CHAPTER 7

Lily's POV

As soon as I got to the great hall, sadness hit me. It wasn't my fault I was muggle-born. Maybe I DIDN'T deserve to be here. Maybe Petunia was right, I am just a freak. I went and sat down nect to Harry and he smiled at me. At least he must have taken after whoever his mother was when it came to being nice, and not his father's arrogance.

"Are you ready for the exam today Lizzie?" He asked me and Istarted to worry slightly. I had completely forgotten about the exam.

"If I'm honest, I completely forgot about the exam, but I think I'll be alright in it. How about you two?" I asked him and Ron, who shrugged.

"We normally wait until the night before to revise, and most of the time we wing it." I rolled my eyes. He was so much like his father with his laid back attitude towards exams.

"You really should put more effort in, or you'll fail." I said with a sigh and they both laughed.

"You sound  so much like Hermione when you say that." I decided not to say anything to that, and instead pulled a couple of sausages onto my plate and started to eat. Suddenly the main doors banged open and the Marauders and Hermione came in and made their way over to the three of us, where all of them but James sat down, instead he looked down at me.

"What do you want Mathews?" I asked him.

"Did it hurt?" He asked, loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, and I felt confused.

"Did what hurt?" I asked, aware that every student and teacher was watching, including Snape.

"When you fell out of heaven?" Ok, seriously?

"Oh piss off. I don't know what you're trying to do, but it's not working." I said irritably, and he looked hurt for a second then smirked.

"I'd better give them a call to let them know that they're missing their most beautiful angel." I felt my face grow hot with embarassment, but I refused to give him the response he wanted. I simply got up and left, my hair flying out behind me, annoyed that I let him get away with embarassing me like that.

James' POV

I watched Lily storm away, her face bright red from embarassment. At leat my plan was working...ish, then I sat down next to Harry. I wanted to find out why he didn't like going home and whether I'm a bad parent or not.

"So Harry...you mentioned that you didn't like going home, why is that?"

"Are you kidding? The Dursley's are horrible to him! They made him sleep under the stairs in his first-year and put bars on his window in second-year..." The Dursley's?

"Ron! Do you really think Harry wants you to be telling everyone that?" Hermione scaulded.

"The Dursley's?" Why did they sound horribly familiar?

"My aunt and uncle and their horrible son Dudley." Where the hell am I?"

"Why don't you stay with your parents?" Harry looked down sadly and I wondered what I had said.

"You don't know about Harry's parents? Where are you from? The whole wizarding world knows about it, why don't you?" Ron asked suspiciously.

"Ron, it doesn't matter," Harry muttered, then turned back to the Marauders. "My parents are dead." What? "They were killed by Voldemort when I was a baby. My dad faced him first to give my mum time to get me away, but he was killed. Then he killed my mum, but because my mum had refused to move out of the way to let Voldemort kill me, it protected me. So when Voldemort tried to kill me, the killing curse rebounded and Voldemort disappeared. From then on I was a worldwide celebrity and I was known at 'The chosen one' and 'The boy who lived.' I was forced to live with my mum's sister and her family and they HATE magic and told me that my parents died in a car crash. It wasn't until Hagrid crashed in and explained the truth on my 11th birthday that I actually knew I was a wizard." I gaped at him as a million questions swirled around in my head. I was dead?  How did he survive? Who was his mother? Why had he been sent to these Dursley people and not someone close; like Lily or Sirius, or Remus, or Peter?

"Why weren't you sent  to someone nicer? These people sound horrible."

"They are horrible, but Dumbledore made me stay there. They're my only family left if you don't count the Order of the Phoenix, or Sirius." I saw Sirius perk up at the mention of his name.

"Sirius?" He asked.

"Sirius Black, my godfather. He was a good friend of my parents whilst they were growing up."

"But so was Professor Lupin, and we didn't even know about him until third-year when he saved you on the train." Remus looked up, suddenly more interested now.

"PROFESSOR Lupin?" He asked?

