hell yeah!" She expresses we laugh and start discussing what to wear and when we need to leave.
