Chapter 49

18:11, 21 July 2019

Taehyung POV

Time flies, especially if everyday is spent with the people you love. Each second ticks away like the sand falling through the cracks of your hands- slowly but surely. Seconds melt into minutes, minutes into hours, hours into days, days into weeks, and finally weeks into years. In a blink of an eye, almost three years have flown by. Just a few days shy from three years of dating Y/N, five years since he met her. Taehyung always got sentimental when he thought about the past- especially the topic of time. Suga always told him to shut up about it, telling him not to get so cheesy. But then again, it was easy for him to say- Suga was immortal, able to live for forever. Maybe that's why he's always so cranky.

"So Taetae," Jin called, snapping Taehyung out of his thoughts, "when are you going to get down on that one knee?"

"Hyung..." Taehyung whined, letting his head fall back onto the couch. Ever since Taehyung and Y/N hit that two year mark of dating, Jin wouldn't stop asking the two of them to get married. Actually correction, Jin wouldn't stop asking Taehyung- especially when Y/N wasn't around, like today. She is currently in a meeting at BigHit.

"I need to know, I want to be the coordinator and flower boy," Jin smiled.

"How long are you going to push it back?" Namjoon asked, sipping his tea.

"Yeah," Suga chimed, "Hurry up and get out of this house."

"Can I turn Taehyung's room into my gaming room?" Jungkook asked.

"Ugh, I will- just not now. Plus Y/N and I haven't even talked about getting engaged, much less getting married," Taehyung sighed. It's not that he didn't want to marry Y/N. He decided to go with the flow, take things easy- yet he already bought a ring, two years ago. The topic of marriage hasn't surfaced so far, thus Taehyung didn't see the need to propose- yet. After marriage would come kids- oh god, kids. Taehyung got giddy at the thought. He hoped they looked like Y/N- her beautiful eyes, smile, face, laugh- everything in general.

"You've got to get married before you have kids, or vice versa. Choose one first," Namjoon commented.

"Joon-hyung," Taehyung growled, "How many time have I told you to stay out of my fucking head?"

"Well, I'm just a catalyst to help things along," Namjoon continued, ignoring Taehyung.

"But jokes aside, are you seriously not proposing to her because the two of you haven't talked about it?" Jin asked. He took Taehyung's silence as a 'yes'. "Y/N probably isn't bring it up because you haven't. Be a man, take initiative Tae."

"Be a man," Jungkook echoed, earning a glare from Taehyung.

"Our three year anniversary is coming up- I guess I'll do it then," Taehyung said, leaning forward on his knees.

"If you don't feel ready, you don't have to," Namjoon began, "We were just curious to how long are you going to wait."

"Nah, I think I'll do it then. I've pushed it back long enough," Taehyung confirmed, nodding his head. Any longer and she might get snatched by someone else.

"Well, we have exactly six days to pull this off. Let's get planning!" Jin exclaimed, whipping a clipboard out of midair. He also summoned a pen and started jotting down ideas. Maybe Jin was secretly a warlock- he was certainly much better than Namjoon.

"Hey! I heard that," Namjoon exclaimed.

...

Six days later...

"Oh god," Taehyung exclaimed, pacing around the room. The members were around him, watching him go back and forth, and vice versa. Jin had called in a favor from HongJoong and Mingi, asking them to keep Y/N distracted and out of the house. So far Y/N hadn't suspected anything- or so it seemed.

"Okay, three more hours until this plan goes into action," Jin began, going over final details. "We've booked a fancy dinner for the two of you. After dinner, there's a walk at the Han River. Say your stuff, get down on one knee- pop the question and put that ring on her."

"Then we jump out of nowhere and shower them with confetti and congratulations!" Hoseok exclaimed. "I've got the party poppers!"

"Uh huh, how about no on that last thing," Taehyung mumbled. He fidgeted with fingers, last minute nerves hitting him hard.

