Chapter 10. My Escape Attempt

The next morning was a little less awkward. After I told Sasuke my story, he felt obliged to tell me his. The murder of his clan, his brother. His revenge. 

We had our little moments and then ate breakfast. 

Don't think i've forgotten my escape plans. Wait, the handcuffs. Ugh. But then again, Sasuke was part of team 7. Maybe i COULD convince him to come with me.

"Hey saaaasuke." I sang.

"No, we're not going after team 7." He stated strictly.

"Buuut." I pouted my lips."What if they die!"

"It's a b-rank mission."

"Still, they're out of the village, someone could kill them."

"Kakashi sensei's a jonin."

"And?"

This bickering went on and on, till FINALLY he broke a little.

"will you SHUT UP." He put emphasis on the last two words.

"Come on sasuke, isn't it punishment enough that i'm handcuffed to you? Like. No privacy AT ALL, for both of us. I think Kakashi forgot to think this one through.

He agreed to that one. "Yeah.. I suppose. Fine, lets go. But you'll owe me." 

I nodded. "Whatever, come on." I dragged him and soon we were racing after our team.

We ran straight  and stopped at a place in the woods.

"Look, there are marks on the tree. And blood on the ground. There must've been a fight." I said and smirked. "Aren't you glad I dragged you here?"

No response. Unless you count "Hn." For a response.

We ran the whole day without breaks and at night we stopped near a body of water that we had to cross to get to the land of waves. (Haha i got sasuke to spill all the info :D )

"Great, how are we going to get across this." Sasuke said, bummed.

"Do you know how to walk on water?" I asked. It was fairly easy once you knew basic chakra control.

He shook his head and i dragged him to the water. "Well come on, i'll teach you."

"First, focus the chakra at your feet. You have to keep it changing, to move along with the water, like this." I stood on the water easily.

He nodded and tried a few times. And failed. 

Failed again.

and again.

He fell, and i fell in with him thanks to the cuffs.

I just about gave up and decided to carry him across on my back in the morning, when he FINALLY got it. We just decided to start again in the morning because he was exhausted from the chakra training, and i was just tired from all the running. 

Sasuke took his shirt off right before we were about to go to sleep. 

"WOAH WOAH WOAH, WHAT'RE YOU DOING." 

He smirked. "Well i definitely don't want to catch a cold, it's already a bit breezy. You can too, i don't care."

I smashed his head in. "BAKA, I'M A GIRL."

"Clearly." He muttered, rubbing his head.

We found a good spot to sleep and layed down. As the baka said, a breeze passed by.

 I shivered.

I felt arms around me. Sasuke's arms.

"What are you doing?" I asked. 

"Isn't it obvious. I'm being a gentleman and keeping you warm."

I rolled my eyes. Sasuke, a gentleman? lol. But i had to admit, he was warm. His body his was radiating and it felt good, since my cold wet clothes were just sticking to my body in the breeze.

"Pft, fiiiiine." 

Everything was silent, and i fell asleep.

And that night, I didn't wake up from nightmares. For the first time since i got to Konoha.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.

*The next morning.

I opened my eyes. It was morning and i could feel myself cuddled into sasuke.

Wow, this was really awkward. I elbowed him in the face.

"Ow! What was that for Hatake?"

"Well, It's morning and my clothes are dry, so i don't need your body heat any more." I said with a cheeky smile.

"Cruel b****." He muttered.

I elbowed him in the face again. "Come on Uchiha, Let's see what you remember from last night.

I ran across the water no problem. Uchiha fell in a couple of times, but that's perfectly normal, considering that he just learned this yesterday. I would have laughed, but i fell in the water too, so... no. 

Once we reached the land of waives, we wandered the streets. I saw a guy selling fish. "Hey, do you know any drunk guys that are building bridges around here?" I asked.

"Tazuna?" He asked.

Sasuke nodded his head.

"Yeah good old Tazuna. He lives blah blah blha." Sasuke got the directions off we went, riding into the sunset.. just kidding. We just went to Tazuna's house.

A girl opened the door and introduced herself as Tsunami. We told her that we were part of Kakashi's team and that we were a little delayed because of obvious reasons. ( The handcuffs.)

A little boy peeked out from under her leg. "Inari, go inside and tell the ninjas that reinforcements have arrived." 

