Chapter Six: Meeting Dex

04:41, 27 July 2022

A/n does anyone else ever picture Dex with glasses?

Sophie's POV: I was in my room trying to pick out an outfit for Fitzs party. I could wear a cute dress but maybe that's over the top for the party. I could a hoodie with leggings but that seemed like it wouldn't be fancy enough.

Just as I pulled out a cute pair of jeans to try and match with a top, I heard the doorbell ring. Our dog Max started freaking out as I went over to answer the door.

When I opened the door it was a boy with strawberry blonde hair and periwinkle eyes. When he saw me, he smiled brightly, revealing his dimples. "I'm Dex!" He said.

"I'm Sophie," I said, smiling back.

Just then, Edaline came to the door. "Dex! I'm so glad you were finally able to come!"

"Sorry for not coming until now, I figured I should wait until Sophie got settled in and then I just got really busy!" Dex said.

He seemed really nice. "I was hoping you guys would be friends!" Edaline said.

He looked at me hopefully. "I'd love to be friends!" I said.

He seemed really happy about that. Edaline invited him in and we went up to my room to hang out for a while. "So, how do you like Foxfire?" He asked, "and you can tell the truth, I wouldn't judge you if you were unpopular cause I am too but you're really pretty so I doubt you are unpopular."

"Foxfire seems nice. I have a lot more friends here than I ever did at my old school but at my old school I had no friends so that's not saying a lot," I said.

"Who are your friends?" He asked.

"I'm kinda friends with Linh, Tam, Marella, Fitz, and Keefe," I said.

"Oh, that's a lot of friends," Dex said, "I have none." He looked sad as he said that, and embarrassed.

"Well, let's change that. We should be friends," I said.

He looked up at me. "Really?"

"Yeah! We should sit together at lunch tomorrow. How come I didn't see you there today?" I asked.

His face flushed red. "I, Um, I usually eat lunch in the bathroom. Just so I don't look pathetic sitting by myself."

I felt really bad. "Well, tomorrow, you won't have to sit by yourself!"

He leaned forward and hugged me and I hugged him back. When we stopped hugging he looked around at the room. "Why are there so many clothes out?" He asked.

I blushed slightly pink. "I've been trying to figure out what to wear to Fitz's party tonight, I have no clue how I should dress!" I said.

"Oh. You're friends with wonder boy? That's what I call Fitz. Everyone loves him. I should've figured you'd be friends." He said.

"You don't like him?" I asked.

"Yeah and I might be the only one." After a moment of quietness, he picked up a red crop top and the jean shorts "You should wear this to the party," he said, "I've seen the girls there before and they usually wear stuff like this. Why don't you try it on?"

Sophie's outfit

I went into the bathroom and changed into the outfit. When I came back out Dexs eyes widened slightly. "Wow, you look nice in that. Definitely wear that."

Just then Edaline came in, "Is Dex helping you pick an outfit?" She asked, laughing.

"Yeah, I am," he said. Edaline looked surprised at the fact that he actually was helping me but she laughed again.

"Where are you wearing that to?" She asked.

"Fitz's party, he invited me at school today," I answered.

Edaline smiled a little. "Dex, are you going?"

Dex looked down at the floor. "I wasn't invited."

Edaline frowned, "Sophie, can't you see if Dex can come to the party?" She asked.

"Yeah, I totally can!" I said, "do you wanna come to the party Dex?"

He frowned. "Not r-" he looked at me and he seemed to think about it. Then, his attitude appeared to change and he smiled, "with you? I'd love to go."

I got out my phone and called up Fitz. "Hey, so about your party I was wondering if Dex could come with me. I think he wants to come and I'm sure you'd get along fine so-"

"Yeah, he can come if you want. I'll see you there," Fitz said. As he hung up I pictured his gorgeous teal eyes. This party was gonna be fun.
