Part 6
23:28, 18 April 2023Dream was hesitant. George had just come out of hospital and it was just a few days from his sisters Christmas party. She had invited him and a guest of his choice. He wanted to invite George, but what if he said no? Dream didn't want to think about it. His fear of rejection was too strong to even consider inviting George.
The door opened and Dream turned sharply on his heels to see who it was. He smiled softly as the sight of George's familiar face. "George! Come in." "Dream..." George looked as if he'd just been through an unimaginable trauma.
"George? A-are you ok?!" Dream widened his eyes with concern.
"Dream I-" before George could get the words out he started to cry.
"Oh George..." Dream put his arms around George to reassure him.
He couldn't say it no matter how much he wanted to. He wanted to tell Dream that he was in love with him. The bitter-sweet feeling was becoming too much and George felt like he couldn't take it anymore.
"Dream. We can't be friends anymore I'm sorry..." he pushed Dream away before he could answer and ran out of the room in tears.
Dream stood there shocked. Tears swelled in his eyes and he realised what had just happened.
"What...?"
Unfortunately Dream had nobody else to go with so he did the only thing he could think of.
He went after him.
He had never ran so fast in his life. Down the hall and out the door he didn't even think to put his shoes on. He called after him.
"GEORGE!"
The wind whistled louder as Dream sprinted faster. There was no sight of George anywhere, but Dream was not a quitter. No. In fact Dream had so much determination that he vowed to never let George go again and that was a promise he made to himself.
Dream saw an outline of somebody and decided to see if it was George. He tapped the person on the shoulder. "Excuse me-"
A heartbroken George turned to face him. He had tears rolling down his cheeks and puffy eyes. Dream without hesitation pulled George into an embrace. He made a hushing noise as George tried to pry the tall blonde off him. Eventually he melted into dreams warm hug, realising that there was no escape from this gut wrenching feeling in George's stomach every time he was around Dream.
"Dream..." he looked up and made eye contact with his friend "I'm sorry- ARE YOU CRYING?!"
Tears streamed down Dreams face as he kept eye contact with George. He put his hand on George's jaw and lifted his face parallel to his, making sure George was ok. He leant in to kiss George.
"No." George stopped Dream from kissing him. "We need to stop this." George kept a stern expression on his face as if he was asserting control. His heart was breaking but he knew Dream did not reciprocate his feelings.
"George... come on don't do this to me-"
"NO." George's eyes broke contact with dreams. "We can't keep doing this Dream, it's bad for both of us."
"But why?" Dream's eyes formed tears again.
"Just... stop this." George was becoming impatient.
"Fine, I'm sorry." At this point Dream was in complete tears and he had a lump in his throat. He walked away wiping his tears. George did the same, not without looking behind him to see if Dream would run after him, unfortunately he didn't. George continued to walk further away. Dream turned to see if George would follow him but George was practically out of sight by that point.

George had finally made it back to his apartment. It felt empty but so full at the same time. I guess that's how he could describe his feeling for Dream, deeply in love but a seemingly shallow reciprocated feeling from him. The evening light glazed over his bed almost creating a nostalgic feeling for George. He gently caressed the walls as he strolled along his apartment, reminiscing about the times Dream came to his home. But it only felt like home when dream was there. That's why George knew that he had to break it off with Dream. He didn't think he deserved Dreams love. George struggled to show his emotions anyway it always came out the wrong way.
There was a knock on the door. George turned around hopeful it was Dream. He rushed to open the door. "George!" Wilbur gave his friend a hug.
"Wil!" George hugged back.
"Why is your face red? You haven't been crying have you?" Wilbur's face displayed a high level of concern.
"N-No. what brings you here anyway?" George smiled up at Wil.
"Avoiding the question as always," he sighs. "I can never win can I? Look George if this is over Dream I will beat the-"
"NO- WILBUR ITS NOT HIM I SWEAR!" George started panicking.
Wilbur put his hands on George's shoulders, "I almost believe you." He grits his teeth "I can't believe that he upset you again."
"STOP." George pushed Wilbur away "IT WAS ME, I MADE HIM UPSET!"
Wilbur's eyes widened, "George-"
"No! You do not get to protect me every time something bad happens, I can fight my own battles without a personal bodyguard thank you!" George exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, I will go." Wilbur tuned away and walked down the long hallway of the apartment complex.
George closed the door and fell back onto his chair and watched the tv. He flicked through the channels tirelessly.

Dream got back to this hotel and jumped into his bed. He let it all out, he didn't deal well with losing people. Especially his best friend."
That's when it hit him. What if Wilbur said something. Maybe Wil wanted to get in the way of their friendship because he was jealous. Dream was pissed.
The phone was rang. Dream scurried to pick it up.
"Hello-"
"DREAM!"
"GEORGE!" Dream paused for a second "George... I'm so sorry- I'm not sure what I did but please forgive me I-"
"IT'S FINE DREAM EVERYTHING IS OK PLEASE COME OVER AND LET ME EXPLAIN!" George butted in.
"I will be right over!" Dream exclaimed practically jumping for joy.
—————————————————————
The walk was brisk and only took Dream a few minutes. Eventually he made it to George's apartment complex and rang his doorbell. George invited him in and they sat at the table together.
"I am so s-sorry Dream!" George began to stutter.
"George it's ok just take a deep breath and talk when you are ready," Dream smiled reassuringly.
"Dream. You are such a good friend, I really care about you. So much. More the you would ever know! But this... thing between us it needs to stop. I don't want you to get hurt Dream I want to protect you. I guess I overreacted but please stop with this." George was out of breath after explaining what happened between them.
Eventually Dream broke his silence, "George... ok if that is what you want then I will respect that." Dream hugged George "this is platonic I promise. George let out a slight chuckle.
"Fine I will let this slide Dream." George looked up at Dream and smiled.
"Anyway~ so now that everything has been settled, would you like to be the plus one to my sisters Christmas party?" Beaming down at George, Dream pulled away from the embrace.
"OF COURSE!" George exclaimed.