"Mom, they went out for training, remember?" He said.

"Oh, right. Well, come on in, i'll show you to your rooms. Or. er. Room." She said looking at the handcuffs.

"Oh don't worry about this, Kakashi Uncle has the key." I said.

"Uncle?" She asked. I nodded. "Yeah, I'm his brother's kid."

"Well, thank you for coming. I appreciate you guys protecting my dad, i know sometimes he can be a baka."

I laughed. "Ohhh, he can't be THAT bad."

"Hey Tsunami, who's the little girl?" A old man appeared behind Tsunami. 

I got an anime vein. little? 

"I AM NOT LITTLE OR SHORT I AM OF AVERAGE HEIGHT." I yelled, ready to knock some sense into this guy. Who does he think he is?

I was ready to race forward, but sasuke stood his ground and held me back. "Baka! This is the bridge builder we're supposed to protect!" 

I growled. I'm supposed to protect this drunk, sleazy old.. i'll stop there. I can see what Tsunami meant.

"Whatever old man, just try to stay out of my way while i save your life, got it?" I said.

Tsunami showed us the room we'd be staying in. It had two beds, so we had to push them next to each other so we didn't have to share one bed. Thankfully.

So there we were chilling in our room when the door banged open. and behold..

Kakashi sensei. 

Uh-oh.

****** dramatic pause *******

"So, my little delinquent showed up after all. And look who came with her." He glared at sasuke. His eyes widened. 

"She forced me too!" He yelled.

"I thought of all people, you'd be the one who could... Never mind about that. Now that you guys are here i'll fill you in."

He told us about the two ninja attacks and zabuza showing up. and his suspicions that he's still alive. 

"Great, now i'll get a shot at him." I said with glittering eyes. I wasn't going to lie, i was pretty eager to fight zabuza momochi. He's pretty well known.

"Uh, no. You're leaving that to me. You're job is to protect Tazuna and not get injured, okay? Now. Sakura and Naruto are training. I've been teaching them some basic chakra control. Maki, i know you already have this down, Sasuke, come with me and i'll get you started." He said.

I cleared my throat. "Kakashi sensei, aren't you forgetting something?" I said, raising mine and sasuke's wrists that were handcuffed together.

He coughed. "Oh, uh about that..."

This can't be good.

"I lost the key when i was fighting Zabuza..."

It took a minute to process.

Then i started freaking out.

"WHAT?! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO FIGHT ONE OF THE LEGENDARY SWORDSMAN OF THE MIST HANDCUFFED TO AN UCHIHA? YOU'VE RUINED MY LIFE UNCLE, DAMN YOU, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH."

Kakashi put his hand over my mouth. "Watch the language Maki."

I glared at him. I had a right. He freakin' lost the key! How the hell was i supposed to live my life handcuffed to this baka!

"Calm down Maki, We'll find a way out of this." Sasuke grumbled.

I understand his pain.

"Oh, don't think you two can avoid punishment for disobeying me." Kakashi did his close eyed smile and walked out the door dragging us with him as we groaned.

Wasn't looking forward to another intense workout session that leaves me in bed for hours.

We were dragged to the woods where naruto was.

"Hey guys! I thought you were supposed to stay at the village maki?"

"It's complicated." I grumbled to my best friend who chatted with me for a couple of seconds before starting up his training again.

Kakashi lectured sasuke about chakra for a bit before telling him to walk up a tree without using his hands.

I smirked. "Well that should be pretty easy since i taught him how to walk on water. We ran across the lake to get here." 

Kakashi looked impressed. "My neice is 12 years younger than me and already stealing my students, huh?" He said, ruffling my hair and messing it up.

I growled at him. "Yup. But sasuke, this is a bit different, you have to keep the chakra that your sending to your feet steady. " He nodded, and we walked up the tree.

I guess his chakra was too strong because he was pushed off the tree. We flipped and landed. Kakashi clapped. "Great teamwork guys, looks like the handcuffs got you synchronized."

I shot him a glare before trying with Sasuke again.

Let's just say, him and Naruto were going to be training all night, trying to master simple chakra control.

Oh boy, this was going to be one boring night.

Well, their rivalry is interesting. Kinda, not really.

Ugh, i just want to go to sleep. But no, i'm stuck walking and running up trees.

Why did he have to handcuff me to this baka?
