Chapter 10

Kiyotaka POV

    The weak long cruise started 7 days ago, Arisu can’t go onto the island they prepared for us due to the fact that the terrain is too rough for her. That was pretty fishy due to the fact that it was supposed to be a resort, but whatever.

    Soon an announcement came that said “everyone, please go to the deck to observe the significant scenery”

    After that announcement, everyone went to the deck, I looked around to see that everyone was observing the island and talking about how cool it was that we that whole place to ourselves.

    Katsuragi was different from everyone else though. He was silently staring at the island with a perplexed look on his face and occasionally said something to Machida who was with him. I also stopped looking around and started observing the island.

    It was surprisingly desolate for what was supposed to be a resort. We were going a bit faster than we normally would while we circled the island. As we reached the sea I got a text message from Arisu that said, “good luck”.

    There was another announcement that told us to change into our jerseys, bring our phones with us, and nothing else, then head to the deck of the ship. After doing so I found a staircase leading off the boat and onto the beach, while we went down the staircase there were two teachers on each side that were collecting our phones.

    When we arrived at the beach we grouped up according to our classes when our teachers announced the true point of coming to this island.

    We were having a ‘special exam’ in which we have to secure locations on the island, chose and guessed leaders, managed team points, interpreted rules, and cooperated with our classmates in order to defeat the other classes.

    After each class obtained a rulebook we were sent off, immediately all of our classmates approached the members of their representative’s faction leader awaiting instructions. This was surely noticed by other classes, the greatest weakness of our class.

    I approached Katsuragi, I decided that ‘working together’ with him would be the best course of action, I decided I would bring victory for our class during this exam. If I did something such as giving him leadership during this exam and watched him fail it would gain nothing, the members of Katsuragi’s faction would question me for sabotage and we would lose many class points, I could just go back to the boat and spend the rest of the trip with Arisu, however, that would make me appear lazy and would create a bad image of me with the members of Katsuragi faction that I want to win over.

“Katsuragi, the best course of action is obviously to get a base camp immediately, does the cave sound good?” I asked

“That is exactly what I was thinking, lets go”

    Our classmates were dumbfounded, both at the fact that we were working together, and we both saw through this exam before it even started and agreed on the correct course of action.

    Unlike Arisu, I have no intentions of completely destroying the classmates who oppose me, doing such things brings resentment, and makes them unreliable for future exams. Katsuragi acts solely for the sake of Class A’s future, if I can show him I am superior to him and win over his support, then his talents will be secured as my own.

    We went to the big cave which we noticed during the boat ride, we decided that our leader would be Shimuzu Naoki, she leaned slightly towards my faction and had strong physical abilities, however, she was fairly indifferent and didn’t take sides during debates she had with her friends.

    Nishi, Hashimoto, and Machida were the ones who would accompany them when securing spots. We walked aways a little to discuss this, though no one was in listening distance, nevertheless, we were being followed.

    Machida already had knowledge of where the cave was and he guided his three companions to its location. The presence who was close to us disappeared, I took this time to discuss strategies with Katsuragi, I gave him the role of making the day to day decisions on our operations. I was to observe the other classes and insure that nothing unexpected occurs.

    The group had arrived at the cave when a dragon approached us, he walked with confidence and boldness. His eyes showed no doubt, and his hands clenched paper.

“Sup’, Class A, where can I find your leader?”

    Everyone just looked at him, no one responded to him, they just looked with disbelief at the fact that someone had the balls to walk into another class’s base so casually.

“Huh? Are you all deaf or something? I want to know where your fucking leader is!”

“Please act with more respect, if you wish to speak with me that’s fine, but be more polite” Katsuragi said calmly and obviously annoyed with his aditude.

“I would like to propose a deal, we work together and destroy all of the other classes. I already created a surefire strategy, you just need to tag along and you will get tones of points”

    This obviously intrigued Katsuragi, of course, I was curious as well. He proposed in exchange for all of our classmates sending him 20,000 private points at the beginning of each month he would give us 200 class points worth of goods. The other part of his strategy was to place spies in Class’s B and D, then they would tell us the leaders of each class.

