🖤STRAY KIDS FANFICTION: The Witness (1) 🔥
13:06, 7 April 2025The knife didn't pierce your skin, but it didn't have to—the weight of it alone made your whole body lock up. You could feel the tremble in your hands despite how tightly the ropes bound you. Your heart pounded like it was trying to punch its way out of your chest. 💔💥
Hyunjin leaned closer, his lips grazing your ear, voice dipped in amusement. "You saw something you weren't supposed to, pretty girl."
Pretty girl? In any other situation, maybe you would've blushed—but right now, all you felt was raw terror.
🩸You tried to swallow, but your throat felt like sandpaper. "I-I didn't mean to— I was just—walking home—" you choked out, your voice cracking.
Bang Chan didn't move. He didn't flinch. Just watched you like a lion watches a cornered deer. "48 hours in surgery... then you just happened to wander down the alley where our business was going down?" he said slowly, each word hitting like a slap. "Nah, doc. I don't believe in coincidences."
Your stomach dropped. Was this it? Was this how it ended? After saving lives every single day... yours was gonna get snatched by a gang in a forgotten warehouse?
"Chan," a voice piped up from the group—Lee Know, his arms crossed, leaning against the wall like this was a game show and he was bored of the episode. "If we're gonna kill her, can we at least not do it before I eat? I skipped dinner for this."
"Shut up," Chan said calmly, never looking away from you. "She's useful. She's not dead yet."
Not dead yet. 💀
You flinched as Hyunjin finally pulled the knife away, but his hand lingered on your jaw, forcing you to look up at him. He had this twisted curiosity in his eyes, like he was trying to read you. "You're cute when you're scared. Makes me wanna ruin you a little," he whispered with a smile that was anything but kind.
"Back off," a gruff voice cut in. Seungmin.
He stepped forward, his eyes less wild but somehow colder—the kind of cold that didn't explode like Hyunjin, but froze you slowly. "She's not for playing with. She's leverage."
Leverage? Against who??
Chan finally stepped forward, and the others made room for him like he was some kinda twisted royalty. His presence was magnetic—not in a good way, but in the kind of way that made you forget to breathe. 😵💫
He crouched in front of you, eye-level now, and you were forced to look into his eyes. The soft scent of his cologne wrapped around you—dark, expensive, suffocating. "Y/N... right?" he asked, voice quieter now. "Surgeon. Moved here last year. Top of your class. No family here. No boyfriend."
Your stomach turned. How the hell did he know all that?
He smirked like he heard your thoughts. "We do our research. And now you're going to help us."
You blinked. "H-help you? With what?"
He stood up, slow and smooth. "A body. One of ours. You're gonna patch him up."
"What if I refuse?" you whispered, knowing full well the answer.
Felix, silent 'til now, finally spoke from the shadows. "Then we let Hyunjin have his fun. And believe me," he said with a low, gravelly voice and a soft smirk, "he's very creative."
You gasped, and your whole body stiffened. "I—I'm a doctor. I help people. Not criminals."
That made Chan pause. The whole room seemed to still.
He turned around, slowly, like a villain at the end of a movie. "You think we're criminals?"
You didn't answer. But the silence was louder than anything you could've said. 💣
Bang Chan leaned down again, his voice like silk-wrapped steel. "You're right. We are. But you're one of us now, sweetheart."
Bang Chan's words echoed like gunshots inside your skull.
"You're one of us now, sweetheart."
No. No no no no. This wasn't happening. You were a surgeon, not some underground gang's personal medic. You didn't save lives just so you could be forced to save people who took them.
But before you could open your mouth to protest, a groan came from somewhere deeper in the warehouse.
"Shit—he's getting worse," Han muttered, his voice laced with actual panic.
Changbin was already moving, strong arms lifting a tattered curtain that separated the space. And there he was—a guy slumped on a bloody mattress, his skin pale, breathing ragged, sweat pouring off his forehead like rain.
"Y/N," Bang Chan snapped his fingers at you. "He's dying. Either you save him, or we let Hyunjin carve you into little puzzle pieces."
You hesitated.
And then... you did what you were trained to do. You looked past the fear, past the blood, past the threat of death and dismemberment—and let your doctor instincts kick in. 🧠🩺
"I need gloves. Sterile tools. Saline. IV fluids. Sutures. Painkillers. Antibiotics. Everything," you said, voice suddenly steady, even if your hands still shook. "Or I can't do a damn thing."
The boys looked at each other—surprised, maybe even a little impressed.
Chan tilted his head, smirk twitching at the corner of his lips. "Now that's more like it."
💉⚡
Twenty minutes later, you were crouched over the injured member—Jeongin—your hands slick with blood, your makeshift OR lit only by an overhead bulb that flickered like it had beef with you personally.
"Bullet went clean through," you murmured, focusing hard. "Missed major arteries. But there's a lot of internal bleeding."
"Can you save him?" Chan's voice was right behind you.
"I have to," you muttered, not even looking back.
Bang Chan didn't say anything else. But you felt his gaze on you the entire time. Like he was watching not just what you did, but who you were. 👀
Hyunjin sat cross-legged nearby, twirling his knife like a fidget toy. "Y'know, if she messes up, I can just finish the job. Easier."
"Shut up, Hyunjin," Seungmin hissed.
"Don't listen to them," a quiet voice said from your right—Felix. He was kneeling beside you, holding the light steady. "You're doing good, yeah?"
You looked at him for a second—just one—and saw something different in his eyes. Kindness. Warmth. A flicker of humanity in this whole horror show. 🥺
"Thanks," you whispered.
