Chapter Thirteen:

03:50, 6 August 2022

A/n:⚠️swearing warning again: f word and s word⚠️Fitz's POV:       "Jessi I- I still like you too," I said, leaning in and closing the distance between me and her on the bed and kissing her. She tangled her fingers through my hair as we kissed and I wrapped my arm around her waist, stroking my other hand through her hair.  As I kissed her I realized how much I had missed her. How good of a kisser she was. How beautiful she was. Jessi had light blonde wavy hair and sparkly blue eyes.  "What?" Sophie shouted. I looked up and saw her looking distraught. "Sophie!" I shouted as she ran out the door. Keefe ran into the room, grabbed Sophie's purse, and left, leaving me alone with Jessi.

It all kept flashing through my head as I ran into the hallway in the direction Sophie went. "Sophie, wait up!" I called after her, "please!"

I turned the corner and slammed straight into Keefe. "Leave her alone Fitz," he told me, looking a lot more serious than usual, "she doesn't want to talk to you."

"Keefe, this is none of your business. I need to talk to Sophie, please let me talk to her."

"Tell me what you're going to say."

          "I- what? Why?"

"Because... she's already upset, I don't want you to hurt her even worse. Just tell me what you're going to say."

I hated how serious Keefe was acting. He was making this seem way more serious than I wanted it to be. "I... I just want to tell her that I love her. That, I know I fucked up but she's my girlfriend and I love her. It was just a kiss, it doesn't mean anything. I mean, I'm not dating Jessi,"

Keefes POV:        What the hell was wrong with Fitz? First he was making out with his ex girlfriend while dating Sophie and now he wanted to tell her that he loves her and "it was just a kiss." That was gonna mess with her and I knew it. Sophie was on the stairs, I told her to wait for me there while I handled Fitz.

        "You can't tell her that."

          "Why not?"

"You cheated on her, Fitz, with your freaking ex girlfriend and she sees that as you not caring about her so you want to go up and fucking tell her you love her and it was 'just a kiss' to fuck her up into believing you? You suck Fitz!"

"Cause I do love her, and it was just a kiss."

"Oh?" I heard a soft voice say as Sophie stepped out from the other hall where the staircase was. She was listening the whole time. Her eyes were red and watery and her face was covered in tears. My heart broke in half for her, but when she blinked the tears went away and her voice got stronger when she said the next part. "It was just a kiss? You're right," she said, shocking me and apparently Fitz.

          "Really?" He said.

"Yeah. It's just a kiss. It didn't mean anything. Just like this is 'just a kiss'"

"Wha-" me and Fitz both said as Sophie stepped closer to me, putting her hand on my chest, getting on her tiptoes, and kissing me softly on the lips.

Fitz glared at me and Sophie but she simply shrugged. "It doesn't mean anything right?"

I was frozen in place, shocked by the fact she had kissed me. I knew it was just to prove a point to Fitz but I couldn't help but feel like there was something there in that kiss. Some, feelings, and not just from me, who had liked her for months.

Fitz rolled his eyes. "You can't just- I- it's not the sa-"

"It's not the same? Really Fitz? I can't believe you. I- I really can't believe you'd do this," Sophie said, "Fitz, I... I think we need to break up." My eyes widened. I couldn't believe she'd just dumped him.

              "Sophie-"

"Come on Keefe," Sophie said, grabbing my arm and pulling me into the other hallway, down the stairs, and almost out the door when Biana stopped us.

"Sophie where are you going? And why's Keefe coming? And where'd Fitz?" Biana asked.

"I'm going home. And you can ask Fitz why. Bye, Biana," Sophie said, grabbing me again and pulling me out the door.

The second we were outside, Sophie's face dropped as she started to cry. Once it started, she couldn't stop crying. Her face was covered with tears as she let out little sobs. She kept wiping off her face but there were fresh tears only seconds later. "I- I'm sorry, Keefe, you can- you should stay, I-I'll be fine, I can walk home alone," she said, pausing multiple times to let out a little sob.

"Sophie, Sophie, look, I'm not gonna leave you to walk home alone like this."

"You- you called me Sophie again. Instead of foster."

"Some moments need to be serious."

She gave a little laugh and wiped the tears off her eyes again. "I'm sorry for crying like this," she said.

"There's nothing to apologize for." I leaned in a hugged her and after a second she hugged me back, clinging onto me.

I stepped away and then put my arm around her, walking her home. When we got home, she turned to walk up to her driveway, I stopped her, grabbing her hand. She spun around and stopped moving, super close to my face. "I-" all I could think about was kissing her like I'd been wanting to do for so long, but she had just broken up with Fitz, I couldn't do that. "Are you okay?"

She smiled sadly, "not really," she said, "but I'll be fine."

"If you need anything, Foster, call me. See you around," I went inside.

Sophie's POV:          As I turned away from Keefe and towards my house, I saw Grady and Edaline on the porch. As I walked closer, Grady noticed the tears that were still drying on my face. "What did That Boy do to you? I mean the Sencen boy if it wasn't obvious," he asked.

"Keefe didn't do anything, Grady, except be there for me. What do you even have against him? You know what, I don't care, just leave me alone!" I yelled, running upstairs to my room, picking up my cat, Iggy, and hugging him until I fell asleep.

A/n:Yes, I made Iggy a cat, unless you have another animal for him to be?