    Katsuragi and I accepted this proposal, though Katsuragi put in the term that they needed proof for the leaders of their class in order for him to actually guess them. Ryuen accepted this term. It was a seemingly stupid strategy created by Ryuen, he was throwing away a victory and dragging the other two classes down with him, even if he ends up with 100 class points and Class B and D are taken down, he still takes an overwhelming loss to Class A, even if he gets 20,000 points each month from us, he is still losing.

    After signing the contract he brought with him, he left and prepared to buy all of the items and transport them to us. We would be well set off and not have to work hard at all during this exam, aside from the 4 people who are out finding and claiming spots as we speak.

    Once dinner time came around, we had 3 showers, three toilets, a weeks worth of food and more, more than a weeks worth of water, cushions on the floor to sleep on, and fans within the cave to cool us down.

    At sunset our comrades got back, they were all exhausted and were treated by great warriors by our classmates, they were getting massages, fed, and drinking cold water when they announced that including our cave, we possessed 4 spots.

    Everyone was cheering for our great accomplishment, everyone aside from Katsuragi who was sitting in the corner in deep thought. Some people asked if anything is wrong, but it was passed off as him just being lost in thought.

Kiyoko POV

    A special exam started on our ‘Island Resort’ today. The first day just ended for me and so far the boys and the girls can’t get along at all. Another noticeable thing is that we took in a Class C student named Ibuki Mio.

    We bought a toilet and a shower, along with gear for fishing and enough food to get us through the first day. We secured a spot on the river and decided as a group that we would drink the river water, though the girls opposed this at first, they ended up going with it in the end.

    And on the second day, I woke up not to the lovely melody of chirping birds, nor a cute girl tapping me lightly with a warm smile, but to crying because there was a panty theft.

    I left the tent to find a bunch of girls staring down at a group of boys, Shinohara-san was at the front of the group and Yukimura-kun was at front of the boys group glaring right back, the outlier was Hirata-kun who was in between them.

    At the demands of the girls Hirata-kun preformed a search on all of the boys and found nothing, he looked through bags and even did a pat-down, yet nothing showed up. The fact that they never showed up along with Hirata-kun’s pacifistic personality should have obviously proved that Hirata-kun was covering up for one of the boy’s, however, none of the girls got the hint. Another thing that made matters worse was that we learned at this time that Kouenji-kun had retired and returned to the ship.

    After following Hirata-kun a bit I saw Ike-kun hand over panties to him and my theory was proven. I decided now was the time to take action.

    I then left on an excursion with Horikita-san in order to get more information, she was our leader for this exam and she along with Hirata-kun decided on how to budget points to save the most.

    We arrived at the beach where we started off, it was there that we spotted a huge party going on. Jet ski’s were rented, there was a barbeque going on, people were in swimsuits and Ryuen-kun, the person who can be identified as Class C’s leader was nonchalantly drinking sparkling water under an umbrella while basking in his surroundings.

“Quite the extravagance, Ryuen-kun, are you trying to lose?” Asked Horikita-san

“Now, now, don't be so stingy, Suzune” Ryuen-kun responded while laughing “this is our summer vacation, we should be having fun”

“First off, I never gave you permission to use my given name, and second, do you realise our future is on the line during these special exams? Our dream colleges and jobs rely on getting to Class A”

“If I cared about such things do you think I would be throwing a party like this? You’re free to join us, Suzune”

    She responded to this invitation by leaving, I followed too, but only after I noticed a transceiver on the table next to him.

    We went searching some more and ran into a Class B student, who upon asked to, lead us to the Class B home base.

“good evening Kiyoko-san! How is your class doing?”

“It’s doing ok, we have had our difficulties, but it is to be expected, this is an exam after all”

“You’ve got this Kiyoko-san, I believe in you!”

“Who is that?” I asked about someone who I did not recognize as someone in Class B“That’s Kaneda-kun, he was ostracized by his fellow members of Class C, we took him in because he had nowhere else to go”

“We also took in a student from C Class, it seems like they are an unfriendly group”

    We talked about what we would be doing during the exam, and we even got fed fish they caught for lunch, it was really good.

    After this, I returned to my camp. Before I got there, I took a detour, I arrived at the tree Ibuki-san sat under and dug up a transceiver, I then pushed on the button at the side and spoke into it

“Good evening Ryuen-kun, shall we have a chat?”