"You've got the ring?" Namjoon asked. Taehyung nodded, patting his pocket. He pulled out the soft, velvet box. Flipping the lip open, Taehyung looked at the ring. It looked quite simple from far away, however if one to take a closer look- they would do a double take. The silver metal was thin, smooth- twisting around like vines across and around each diamond. Small gems sat delicately like nested eggs, lined up to the main event- the centerpiece that finished the look. The diamond that rested in the middle of the vine-like intricate metal band was like a rose- beautiful, delicate, and mesmerizing. The rock wasn't very large- and Taehyung wanted that way. He wanted the ring to be simple enough for everyday wear, yet fancy enough to make one envious. The ring was of intricate and luxurious craftsmanship- conveying the three words Taehyung wanted to say: I love you.

"That's a beautiful ring," Jin smiled, snapping Taehyung back to reality. Taehyung closed the box and stuffed it back into his pockets before Jin continued, "I bet you took a long time to choose."

"Very," Taehyung replied. Two years in the making...

"Anyways, you've got to get ready. You have to look your best today," Jin ushered, shoving Taehyung into a room. "These stylists will know what to do!"

That was the last thing Taehyung heard before he was attacked by clothes, makeup brushes, and hairdryers.

...

Y/N POV

It was oddly suspicious when Jin shoved you out of the house. He smiled and locked the door behind you, leaving you standing out on the driveway dumbfounded. Out of nowhere, Mingi and HongJoong popped up- scaring the wits out of you. Right, shadow-travel. Despite being around vampires and even dating one, you would never get used to their sudden teleportation abilities.

"Hey Y/N," Mingi smiled, he looped his arms through yours, "Let's have some fun today!"

HongJoong, saying nothing, also grabbed your arms. Before you could say anything, you were engulfed by the shadows.

...

"If you mean fun, is this what you meant?" you asked from your seat.

"Yup, what did you think I meant?" Mingi laughed from his spot across from you.

"You could've told me that we were have spa-day and I would've just followed you anywhere," you replied, joining in on the laughter as well.

You were originally freaked out- and very suspicious- on how Mingi and HongJoong showed up immediately after Jin kicked you out- on your anniversary day with Taehyung. However, the current head massage was making you lose focus, resulting in you quickly dropping your suspicions. From the corner of your eye, you saw HongJoong getting his hair done. He was dying it bright red.

"Ma'am, would you like us to style your hair as well?" the staff asked you, interrupting your thoughts.

"Yes, make her look her best," Mingi answered for you. "The bill is on me," he winked before he fell back into his massage.

...

"Good god, you guys shop more even than me!" you exclaimed, taking a seat. The two had already taken you to a salon- where you had an amazing time getting your hair and makeup done- but as if the day couldn't get any more peculiar, it did. You watched Mingi and HongJoong flipped through racks of dresses. This was your fourth store with the two, and Mingi and HongJoong seemed determined to find a dress you liked. Why? You didn't know either, they always avoided or dodged your questions.

"Do you prefer dresses or skirts?" Mingi asked, breaking you out of your thoughts.

"Uh...I'm okay with both...?" you replied. "By the way, why are we here again?"

"To find a nice outfit for you," HongJoong answered, waving up two skirts. "Black or dark maroon?"

"Obviously black!" Mingi replied for you, "We can pair it that cute caramel-cream top from that other rack. Finish that look with some cute ankle boots or flats and we're done."

You stared dumbfounded, eyes wide after Mingi's answer. That man has better fashion taste than me...

"Uh, you don't like skirts?" HongJoong asked, noticing your reaction.

"Oh, no- I'm fine. I was just taken back at Mingi's great fashion taste," you smiled, laughing nervously.

"Sorry, couldn't help myself there," Mingi replied, winking. "Anyways, hurry up and try these on. Come on, let's go!" Before you could even answer, Mingi whisked you into a dressing room- throwing your newly chosen outfit inside.

"Feel free to take your time," HongJoong called.

...

A few minutes later, you left the store in your new outfit- carefully picked out by the one and only Mingi and HongJoong. You had put up a protest against the two, but eventually lost. The Mingi and HongJoong paid your new clothes, cutting off the tags before you could even see the price. You made a mental note to find the two if you ever had an outfit crisis.

"Okay, I'll order," Mingi called before dashing to the counter. HongJoong and you walked to the hidden booth at the corner of the cafe. You noticed how it was the same one Taehyung had taken you to on your first date.