"He was out D.A.D.A teacher in third-year, but left after a year. He taught me how to produce a patronus." A patronus? In third-year? Can my son get any more awesome?

"And Hermione punched Malfoy in the face!" Hermione frowned disapprovingly at Ron.

"Thank you Ronald, I wasn't actually going to mention that."

"Oh...sorry." Ron blushed and closed his mouth. The marauders sniggered

"That was also the year that the twins gave me the Marauder's map, so I could sneak into Hogsmede."

"Then Lupin confiscated it." Hermione reminded him.

"Hermione, I saw Pettigrew. He was assumed dead at that point." Harry turned back to the marauders. "I was looking at the map in the middle of the night and I saw the nametag; Peter Pettigrew, and at that point he was assumed dead. I went to look for him, but Snape found me and the map ended up insulting him when he triend to read it." I grinned and high-fived Sirius, earning a warning look from Hermione and a confused look from Harry before he continued. I noticed that Peter was looking worried and concerned. "But thankfully Professor Lupin was there, but he confiscated it, but at that point I didn't realise that he was one of the creaters of the map; Moony. We didn't learn properly about the Marauders until later in our time at Hogwarts. Prongs was my dad, Moony was Remus, Padfoot was Sirius and Wormtail was Pettigrew." Harry spat the name Wormtail and Pettigrew, which confused me. Why would he hate one of my friends?

"Wormtail was a bloody spineless coward. I can't believe it was HIM I was looking after all of that time." Ron said angrily. Wait, I'm missing something. What was wrong with Wormtail?

"What was wrong with Wormtail?" I asked sounding curious.

"He betrayed my parents to Voldemort." WHAT?! "Him, Sirius and Dumbledore were the only ones to know where they were when they went into hiding. Unfortunately, Sirius got blamed for it and ended up going to Azkaban for 12 years, until he broke out in my third-year to come to get revenge on Pettigrew, who had changed himself into Ron's rat; Scabbers." I was livid. One of the Marauders, that stupid Pettigrew betrayed me and my future wife to the most evil wizard in the whole of the wizarding world?!

"Oh really?" Sirius asked, looking as angry as I felt.

"Can I talk to you guys for a second?" Hermione said quickly and we all filed out of the great hall after her. "If any of you act on what you have found out, then you'll be messing with time. I know what Pettigrew has done, and if I can live with it, you can too." She said sternly to us and we all nodded. I regretted making that promise, because I really felt like killing him right now.

"What? We're not allowed to even torture him a little bit?

I'm right here you know! I haven't done anything yet!" Peter said, but we ignored him.

"No." I suppose I would just have to live with it for now.

Lily's POV

I sat silently in the main hall, finishing off my exam. Professor Umbridge was stood at the front. It wasn't too difficult and thankfully the things that I had revised was in the exam. I watched as the boys struggled and I chuckled to myself. They should have revised. Idiots. I saw that Hermione was finished and had been for the past 10 minutes, and was going through every answer carefully, to make sure that every answer was right. Like she needed to check, she was the brightest witch of her age. Suddenly there was a boom from the back of the class. I looked back and saw that there was nothing there, but there was a banging coming from the main door. Umbridge looked worried and made her way to teh back and when she opened the door, one of Fred and George's fireworks fizzed in her face. Oh god, what had they planned this time?

"All right professor?" Fred and George suddenly flew in on their broomsticks and threw fireworks everywhere and they exploded, showering colourful sparks everywhere. Umbridge looked like she was about to explode and I had to admit that it was funny. "Here you go!" They dropped small fireworks that exploded into tiny ones and I gasped in delight at them. Whoever thought that fireworks could be so magical? I laughed when I saw Filch run in with a muggle broom. What the hell was that going to do? "Ready when you are!" The twins suddenly dropped a massive firework adn it exploded into the shape of a dragon, then chased Umbridge out of the room, exploding into smaller fireworks, destroying all of her rules. Then everyone cheered and followed Fred and George out of the hall, and I watched as they flew up into the air and fireworks formed the shape of a big 'W' in the sky to stand for Weasley and we all cheered happily. Even I was grateful to be rid of Umbridge for a few minutes. Suddenly Harry, who was standing beside me collapsed and me and Hermione quickly ran to his side.

