Three

"A witch? Like Harry Potter?" Seth asks confused, because he was expecting something completely different. He didn't think they even existed. But then again there was a fairy here a couple months ago.

"Kind of, I'm not as cool though, I don't have a wand. Can we go inside though? Because it's cold out here." Kai gently pushed Seth back into the house. It's true, it's still cold out. Colder than what she's use to. She normally lives in warmer places, but the Forks area was pulling her.

Seth let himself be pushed back inside. He hadn't even noticed the cold, but he didn't want Kai to be cold. As they walk through the door, the charred wood in the fireplace erupts into flames. Seth springs forward on instinct and pushes Kai behind him. Soft chuckles sound behind him, "It's okay Seth." Kai pats his back and Seth is still not sure what's happening. Kai walks out from behind him and plops down on the smallish couch. She looks at him, the tall lanky boy standing in the middle of the room with a bewildered expression on his face. "Oh, I almost forgot." Kai waves her hand, gesturing to the clothes he's wearing. Seth watches and feels the clothes expand on his body.

He's sure by now that some joke is getting played on him. The clothes grow to fit his body comfortably, "What the hell." Seth stares down at the clothes, and the he looks up at Kai hoping she saw the same thing he did.

"The clothes fit okay," was all she asked. Seth's body began shaking, his body wanting to shift out of self defence. He's a little terrified and surprised is all. His leg hurts though when he does, he just now notices how much it hurts. He goes to sit down next to Kai, who is looking at him with a soft look.

"My leg..." Seth whispers, "What's wrong with it." What if it never works again?

"It got caught in a bear trap pretty badly. I managed to patch it up decently, it should heal nicely though." Kai feels for the kid, alone and not knowing if he'll be okay. "You should be healed by tomorrow." Her healing slave is the best, and she knows it.

"So you really are a witch then?" Seth was still skeptical but he's in no position to judge, he turns into a wolf after all.

Kai grins slowly, "You could say that," some of the fire from the fireplace jumps out of the pit and bounces along the wood floors. Seth sits forward in awe, he watches the fire rise into the air. As the fire swirls upwards, the bottom begins to harden into ice. Once the ice reaches the top of the flame spiral, it stops moving and floats there. Instead of falling to the ground, the ice spiral bursts back into flames and returns to the fire pit.

Seth looks at the fireplace, then at Kai, and then back at the fire. "So a witch then, that was really cool. Are there more witches like you?" Seth was purely going off of his knowledge of Harry Potter.

"Sort of, I'm a grey witch. There are witches who practice only white magic or black magic, light witches or dark witches; grey witches practice either. Grey witches are more uncommon because we never stick to one type of magic." Kai realizes she's making herself sound kind of evil, but she's not. Black magic can be used for extremely good things.

"There are different types of magic? Isn't magic just magic?" Seth sort of understood it, but is the magic a color? Like the actual magic itself?

"Light magic focuses more on nature, so the magic is used with plants and crystals. Light magic is easier to master because the plants are used for a certain purpose. Black magic is harder because there isn't set way on how you do it. Black magic is tricky, it's easy to mess up and have it backfire. That's why most dark witches have familiars, well light witches have them too, I guess." Kai scratches her head, magic is weird to explain. She was born into a long line of powerful witches, she grew up learning the different types like they were the same.

"What's a familiar?" Seth is out of his league here.

"They are like companions, bonded to their witch. They can be normal animals or shifters. Snakes, birds, cats, you name it. Familiars are meant to ground their witch and help them with their craft. They go everywhere with their witch. The stronger connection between witch and familiar, the stronger the magic they create." Kai has seen other witches with their familiars and has wondered what it's like. Having someone else they can depend on.

"You don't have one?" Seth hasn't seen any other animals around or any other people. He wonders why animals wouldn't choose Kai, she's sweet and caring.

"No, the familiar chooses the witch. I have not been chosen." Kai shrugs, she gets it. She is an old witch, from a powerful family. Kai would be afraid to even approach on of her grandparents if she didn't grow up learning from them.

"So no pointy hats and broomsticks then?" Seth didn't see any broomsticks but maybe there was a special place for them. He also realizes that he's stereotyping witches so hard, but he doesn't know much other than Harry Potter.

"I mean, I prefer hats that cover my ears and keep me warm. And I guess I could enchant a broom to fly, but I think I'd just get really fat because I would never walk again." Kai can see herself riding a broom around the house, but then again why stop at a broom, why not go the extra mile and enchant a huge pillow for her to float around on like the queen she is. Seth's laughter shakes the couch, and Kai smiles at him. His boyish charm she's got no chance against. He's good looking yes, but he's so much more than that. He doesn't try too hard to be nice, he just is. Which is something Kai can really appreciate. And he's sticking around for some reason, not that Kai minds, but if she woke up in a stranger's house, no matter how injured, she'd be gone within the hour. "You must be getting hungry, I can start on dinner. Make yourself at home." Kai rises from the couch and makes her way to the kitchen.

"I can help if you need it?" Seth jumps off the couch and follows her into the kitchen. If she's being nice enough to help him heal and stay in her home, then he should at least try and be helpful. He feels silly for it, but if he's being honest with himself he doesn't want to leave her side. He likes talking to her, she's funny and obviously a nice person. Kai is really pretty, Seth's not blind. She's pretty in an earthy way, freckles barely visible on her tanned skin, hair in it's natural curly state.

It's taken awhile but it finally hits Seth. He didn't realize because of the shock he was in, but he's pretty sure he imprinted on Kai. It's nothing like what happened with Charlotte. With Charlotte it was a need to protect, but with Kai he wants to make her happy. He wants to see her smile and hear her laugh. Seth is surprised, in the least, he didn't think it would happen again so quickly. But looking at Kai, it feels right.

"You should try and shift." Kai declares after dinner, "Just to make sure the leg is healing right in both forms." She's mostly confident that she healed it perfectly, but just in case.

"Okay, we should probably do it outside though." Seth puts his dish in the sink, and heads out back. Kai follows with a blanket and almost trips over herself because Seth is already pulling his shirt off. She turns around to give him privacy to undress before he shifts.

A cold nose nudges at her arm and wiggles it's way between her arm and body. Kai laughs at Seth's antics, and opens the door for them to go inside. Seth tries his best to wipe his feet on the mat, causing another round of laughter from Kai.

"Come here, let me see the leg." Kai sits on the floor, with her blanket. She motions for Seth to come closer, and like she suspected, it's healing perfectly. She rubs the top of Seth's head, amazed at how soft his fur is. Seth huffs and noses at Kai's cheek, earning soft laughter. "Wanna watch a movie? It's still pretty early." Kai looks up at Seth, even sitting she's just barely shorter than him. Seth's head dips down, and then back up. Kai chuckles at him, and pats the side of his shoulder.

"Come on then, the tv is in my room." Kai gets up off the floor and leads the way to her room. She enchanted her tv to work, even though she lives in the middle of the forest. She uses the senior living center's wifi form in town. It's kind of like a really long extension cable. She pulls up her netflix account, and begins the search for a movie to watch. She goes slow enough for Seth to read the titles, stopping the read the summaries every so often. They finally settle on the newer Captain America movie. Seth jumps up on the bed as Kai scoots back to where the pillows are.

Seth manages to stay awake during the movie, watching it in his wolf form isn't much different than his human form. He looks over to Kai, but she had fallen asleep sometime during the movie. He curls up next to her legs at the foot of the bed. He keeps his face turned toward the door, even though he knows no one will be able to get inside the cabin.
