47: One Horrible Night
20:02, 11 March 2017JAMIE POV
"What the-- WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!" My father screamed as he barged into my room, where Jimin and I were cuddling on the bed. We jumped up and got out of bed. My father glared at Jimin with unbelievable anger, the same look he had the night he broke my leg.
"Dad! I--"
"WHO IS HE?! ANSWER OR I WILL KILL YOU BOTH RIGHT NOW!" He screamed. He took a step towards Jimin, but I stood between them.
"No one! He is just a friend and I--" He slapped me and pushed me away easily, slamming my body against the wall.
"Jamie!" Jimin yelled, taking a step towards me, but my dad pushed him away. He grabbed Jimin's collar and moved him towards the window, putting his upper body out of it.
"JIMIN!" I screamed.
"Jamie! Stay back!" Jimin yelled back at me.
"No! Dad stop please!" I screamed. I watched as my father released his grip on Jimin's shirt, sending him out of the window.
"NOOOO!"
END OF DREAM
"NOOOO!" I screamed as I shot up from bed. Tears stained my eyes and sweat drenched my hair and clothes. I looked around my dark room. Everything was calm and soundless. I looked at the clock to see that it was 5:23 am. I breathed heavily as my heart raced, and I looked around frantically. I quickly looked out of the window to see a sleepy Jimin getting up and rubbing his eyes.
"What happened Jamie? Are you okay?" He asked. Upon seeing him, my heart relaxed and tears ran down my face.
"Oh thank God. Oh my gosh. Please. Thank you." I mumbled as I covered my face, rocking back and forth.
"What's wrong Jamie? Babe talk to me." He said. I continued to sob. I was so relieved that he was okay. I was so relieved that that horrible nightmare was over. I wiped my tears and tried to calm myself down.
Jimin patiently and worriedly looked at me, waiting for an answer. I shook my head.
"Nothing. I'm okay. I love you Jimin, I love you so much." I said. He raised his eyebrow.
"I love you too... Jamie what's wrong, I know something is wrong." He said. I shook my head again.
"No it was just a nightmare. Nothing serious. I'm sorry for worrying you." I said. He let out a sigh of relief.
"You scared me! Are you okay? Do you want to talk about it?" He asked with care. I smiled at my perfectly safe boyfriend. I just watched you fall out of my window... I can't talk about it... not right now. I shook my head.
"Are you okay?" I asked. He gave me a confused look.
"I'm fine. Your the one I'm worried about." He said. I nodded.
"If your fine, I'm fine. I'm sorry for waking you. Go back to sleep." I said.
"You sure? Everything is good?" He asked. I nodded again. He smiled at me. "Okay then, go back to bed too. I'll see you in a couple hours." He said.
"Goodnight." I said. He nodded and laid back down. I did the same as I stared at the ceiling. Mom... that was so scary. I can't handle things like that, please keep such nightmares away from me. I took a deep breath. I tried to go back to sleep, but I couldn't. I rolled around countless times, but the fear of having that nightmare again kept me wide awake.
Finally, I stood up and decided to get a cup of water. I walked downstairs and neared the kitchen, where I saw that the light was on. Curiously, I peered through the door to see Elizabeth cooking.
"Elizabeth? Why are you up so early?" I asked. She looked up at me and smiled.
"Oh, good morning Jamie! Your father wanted some food to take to work for his coworkers today, so I had to get up early to make it." She explained. "What about you? Why are you up?" She asked. I sighed and walked into the kitchen, sitting down at the chairs near the counter. I put my head down on my folded arms.
"I had the most horrible nightmare." I said. Elizabeth looked at me with an interested look.
"What kind of nightmare?" She asked. I took a shaky breath and explained. While I did, Elizabeth nodded and listened intently. Once I was done explaining, Elizabeth sighed.
"I'm so sorry Jamie, that must have been horrible to witness. But... you know full-well, that nightmare has all the qualities of being a true event. You know your father would do that if he found out." She explained. I shook my head.