You smoothed the pleats of your skirt, tapping you finger on table- waiting. Minutes soon ticked by.

"I'll see what's taking him so long," HongJoong said, interrupting the silence. You offered to go as well, but HongJoong stopped you. "Just stay here, trust me. Also, congratulations," HongJoong finished, smiling. Before you could ask what he meant, he disappeared- out of view from the hidden alcove you were sitting in. With no other choice, you waited.

"Hey love, you look beautiful," a voice murmured into your ear. You jumped, turning around- coming face to face with Taehyung. Smiling, you gave him a hug. After a few moments, he broke away- only to give you a kiss. In one graceful move, Taehyung slid around the table, seating himself across from you.

"Thank you," you replied, laughing, "Mingi and HongJoong chose this outfit. It was really weird going on a shopping trip with them."

"Huh, I guess we'll have to ask them to arrange our closet next time," Taehyung smiled. You guessed he already knew you were out with the two. Immediately your suspicions peaked back up.

"Anyways, you look dashingly handsome today," you commented. It was true, Taehyung had gotten himself nicely done for today. His newly dyed hair was back to black- dark and inky as the first time you met him. His bangs draped downward in a messy yet neat manner- but there was a parting where is attractive forehead peeked through. Could foreheads even be sexy? Well, Taehyung certainly accomplished that feat. He wore a dark, deep maroon wine toned suit jacket- the fabric streaked smooth and sleet as silk. Inside the jacket he wore a black dress shirt, with the top few buttons undone, showing his sexy collarbones. He paired the look with a belt, tight pants that were just a few shades darker than his jacket, and nice black dress shoes. He was stunningly attractive today- well, as usual.

"Like what you're seeing?" Taehyung smirked, catching you staring.

"Very much so," you smiled, your cheeks warm.

"Here is your americano and caramel cappuccino," a waiter interrupted, setting down two drinks.

"Um...I didn't order," you replied, stopping the waiter.

"Oh, there were two gentlemen who told me to leave at the hidden alcove at the back. One of them had red hair and the other tan hair?" the waiter added, "Anyways, it's already paid for so I guess just enjoy." Finished, the waiter left.

Red and tan hair? HongJoong and Mingi...

"So which one do you want?" Taehyung asked smiling. Rolling you eyes, you laughed.

"The caramel cappuccino."

...

"So are you taking me to some kind of nice anniversary dinner?" you laughed, walking as Taehyung swung your linked hand with his.

"Something like that," Taehyung answered, smiling. "Anyways, it's right here." Taking a turn, Taehyung led you up the steps to the nice restaurant. Once inside, you looked up, admiring the architectural structures and furniture. The chandelier above was certainly more than mesmerizing. All this seemed too grand for the lobby.

"We have a reservation for two under the name Kim- Kim Taehyung," Taehyung said to the person at the front desk.

"Ah Kim Taehyung...Kim Taehyung...Kim Taehyung..." the lady murmured as she scanned down the screen, checking for his name. "Ah yes, table thirteen. Your server will be here shortly."

"Thank you," Taehyung smiled, leading you to take a seat in the lobby- waiting for the server.

"Table thirteen?" a server called a few moments later, "I will be your server for tonight. I am-" the server cut off as you and Taehyung got up and walked over. You noticed the flash of disgust and anger flash across the server's face. Brushing it aside, you assumed you were seeing things.

"I'm sorry to inform you that your table is not available," the server replied. This time she didn't hide her emotions. You assumed she was one of those people who still hated you for dating Taehyung.

"Really, is that true?" Taehyung asked, cocking his head sideways. He dashed over to the lady at the lobby, checking the list again. A few moments later he dashed back, there was a slight annoyance in his eyes. He had picked up what was going on here. "That ma'am just informed me that the table is open. I reserved it almost a week ago."

"Is that so, seems like you work here now do you?" the server snapped, "Most of our diners reserve seats and tables at least two weeks in advance."

"I checked this morning and it was available all day," Taehyung replied, unable to hide his tone of anger.

"Well it's not anymore," the server continued. She wasn't going to budge no matter how much you argue with her. It was her loss anyways, losing a big fat tip and being within three feet of Taehyung tonight.

