Chapter 7

05:01, 22 February 2021

"Hi, I'm Ethan Nestor, and today I'll be your host. For what you ask? Well, for the newly weds game of course! But who are the newlyweds? Ladies and gentleman, give it up for Mr and Mrs Marksepticbooper!" Ethan announces to the camera with a wide guesture at the two sitting across from one another, with a second camera focused on them. Mark blushes slightly, but forces himself to hide it as Jack fans his face and bats his eye lashes playfully.

"That name sucks." Mark chuckles, twisting his neck to look at Ethan, who puts both hands on his hips.

"I'm sorry, but who's the host here!?" He snaps sassily, causing both to chuckle.

"The host doesnt decide the couple's last names." Jack adds in Mark's defense, also looking toward Ethan.

"Alright then what do YOU want to be called?" Ethan questions, tossing his arms over his chest. Mark and Jack share a look.

"Uhh.. Jackiplier?" Mark offers, earning a terse shake of the head from both.

"Jarki..." Jack tries, but his voice fades dismissively. There's a solid moment of silence, until Ethan slaps a hand on the table explosively.

"Septiplier!" He bellows excitedly, his eyes darting wildly between the two, who share a look and nod their heads in approval.

"Aha! So the host SHOULD decide the names!" Ethan chants victoriously before abruplty moving on.

"So, if you dont know how the newlywed game works, then let me explain! I'll be asking questions to each of them about their 'spouse'," Ethan wiggles his eyebrows at the camera, "And they will have to respond! You see we have a whiteboard here for our lovely contestants to write their answers on, while the other will state aloud their response before the whiteboard is revealed- Ya know what just watch, it'll make sense in a minute!" Ethan chuckles, his eyes finding the list of questions on the table before him.

"Our first question goes to Jack." He states, glancing up from the paper to ensure that Jack is paying attention.

"Jack, what is your spouses favorite color?" Ethan asks. Jack narrows his eyes as he watches Mark jot his answer down onto the whiteboard, the answer just out of veiw.

"I think most people would guess pink but I'm pretty sure its red." Jack says aloud, searching Mark's expression for a right or wrong answer. Mark smirks as he spins the whitboard to the camera.

"Correct!" Ethan announces, marking a point down for the two of them. Jack pumps his arm sucessfully before taking the whiteboard from Mark.

"Mark, same question." Ethan says with an open handed point at Jack. Mark chuckles slightly as Jack scribbles something down onto the whiteboard.

"This isnt a fair question, because you're colorblind, and everyone associates you with green!" Mark teases, earning a look from Jack.

"I'm only a little colorblind!" Jack defends himself as he tucks the whiteboard closer to further protect his answer. Mark shakes his head dismissively.

"Its red, right?" He answers with the slightest bit of hesitance. Jack lifts his eyebrows.

"Is that your final answer?" He asks with a mischievious smile. Mark narrows his eyes, sensing that Jack is trying to throw him off.

"Yes."

Jack grins as he flips the whiteboard to Ethan and the camera.

"Correct! Two points to Gryffindor!" Ethan mimicks jokingly as he marks another point for the two. Earning soft chuckles as the two switch once more.

The questions bounce around, from favorite foods, to who snores more, to what gift they love most from the other. They get all of these questions correct with ease.

"Okay, Mark, whats Jacks favorite breakfast food?" Ethan asks, watching as Jack immediateky begins scrawling across the whiteboard.

"Choclate chip pancakes with bacon." Mark belts out before Jack had even finished writing, casuing Jack to pause and glance up at him past his eyebrow in surprise.

"Wow." He murmurs quietly to himself, hqving caught himself in the midst of writing that exact answer. A blush forms across his cheeks, to which Mark grins proudly at.

"Is he correct?" Ethan questions almost unnecessarily, he mostly asked for the cameras. Jack spins his half written answer toward the camera, but his eyes never leave the raven haired man sitting across from him.

"Chocolate chi-" Ethan reads aloud, having to squint at the board to read Jack's hurried writing. "Close enough!! Your turn." He says with a floaty guesture between the two to hand over the whiteboard.

"Ok, Jack, whats his favorite breakfast foo-"

"Pancakes made the way his dad made them, batter in the fridge over night, then covered with lots of syrup." Jack interrupts, a proud grin on his face now. Mark hadnt even bothered to start writing his answer, he just chuckles and nods to Ethan confirmingly.

"Shit, at this rate we wont need the whiteboard anymore!" Ethan jokes, marking another point in the correct collumn of the scoreboard.

"No!" Mark pouts, tucking the whiteboard to his chest.

"Dont take the whiteboard!" Jack climbs onto the joke with a faux plea to Ethan.

"Alright! Alright you can have the silly whiteboard, but can we at least wait to belt out the answers until its been written down?" Ethan says noncholantly. He doesnt very much care either way, he's just playing the host chatacter for the video after all.

"Okay." "Fine." The two grumble in unison, as Mark strokes the back of the whiteboard like it was somehow precious to him. Jack smirks, while Ethan rolls his eyes.

"Alright, well we have 8 points so far, an unbroken winning streak from Team Septiplier! Our next question is to Mark: What is Jack's favorite holiday?" Jack jots something down quickly with a beaming smile.

"Easy, Saint Patty's day." Mark responds quickly, without much thought. Jack's smile falls away instantly.

"What?" Mark questions after a moment of silence.