"I would never let that happen. Never. He can hurt me all he wants, but he can't touch Jimin." I said.
"I don't want him to touch either of you, which is why I'm so scared for your relationship." She said.
"My mom is watching. She is going to protect me." I explained. Elizabeth gave me a sad look and nodded.
"Just... be careful." She said. I nodded.
Then, Elizabeth gave me a plate of food for breakfast. I didn't even realize, but it was already 6:45 am, meaning that I had to go to school soon. After eating, I got ready and dashed out of the door before my father woke up. I was out before Jimin, so I decided to hide and scare him. I stood beside his front door and waited for him to come.
Five minutes passed, then ten, yet he still didn't come out.
"What's taking him so long?" I asked myself. I waited a bit longer and soon enough, the door opened.
"BOO!" I screamed, jumping out and scaring the person in front of me. However, to my surprise, it was not Jimin, but a man. He looked like he was in his forties, and he looked important and intimidating. He looked at me, shocked. I quickly realized the situation and bowed.
"I-I am so sorry, I thought you were someone else." I said. Then suddenly, Jimin popped out from behind the man, and came over to me.
"Oh, father, this is my girlfriend Jamie." He said, introducing us. Then he turned to me. "Jamie, this is my dad. He flew in this morning and he is staying for a few days." He said. My eyes widened as my heart rate accelerated.
F-Father?!
I quickly bowed.
"Good morning, my name is Kim Jamie. Once again I am so, so sorry for scaring you like that, it was meant for Jimin." I said, blushing in embarrassment.
"Kim Jamie... what does your father do?" His father asked.
"Oh, he is a company owner for different merchandise. He handles the shipping of products from Korea to the United States, which is why we live here. He has a company that was recently relocated here." I explained. His father looked at me up and down. His stare was twice as intimidating as Jimin's mother's, and that was saying a lot.
He cleared his throat before continuing.
"Alright, get to school. You two don't want to be late." He said.
"Okay, bye dad." Jimin plainly said. I quickly bowed before Jimin grabbed my wrist and dragged me away.
Once we were safe from hearing distance, Jimin let out a deep breath.
"Whew! Was I the only one suffocating in that situation?" He said. I stayed quiet as I followed.
"What's wrong Jamie?" He added. I was in my own thoughts as I continued forward, trudging with my crutches, until I soon realized that Jimin was no longer walking with me. I looked back to see him with a curious face. I sighed.
"I'm sorry." I said. He caught up with me.
"About what?" He asked.
"Your parents... they don't like me." I said. Jimin shook his head.
"What? No, it's not that they don't like you, it's that they don't know you. Don't worry, they're normally this intimidating. They were like that with Bangtan too at first, but my mom grew to love them, while my father was too busy to even care. He will be gone in a few days, and he will forget about me and you, so don't worry about it." He said. I shook my head.
"No, but I can't help but think about that. What can I do to make them like me? I mean I just feel bad." I said, putting my head down. Jimin took my chin and lifted it. He put his nose against mine as he smiled.
"Don't worry about it. The only person you need to care about liking you is me, and trust me, you don't need to worry about that." He said as he kissed my nose. I smiled as I blushed.
"Okay..." I said uneasily. He clasped my hand.
"Come on, we're going to be late." He said. I nodded and we moved forward.

Sixth period is finally over, and the boys came out from the locker room. The whole day had gone by so slowly, and I didn't understand why. I stood up and grabbed my crutches, only to have someone come behind and wrap their arms around me.
"You won't need the crutches if you let me carry you." Jimin said with a sweet tone into my ear. I laughed.
"With your jelly arms, I don't think so." I said.
"What? Jelly?!" He said as he lifted me bridal style and spun me around. I shrieked as I laughed, putting my head back. He laughed along with me until we realized that the rest of the boys were staring at us.
"I want a girlfriend." Jhope said.
"Me too." Rap Monster added.
"I want to see my girlfriend." Taehyung said as he walked off. The guys glared and grunted at him.