"Taehyung, hey love," you whispered, tugging on his jacket sleeve. He turned towards you and you gave him a peck on his cheek. "Let's go, I don't want to eat here even if they beg me. Especially with her as out server." Taehyung gave the server one last glare before giving you a kiss- you felt his lips curl up in a smile as the server's scrunched up like a messed up raisin.

"Okay, you're the boss," he smiled.

...

"I'm so sorry about tonight," Taehyung apologized, looking dejected.

"It's okay, ramen at the Han River is just as good if not better," you smiled. After leaving the restaurant, Taehyung had shadow-travel the two of you to the Han River. After getting some ramen and snacks, Taehyung laid his jack on the grass- waving for you to sit on it. Thanking him for his chivalry, the two of you chilled and talked- watching the sun slowly setting down across the waters.

"If you say so," Taehyung replied. He paused to take another bite of his noodles before continuing. "Anyways, how-"

"Is that Taehyung?!" a shrill voice shouted.

"Who's that girl besides him- wait...it's her," another girl replied. Taehyung whirled his head around, annoyance painted across it. Immediately, Taehyung sat his noodles down, motioning for you to do the same. After helping you to your feet, he draped his jacket over his shoulder.

"We're going to have to make a run for it," Taehyung said, linking his hand in yours. Before you could say 'on three?' , Taehyung started running. Your laugh was stripped away by the wind, Taehyung occasionally turned back, giving you a smile- well until sheer horror painted across it.

Noticing his expression, you turned around as well. The two girls were still chasing you, and they were closing the distance in between. You blamed the shoes you were wearing. "Are they Olympic runners?" you gasped, "Holy f-"

"Yeah, I know," Taehyung replied. In a graceful swoop, Taehyung picked you up- princess style-, leaving you squealing and laughing again. "I've only imagined picking you up and running like this too our bed, but oh well," Taehyung joked. Giving him a kiss on his cheek, you turned around. Taehyung had increased the distance between the girls again. Yeah, try outrunning a vampire.

Taehyung continued his pace for a few more minutes before ducking behind a few trees. He let you down, slightly winded. His hair was all over the place, but he was still messily handsome. Your hair on the other hand- you didn't even want to know.

Taehyung brushed a few strands of your hair from your face, tucking them behind your ear. "Well, nothing seems to-" Taehyung cut himself off when he felt rain drops splatter down. Within a few moments, it was raining. It wasn't heavy, but it was definitely enough to soak someone if they stayed outside long enough. Cursing, Taehyung draped his jacket over you.

"I should've chosen to drive today..." Taehyung grumbled. He tried to teleport to the covered awning but he noticed that there were people under there. With nowhere to go, he tried his best to keep you from getting drenched by making sure you were under the densest trees.

"Are you okay?" you asked Taehyung, he was fulling soaked through.

"Yeah, the cold doesn't really bother me," he answered, looking at you.

"Are you sure, we can head home," you continued, worried about his health.

"Do you want to head back? Are you okay?" Taehyung countered. You shook your head, wondering what was keeping him from going back.

"I just wanted today to be...I mean...nothing is going right today. I should've doubled checked the reservation, the weather forecast as well," Taehyung mumbled, "Today was supposed to be our best anniversary."

"Hey, the rain looks like it's going to let up soon," you said, tapping Taehyung's shoulder. He look up, noticing the sun beginning to come back out again. He looked slightly happier. Linking your hands back in his, you gave him a kiss. "So, what did you have planned to end this day with a bang?"

Taehyung quirked his eyebrows up, slightly smiling. Suddenly your remembered Jin's and Taehyung's 'bang and Bangtan' jokes. Rolling your eyes, you waited for his answer.

"Well...it's not going to be anything special or nice now...I'll do it another day," Taehyung answered.

"Do what? Come on, you can't leave me hanging," you replied, swinging your linked hands back and forth. When he didn't answer, you pressed on. "What makes you think that today wasn't special? Sure things didn't exactly work out as planned, but it was most definitely memorable. Today was still fun, and I think I love this anniversary just as much if not more than the others."

"Really?" Taehyung asked.

"Of course!" you answered. You gave him a kiss.