🌪️Time blurred. Every second felt like an hour. But finally, you tied the last suture and stepped back, wiping sweat from your forehead.
"He's stable... for now."
Everyone exhaled at once—relief, disbelief, whatever it was. You'd just saved their youngest.
Chan walked over to you, slow, deliberate. "You've earned yourself another day."
"...Another day?" you asked, suddenly realizing how dry your throat still was. "So what, I'm a prisoner now?"
He nodded. "Until we figure out what to do with you."
And then he did something unexpected.
He leaned in close. Too close. His lips brushed your ear as he whispered,
"You're smart, Y/N. Dangerous smart. That's why I can't let you go."
Your breath hitched.
Was that a compliment or a threat?
Suddenly, the door burst open—Seungmin rushed in, phone in hand, his usually composed face twisted in concern.
"They know," he said, panting. "Police are onto us. And someone's been feeding them info."
Bang Chan's smile vanished like smoke. "A rat?"
Han's eyes widened. "Wait—what if it's her?!"
All eyes turned to you.
Your heart dropped.
"I didn't—! I don't even have a phone anymore! You took everything from me!"
But no one was listening.
Hyunjin already had his knife out again, moving closer.
Chan raised a hand. "Stop."
Dead silence.
He turned to look at you again, eyes burning like cold fire.
"If you're lying to me, Y/N... I will find out."
And just like that, your second night in the warehouse turned from bad to worse.
The silence was suffocating.
After the accusations, after the threat, after the knife was pulled again—Bang Chan had everyone clear out. You were left alone, tied to that same damn chair, sweat clinging to your skin, blood on your hands (not yours, thankfully), heart still racing like it wanted to break out of your chest and run.
You heard footsteps. One pair. Heavy. Controlled.
Bang Chan.
He re-entered the room alone, slowly, as if measuring your every breath. The flickering light cast shadows across his jaw, making the sharp lines of his face look even more severe.
He didn't speak at first.
Just circled you.
Like a lion.
"I don't like being lied to," he finally said, his voice low and quiet. "I built an empire on truth... and fear."
You stayed still, not because you were calm—but because you didn't dare move.
"I didn't lie," you said, voice hoarse. "I don't even know what the hell you're involved in."
He stopped behind you. "That's the problem."
Suddenly, you felt it—his fingers, lightly brushing your jaw, tilting your face up.
His touch was gentle.
Too gentle.
It made your skin burn hotter than Hyunjin's blade ever had. 😵💫🔥
He moved in front of you, crouching again—eye-level like before, but this time, something in his expression was different.
"Do you want to die, Y/N?" he asked softly.
Your eyes locked.
"No."
His gaze darkened. "Then stop acting like you don't understand the game you've just been dragged into."
You swallowed, the tension so thick it was almost a physical weight pressing down on your chest. "You don't have to do this. I could help you. I—I don't know what's going on, but this doesn't have to be war."
His smirk was slight... almost sad. "It's always war. You just didn't know you were on the battlefield."
🌪️ The energy between you shifted. Something invisible... pulled tight like a string. His hand was still on your jaw, but now his thumb brushed your cheek, just barely. You could smell him again—cologne and danger.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" you whispered.
He blinked once. "Because you're not afraid of me. And that's either brave... or incredibly stupid."
"I am afraid of you," you whispered back.
He leaned in, his face inches from yours.
"But not enough," he murmured.
Your breath caught in your throat.
Something unspoken danced in the space between you—threat or desire, you couldn't tell anymore. Was he going to kill you... or kiss you?
And then—
The door slammed open. 💥
Han burst in, panting. "We've got a problem. Jeongin's crashing."
Bang Chan stood up instantly, the spell between you shattered like glass.
He didn't even look back at you as he said, "Cut her loose. She's gonna save him again."
"But—"
"Do it."
Later that night...
You were curled in a cot now, not a chair. Small win. Still trapped, still watched like a hawk, but at least not tied up like a hostage in a Netflix thriller. 🕷️
Felix had brought you some water and actual food. He was kind. Seungmin, too—quiet, skeptical, but not cruel. Hyunjin still looked at you like a shiny new toy he wasn't allowed to play with. And Bang Chan?
He hadn't spoken to you since earlier.
But you felt him.
Always watching. Always calculating.
You lay back, staring at the cracked ceiling, exhaustion crawling through your bones.
But just as your eyes started to close, you heard a soft voice beside you.
"Couldn't sleep?"
You sat up, startled.
It was him.
Bang Chan.
Black hoodie, dark jeans, hair pushed back. No threat. No orders. Just... him.
"What do you want?" you whispered.
He leaned against the wall, arms crossed. "To talk."
"To interrogate?"
He smirked. "No. Just... talk."
You blinked. "Why?"
He shrugged, eyes serious now. "Because I can't stop thinking about you."
Time stopped. 🫢
"What?"
"You walked into a nightmare, and instead of breaking... you saved a life. And then stood up to me." His voice dropped. "Do you have any idea how rare that is?"
You shook your head slowly. "Why does that matter?"
He looked at you like he was seeing through your soul.
"Because I've broken people for less. But I can't break you. And that scares me."
Your heartbeat skipped. This time... not from fear.
Bang Chan stepped closer, and this time, when he touched your face, you didn't flinch.
"You're not leaving this world anymore, Y/N," he whispered. "Not because I won't let you... but because you won't want to."
You didn't breathe.
His lips hovered near yours.
So close.
Too close.
You wanted to pull away... You should've pulled away...
But you didn't.
Not yet.
