Chapter 16
00:38, 25 July 2017Macy woke up with dread in her stomach and fear swirling in her mind. She did everything Matt asked from perfecting her make up to wearing the outfit he picked out, a skimpy black dress with black edge. Her caramel hair was curled and when she looked in the mirror she wanted to hurl. The plan was simple. Flirt with Colby and pick pocket his phone, add her number send fake texts, and make it seem like they have been secretly dating since day one. She already felt so ashamed just thinking about it but this was only phase one of many. She could already picture loner Sam crying his heart out. Macy believed in soul mates and those boys had found theirs in each other. Macy wanted to do nothing more than to punch Matt Rangers in the face and to give him a beating of his life but small little Macy did as she was told in fear that Rangers would rearrange her face with his fists. That was the thing about Matt he couldn't care about genders or how small one was, if you got on his bad side you got hit and for some reason Sam always seemed to be on his bad side just for existing.
Sam woke up with what felt like stones in his stomach. He wanted to do nothing but meet Colby at the same park they sat at yesterday and watch the clouds roll by. He wanted to cuddle into Colby's side on that small park bench and let the Kansas air swaddle them in cold as they desperately find warmth in one another. Sam wanted to spend the day with Colby to forget school and the horrendous words still probably written on his locker. He wanted to to do anything but go to school. Instead he did the exact thing he hated as he filled his school bag with books and missing assignments he didn't even know he had. His heart felt heavy, his only solstice was the fact that he didn't have to face school alone, he had Colby. The boy he was madly and desperately in love with. His boyfriend. It felt weird to refer to Colby as boyfriend but at the same time the way the word seemed to roll off his tongue, boyfriend, it almost tasted as sweet as love. Love. When was it the appropriate time to say it? Was there a length Sam had to wait? If there was the blonde boy didn't know it, hell he thought there was a certain time length before one could become boyfriends but that didn't seem to exist for the two boys. Sam shook his head ridding thoughts of love and boyfriends as he left the house in a grey sweatshirt, greeted by the cool morning. The stones only got heavier as Sam walked his way towards the dreaded school building.
Colby knew something was wrong as soon as he walked into the school. No pictures or slang were posted and no one said anything to the messy haired boy. In fact students seemed to move out of his way like they use to when he wore his leather jacket. Colby wanted nothing more than to latch on to Sam's hand for support but the blonde boy was no where insight, knowing Sam, Colby assumed he was taking his time with his walk to school to busy daydreaming. He let out a content sight, the thought of Sam calming him slightly. It wasn't until he saw some girl leaning against his locker did his suspicion grow again, "Uh excuse me, could you move?" Colby tried his hardest to be polite but he knew something was going on and all he wanted was Sam.
"Colby! I've been waiting for you!" Colby blinked back a surprise as the girl in front of him shot him a small smile, her green eyes swirled with something Colby couldn't put his finger on. Her greeting was cheerful and her smile was sweet, the little bit of personality Colby saw surely didn't match up with her short dress and made up face. She was gorgeous but she wasn't his type, she would have been leather jacketed Colby's type though but even with that thought Colby felt guilty wishing more and more that Sam was there, "Uh I'm sorry do I know you?"
"Colby, it's me Macy. The girl of your dreams." Macy winked as the sentence came out flat as she said it with gritted teeth. Colby wasn't sure why the girl was forcing herself to drop corny pick up lines to him but let her, "Ha, yeah um could you move so I could get to my locker, I need to get in it besides I'm waiting for some one and I would rather wait alone." Sam, Sam, Sam, all he wanted was the blonde hair boy to be beside him so they could figure out what the hell was going on in the first place. From the cleared path to some strange girl hitting on him, Colby wanted out with Sam by his side. "Oh but Colby I waited along time for you." She pouted but the feisty line and pout didn't reach her eyes. "Come on Macy, I can clearly see you aren't into what ever it is you're trying to do." Colby muttered wishing his boyfriend wasn't such a slow walker and a constant daydreamer.
"Oh Colby." Macy giggled as she launched into his arms pulling him close to her. Colby struggled to push her off too stunned to even think properly. Macy just squeezed as she let out a little whimper, "Colby?" Immediately like a trained puppy Colby's heart began to beat fast at the sound of Sam's voice. His heart breaking a bit at the sound of his strained voice. Quickly Colby pushed Macy off of him as Sam turned to walk away. Colby wanted to follow him but decided against it deciding to deal with Macy instead.
Sam walked out of the school as he tried to calm himself down. Colby surely had a reasonable explanation as to why a girl was hugging him. Sam felt his fist clench at the thought of someone else touching Colby but his mind tsked in disappointment. Sam knew Colby was a human being not a prize or object that belonged to him. Colby could have friends male or female, Colby could hug these friends and hang out with them. Sam drew in a deep breath turning around ready to apologize for over reacting. Sam knew he had to apologize and knew it was idiotic to just make assumptions but that didn't stop his heart from cracking and jealousy to seep through his veins.
Both boys tried to handle what small problems they had neither aware of the storm that was clearly ahead.