"Okay then, let's continue," Taehyung smiled.

...

The two of you spent the rest of the day frolicking around. Dancing on the wet grass and watching the sunset on the Han River- Taehyung slipped and fell down in an ungraceful way. After that, the two of you visited some of the nighttime food stalls, trying out various cuisines and delicious foods. When the two of you stuffed yourselves until you couldn't anymore, Taehyung took the two of you to a karaoke room- where you happily listened to him sing beautiful love songs with his rich, silky, and captivating voice. It was now late, nearing midnight- just a little more than twenty minutes until your anniversary day was over.

"One more stop, okay?" Taehyung said, smiling. You nodded and Taehyung linked his hands in yours. "Close your eyes okay?" he whispered, dissolving into the shadows.

...

"Okay, you can open them now," Taehyung murmured. You blinked your eyes open, turning to see where Taehyung had taken you to.

It was a quiet street- lit up by the lights and streetlamps lined up in a row. You were right under the warm glow, the bright light illuminating a circle on the dark road. Only your shadow cut out a silhouette of darkness. You turned and saw, to your left, a light that was flickering- on and off, struggling to stay lit.

Smiling, you turned to Taehyung. "Wait, is this the so called infamous road where-"

"We met?" Taehyung finished for you, smiling as well. "Funny how they still haven't changed that flickering light."

"What's even funnier?" you began, adding, "Is how that light is still able to stay- somewhat- on for what...how many years?"

"Five, if you count those two not so fun years..." Taehyung answered.

"So, what did you bring us here for? You've never did it for our other dates or anniversaries," you said, cocking your head sideways.

"That's because this anniversary is different from the others," Taehyung replied. He linked his hands in yours, facing you. His head was looking down at you as you tilted yours towards his. His eyes were rich midnight, amidst many inky and dark layers.

"Y/LN Y/N," Taehyung began, taking a deep breath, "If there's anything to describe our time together- it would be...full of surprises. The things that we went through- you finding out about my true identity, our bonds, the ups and downs-"

"And crazy fans," you interjected, "Can't forget about that."

"And crazy fans," Taehyung repeated smiling. "You always surprise me, with what you have in store and how you tackle the challenges that we face. And after everything we went through together, I realized I can't live without you."

"Literally, I'm your walking bloody Capri Sun," you laughed. Was this turning out to be a...?

"That too," Taehyung nodded, "Anyways, we've been together for exactly three years now- met for five...I-uh...fuck...I should've gone over this speech a few more times with Jin..." Taehyung trailed off, shaking his head.

Laughing, you cupped his face, turning it back towards you. "You're doing fine," you murmured, giving him a quick kiss.

"Thank you love," Taehyung whispered, capturing your lips a few more times before continuing again, "So, sometimes I think we're already married- despite never talking about it. I mean it just feels normal and natural- us. Then I realized I better make that thought real, or you're going to get snatched by another guy."

"You mean you're going to get snatched," you breathed, realizing where is this going.

"Or that too," Taehyung smiled, seeing your realization. "So, Y/LN Y/N," Taehyung began again as he got down on that one knee, "I'm begging you, as I get down on one knee, to make me that happiest man- or half-vampire- in the world. Will you marry me?" Taehyung looked at you, his eyes full of hope. In his hands he had a velvet box opened, revealing the ring he had chosen.

Taehyung waited for your reply. You were speechless- in a good way though. Furiously nodding you head, your choked out "Yes." Taehyung's face lit up as he smiled. He slid the ring on your left hand, fourth finger- the ring finger. He stood up when he was done, cupping your face in his hands.

Taehyung didn't have to say anything, he closed the distance between you- kissing you. Passionate, desiring, and full of happiness- he kissed you. Your heart beated rapidly, going at a thousand beats per minute- which wasn't good for you. You decided to check that out later. Right now you were the happiest girl in the world. Taehyung was now officially yours, as you were his. Taehyung broke away from the kiss, out of breath.

"Now there isn't anything you don't like about me anymore," you smiled, "My last name is changing soon."

Taehyung laughed, resting his sexy forehead against yours.

"I love you, now and forever," Taehyung murmured, enveloping you in his strong and sure arms.