"You guys know that literally any girl in this school would love to date you right?" I asked.
"Yeah, but we don't like the girls at this school." Jin said. I shook my head.
"Because you guys don't make the effort to try and get to know them. Not all of them are crazy you know." I reasoned.
"I need a girl with a personality like mine. That's hard to find." Suga said.
"What kind of personality?" I asked.
"They have to be down to earth and obviously they need swag." He said as he smirked.
"Basically he needs someone lazy and serious." Jungkook said, earning a smack on the back of the head by his hyung.
"How about you kookie? How are you doing?" Jhope asked. Jungkook just blushed.
"Speaking of which, I have someone to meet. I'll see you guys later." He said as he scurried off. We watched as he walked out and we smiled.
"He's all grown up." Jimin said. Then, I realized that I was still in his arms.
"You can put me down now." I said. He shook his head.
"No you called my arms jelly. I'm going to hold you until they turn into rocks." He said. Just then, Momo came in and I turned to her. She saw us and stopped. I tried to squirm out of his embrace, but seeing the situation, he just tightened his grip on me.
"So hey guys, my dad is home." Jimin said.
"Oh really? We should go say hi to him today." Rap Monster said.
"Sorry, how about tomorrow? I want to practice a bit longer with Jamie." Jimin said. They nodded.
"Okay then, we'll be going then." Jin said as all of them grabbed their bags. Momo lagged behind, sitting in the corner on her phone.
"Hey Momo, Jamie and I need the practice room to choreograph." Jimin said.
"Go ahead, I don't mind." She mentioned. I darted my eyes towards Jimin, who looked back at me.
"Um... are you waiting for someone?" Jimin asked.
"You said your dad was home. I want to say hi to him later." She said.
"You can come with Bangtan tomorrow, I want some alone time with my girlfriend please?" He asked. Momo's eye slightly twitched at that.
"No, Jimin, it's fine, I--"
"I'm leaving." Momo interrupted me as she got up sighing. "Enjoy your time together." She said almost sarcastically as she left. I could tell that she was mad, and I couldn't help but to feel bad.
"I mean it was fine..." I said.
"No, it would have been awkward for all three of us." Jimin said as he walked to the boom box.
"Shall we get started?" He asked. I nodded as he turned on the music, and Jimin showed me everything he came up with.
.
.
After three hours of dancing, Jimin and I crashed onto the floor, covered in sweat. We had established about half of the dance now, and it was amazing. We were now just sitting and talking on the floor, when Jimin's phone rang.
"Hello?" He answered. "Yeah hi. I'm at school, I was choreographing for dance." He explained. I watched as his expression suddenly turned slightly serious. His eyes met mine before he continued. "Okay, okay I'm on my way." He finally said as he hung up. Then he looked at me and smiled.
"Hey, my dad's calling me to come home. Apparently my family and I are going out for dinner." He explained. He slowly eased into a hint of something as he lagged his words.
"Okay let's go." I said, but before I could get up, he grabbed my hand.
"And... he's wondering if you want to come along." He added. My eyes widened.
"W-What?" I asked.
"Yeah... he wants to get to know the kind of girl you are. You know... who I'm dating." He added. I started to feel really nervous.
"Um... but what if he doesn't like me, what if I screw something up?" I asked.
"Hey, hey, relax. I'll be right there next to you, and I keep telling you this, but it doesn't matter if my parents like you or not. I love you. That is all that matters. Okay?" He said. I nodded.
"Okay, I'll text and ask Elizabeth. For now let's get going. We don't want your parents to wait long." I said. He nodded as we got up. Then, we grabbed our stuff and were on our way. Meanwhile, my heart raced as Elizabeth replied, allowing me to join Jimin's family for dinner.
I took a deep breath. I'm so scared. They already don't like me. What can I do to make them like me? How can I look good in their eyes? I battled myself with various questions as I finally turned to Jimin and said very steadily,
"Jimin? I can go."