"How dare-! Is it cause I'm Irish? You just assume that all of us like St PADDY'S yes, PADDY, by the way, not PATTY you gobshite! Do you know how racist you sound!" Jack goes off on an almost unintelligable tangent for a moment, rattling off in his Irish noise making ways until he throws the marker at Mark, standing with finality to walk off camera, shouting behind him, "I want a divorce!" Before falling into fits of laughter.

Both Mark and Ethan fall victim to the laughter as well, as they were both surpressing chuckles throughout Jack's little rant. It was hard not to giggle, watching him uncharacteristically blow up over something so minor and silly.  Jack strides back to his seat, still chuckling to himself.

"Sorry, I couldnt resist." He apologises, reaching over to rub the spot that the marker made impact.

"I deserve it, I should know my wife better." He jokes in return, earning a slap in place of the soothing rubbing.

"Owe!" He jokes, rubbing the sore spot for himself as he turns to pout at Ethan.

"Did you see that too? So abusive!" He says accusatorily at Jack, who pretends to wind up a backhand, to which Mark jokingly lets out a shriek.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, lets get back on track now you two!" Ethan calls out past his breathless chuckling. After a moment of lighthearded giggling, the three compose themselves to continue on with the game.

"Wowie..." Ethan says, forcing back any signs of the previous giggling as he imagines the edits that could be put in, leaving in Jack's rant, static cutting briefly to Mark's shriek, then cutting back to Jack saying he wants a divorce as he strides off camera.

"Now that we have our contenstants settled from a little... newlywed quarrel, back to our question at hand. Mark, you answered St Patt-"

"St PADDY." Jack immeditately corrects.

"Right, right..." Ethan says, pretending to cower, clearning his throat slightly.

"Jack, what was your answer?" He gently asks, pretending to avoid poking the bear. Jack spins the board to the camera, making serious eye contact with Mark.

"Christmas! Ooh, the end to our winning streak. Who knew?" Ethan announces to the room. Mark tries to force back a chuckle but fails, and tries to mask it with a cough. Jack breaks character with a smile. Jack passes back the whiteboard to Mark, and both direct their attention back to Ethan.

"Alright boys, for our final question, Jack, what is Mark's favorite holiday?" Ethan inquires wirh a raised eyebrow. Jack quirks his lip in thought for a moment, watching Mark's hand glide across the whiteboard in seemingly arbitrary ways, gaining no clues as he so hoped. Glancing up, Mark catches the uncertainty in Jack's expression.

"Yeah, Jack whats my favorite holiday?" Mark teases, mysterious smirk on his face.

"H-Halloween?" Jack tentatively states, his shoulders shrugging up to his ears as if they could hide his shame. Mark grins, spinning the board into Jack's veiw proudly. Jack groans disappointedly, burrying his face in his hands as he realises Mark hadnt actually erased Jack's previous answer, but instead simply added a border around the word X-mas.

"Oooh, tough luck kid. But that leaves your score of 8/10 meaning your compatability is through the roof!" Ethan turns directly to the camera now, a grin on his face.

"So you heard it here first, folks, Septiplier is the power couple of the year!! Show your support for them in the comments below, leaving a like, and subscribing today! I have been Ethan from Crankgameplays hosting, signing off for Markiplier and we will see all of you in the next video! buh-bye!" Ethan rambles before lifting his hand to mimick Mark's signature outro.

After a beat, he spins back to the two in their respective seats, searching for protest of his outro method, but instead recieving approving nods. He grins proudly, standing to stop the recording and disassemble the tripod, his focus on the camcorders battery condition and lengths of recording to make sure all is in order. Lifting his eyes, he notices the subtle look both Mark and Jack are sharing and a smile falls easily across his face. He was right after all, these two really do share something great, and he hopes they run with it, because it would be a shame to waste chemistry like this.

"Alright guys," Ethan interrupts the moment by clapping, making his way to the nearest light fixture."Lets get this cleaned up so I can go get some lunch." He announces as he clicks the light off and begins to wind the cord. Mark nods in agreement, standing with Jack on his heels to do the same with the next light as Jack makes his way to the second camera to pause its recording. After all is done, Jack hands Ethan the second camera, who nods confirmingly at the two.

"Great! So 'I'll get this edited together, and while I'm at it, do you want me to make a thumbnail too?" Ethan questions, his question directed at Mark, who guestures indifferently at the question.

"Its no big, if you get too busy just let me know and I'll make one out of whatever picture you pick."

Ethan rolls his eyes at Mark's comment.

"They'll both be done by tomorrow, I'll send them over for reveiw when I'm done and you can upload them whenever." He states matter of factly, waving both memory cards from the cameras in his farewell.

"Hey, Ethan," Mark calls after him as he steps out the door, but spins back with the call of his name.

"Thanks again..." Mark states, a bare smile on his lips. A pair of blue eyes dart in Jack's direction, but are quickly corrected as they fall back to Mark.

"Sure thing." Ethan notes in return, closing the door after himself. A moment of silents just barely sweeps the room until Jack breaks it, seemingly with an odd impatience.

"So," His voice reigns from behind Mark, sliding his hands around his hips and placing his chin on Mark's shoulder.

"What now?" His voice is low, almost cautious as if some fading presence may somehow overhear, as if his actions werent so much louder than his voice. Mark can feel his breath on his ear, his tone tantalizing and hinting, a mischeivous smirk crosses Mark's expression.

"Good question."