"Sirius." Wait, what? Why did he just call out Sirius' name? He then went on to explain that he'd had a vision of their present Sirius being tortured by Voldemort and he had to go and save him. The Marauders, me, Ron and Hermione followed him as he led us to Umbridges classroom, explaining that he was going to go to rescue him by floo. But of course we said that we were coming with him because we were in it together.

"That. You. Are." We all turned around to see Umbridge standing there. We were grabbed by some Slytherin students and they also brought Ginny, Neville and Luna up to the office. She sat Harry down on a chair to question him. "You were going to Dumbledore, weren't you?" She asked in her sickly sweet voice.

"No."

"Liar!" She slapped Harry hard around the face and we all cried out protests, only to be silenced by the Slytherins.

"You sent for me headmistress?" I looked up and saw Severus at the door. How could he be helping an evil witch like Umbridge?? I glared at him and made a note to slap him when we got back to our own time.

"Snape, yes. The time has come for answers, whether he wants to give them to me or not. Have you brought the Veritaserum?" No! How could he do this?

"I'm afraid you've used up my stores interrogating students." Hang on, he's lying. He always held his hands when he was lying. He was trying to help us! I smiled at him and he nodded subtly so Umbridge didn't notice. "The last of it on Miss Chang." So that's why she told Umbridge. "Unless you wish to poison him -- and I assure you, I would have the greatest sympathy if you did. -- I cannot help you." Severus turned to leave.

"He's got Padfoot." Sirius? How did he know Sirius' nickname? Severus stopped suddenly and turned around. "He's got Padfoot at the place where it's hidden." Very clever. Very, very clever. He must have gotten that from his mother, either that or it's it father's clever habit of getting messages across by using secret names. I must remember to ask who his mother is.

"Padfoot? What is Padfoot? Where what is hidden? What is he talking about, Snape?" Please don't say anything, please don't say anything.

"No idea." Thank Merlin for that! Once Severus had left Umbridge threatened to use the Crutiatus curse on Harry to get him to talk, then Hermione blurted out something about a secret weapon, and I knew immediately that she was lying and making it up on the spot. Once they had left, ron cleverly managed to persuade the Slytherins to eat some Puking Pastilles so we could get away and we ended up meeting Harry, and Hermione on the bridge.

"How'd you get away?" Hermione asked.

"Puking Pastilles," Ginny answered. "It wasn't pretty."

"Told them I was hungry and wanted sweets. They told me to bugger off and at the lot themselves." Ron said, proud of his quick thinking.

"That was clever, Ron." I tried hard not to laugh at the surprise in Hermione's voice.

"Has been known to happen." He said modestly.

"It was brilliant." Neville said.

"Yeah, you should have seen it." James said.

"Can't believe WE didn't think of that." Sirius laughed and Remus and I rolled our eyes at them. For some reason, the others didn't want Peter to come with us, which seemed strange, but he did seem a little put out earlier. Maybe he's unwell.

"So, how are we getting to London?" Neville asked once the boys had stopped laughing.

"Look, it's not that I don't appreciate everything that you've done, all of you. But, I've got you into enough trouble as it is." Harry said and I immidiately wanted to hug him. He was so brave and never asked for any help, even when he needs it.

"Dumbledore's Army was supposed to be aboout doing something real. Or was all that just words to you?" Neville challenged.

"Maybe you don't have to do this all by yourself, mate." Ron pointed out and Harry smiled slightly at us. We were all willing to fight with him and for him and nothing could change our minds.

"So how ARE we getting to London?" Harry asked and Luna smiled.

"We fly of course." She said in her light, happy voice.

Soon we were all on Thestrals, flying to London. I felt much safer than when I was on a broom, as I didn't like flying much. But the feeling of the wind whipping past my face was soothing but exhilarating. We arrived at the department of Mysteries and I had a bad feeling about this. A really bad feeling.
