EIGHT

THEY ALL WALKED into their hotel room that was filled with beach decorations and a balcony that showed the ocean the hotel was built next to.

"It's smells salty in here." Dakota pointed out as his head lifted up to smell the air.

"Duh." Hailey shrugged and walked over to the bed Laci was going to.

"It smells like summer, Dakota. Get used to it, we're gonna be here for, like, a long time." Laci nodded, chuckling a bit as she laid down on the bed.

"Why you always sassing with Dakota?" Hailey asked with a grin on her face, holding herself on her hands and her back turned to look at Laci.

"Because he's so easy to sass." Laci replied, putting her bag on the floor.

"Mhm." Hailey nodded sarcastically, not believing Laci.

"Look, they have enough dressers." Leena pointed out the 3 mini dressers that were split so that a few people could use it.

"I can share with Hailey, I'm gonna steal her clothes anyway." Laci said, lifting herself up to sit upright next to her best friend.

"Leena, you should go on a walk with me and Laci on the boardwalk today." Hailey invited her, smiling hopefully.

"Sure, maybe we can get ice creams. Oh, we can get matching hoodies! Those little shops on the boardwalk have the best clothes." Leena agreed, seeming really happy she was invited.

"Can me and Dakota come?" Walker asked, frowning at the fact he was excluded.

"Leena, should they?" Hailey tilted her head, biting the skin off her bottom lip.

"Sure, but you guys have to get whatever hoodie we agree on." Leena gave in, opening a drawer of the dresser and taking her clothes out.

"Isn't tomorrow when we get our lines, Hails?" Walker asked, sitting on the middle bed that was next to the one Hailey and Laci were sitting on.

"Yeah. They invited us all to this little restaurant thing." Hailey nodded, putting her elbows on her thighs and resting her chin on her palms.

"They better have good food or I'm gonna shoot it up." Walker joked, smiling to himself with a proud face.

"Walker!" Hailey exclaimed, narrowing her eyes.

"Dude." Dakota gave him a dirty look, his eyebrows lifting in surprise.

"Walker William Scobell." Leena said his full name, smacking his arm.

"It was just a silly joke." Walker shrugged unaffected, widening his eyes in defense.

"That wasn't silly." Laci shook her head.

"It was to me. What time is it?" Walker moved on, laying down on the bed he was sharing with Dakota.

"It's, like, 5:00 PM. We can get room service for dinner and we can all have a little movie night and go to sleep for celebration that we're here." Leena said.

"What should we watch?" Dakota asked, opening his suitcase and digging in there.

"We should watch a romance." Laci suggested.

"We should watch The Notebook." Leena pointed to Laci, smiling widely at her thought.

"Oh, my gosh. Leena, you're a genius. We should watch romances every night together." Laci nodded along.

"Tomorrow, can we watch La La Land?" Walker asked, also opening his suitcase.

"Yes, we can." Leena nodded.

"Stop, I'll be sitting out of that." Hailey frowned, then Laci started laughing at her and she threw her arm around her.

"She ugly cried so hard the first time we watched it." Laci commented, hugging her lightly.

"What about Flipped instead?" Dakota said.

"Oh, my gosh, I love that movie so much." Hailey nodded.

"Alright, let's get our pajamas on, guys." Leena said, looking at the menu thing next to the phone.

"Me first." Dakota said and brought the pair of pajama pants and white t-shirt into the bathroom.

โ€”

"BRO, THATS SO sad, how are you guys not crying?" Walker asked with a muffled voice since his face was covered by his shirt.

"I am crying, Walker." Leena said with a shaky voice as she stared at the TV screen that had the final scenes of The Notebook on it. Noah and Allie had passed away together, causing everyone to cry except Dakota.

"It's not even that sad." Dakota shrugged, scrolling on his Instagram page.

"You're just not paying attention." Walker said with a shaky voice as he stood up.

"Dakota just has no emotions." Laci chuckled, wiping the tears on her cheeks.

"Oh, my gosh. That's so sad!" Leena exclaimed, bending over after she sat up.

"It's okay, Leen." Hailey said as she cuddled up under the covers next to Laci.

"I'm sure they're doing good with each other in the afterlife, Leena. It's okay." Laci added in a sweet voice.

"Alright, let's all go to sleep now." Dakota said as he walked back over to his bed, turning the TV off which made the whole room almost pitch dark except the moonlight shining in through the balcony that had no curtains.

"I can't yet, I'll have sad dreams about the movie." Leena complained.

"I'm going to the bathroom." Walker said, his voice still shaky from crying as he stood up.

"Walker, are you okay?" Hailey asked in a concerned voice.

"Yeah, the movie was just so sad. I can't believe Leena suggested that." Walker said and turned the bathroom light on.

"Well, I'm going to bed. Goodnight guys." Dakota said and put his phone on the side table.

Hailey grabbed his phone and put in his password, going to his clock app to turn off his alarm since she didn't wanna wake up at 7:00 AM.

"Turn your alarm off, Dakota. No one wants to hear the song you have as your alarm sound." Hailey said.

"Thanks for doing it for me, though." Dakota said softly since his back was turned to Hailey.

"Goodnight, I love you." Hailey said and then turned her own alarm off.

"Goodnight, I love you too." Dakota agreed and then started breathing softly, which signaled that he was actually tired and about to fall asleep.

The toilet flushed and the water started running, then Walker walked out of the bathroom. "Dakota, why are you so tired?" Walker asked as he walked to the bed.

"Why are you not? It's 10 PM." Dakota said in a tired voice.

"Hails, I'm going to sleep. Goodnight, love you." Laci said, giving her a side hug.

"Love you too. I'm also going to bed, goodnight Leena, goodnight Walker." Hailey said and then struggled to get the hotel blanket untucked.

"Goodnight, Hailey." Leena said from the opposite side of the room.

"Goodnight, Hails." Walker said and then turned off his alarm and laid down next to Dakota.
