An Old Friend

03:39, 13 May 2015

Michael finished his story eerily and you stared at him, your heart pounding. "I knew I was making a mistake when I was doing it, but I couldn't stop. Ashton was using me for his own purposes." He explained while looking at his pale hands."I'm sorry. I know you're probably really freaked out right now. And I completely understand." He admitted, moving away from you. Everything was swirling around in your mind. The thought of Michael being ravenous was truly terrifying. You couldn't think about him that way. He was kind and heartfelt. "Michael. That was a long time ago. I know you've changed. Just look at your wings. It's proof. It's horrible, the way you became a dark angel, but you're making up for it. It doesn't excuse you from murder....but Ashton was messing with you. He got in your head and made you believe you weren't doing anything wrong." You acknowledged and placed a hand on his arm. His hand subconsciously reached for yours and held it tight.

"I'm so sorry that I didn't tell you. It's something that's been eating away at me." He took the time to touch your hand as much as possible, stroking your fingers and wrist. "I hope you don't think awful of me. I already think awful about myself enough." He whispered softly, tracing his finger over your palm. Your heart went out to him. "Michael. I don't think awful about you. I care about you. A lot. And I know that you feel bad. You know what you did wrong. You're never going to do that again. Right?" You questioned and he nodded, his eyes looking right into yours."Ok good. Now we have some fighting to take care of."

Ashton

Luna's hands ran over my back and wings while I lifted myself up to the metal bar for the thirtyth time. "You're already so strong. Why must you keep doing this?" She whispered, moving her hands to my bare chest. I let go of the bar and dropped down to her level. "To ensure that I win naïve one." I spoke and watched her tremble when I brushed my fingertips over her skin. "But it seems you are right. I should be stopping. The time has come for our next attack. But this one will have more fatalities." I said with a smirk. Luna's eyes glowed magenta and a smile spread on her lips. "Just tell me what to do Ashton. I'll do it."

Luke

I was still a bit rusty with weapons, but I was getting a hang of it. The double edged sword sliced through the air as I spun it in my careful hands. I moved my feet with the rhythm of the sword, stepping out and to the side. I also focused on my breathing and senses, relying on my ears and eyes. I almost performed a jab perfectly when a male scream broke my focus. The sword dropped from my hands, landing tip down in the floor, close to my foot. I took a deep breath and yanked it out of the now cracked stone. I looped it through my belt and dashed out the door.

I came upon the bloody body of Dimitri. His shoulders and chest were slashed to pieces, blood and flesh combined to create a horrific scene. I grimaced at the sight of his eyes torn out. It looked more like an animal attack compared to a controlling dark angel. I knelt beside him and crossed his arms over his mangled chest. "Fethe Ar Ezodi Dimitri. I'll see you in De Vaoan."

After I rid myself of the blood on my hands, I felt it was best to find the others. The halls of the castle were getting darker, the magic disappearing before my eyes. Now it was a torturous building. Like I couldn't escape. "How did he look when you took his life?" Ashton's voice made me freeze in place.

"His eyes were full of fear so I ripped them out. But his struggle was most pleasing. I'm looking forward to more Ashton." A female voice answered. She sounded more than proud of herself. "Excellent. Now I'll draw Michael and his 'deciples' to the field while you and the boy come in from behind."

I had to warn them.

Y/N

Michael was showing you how to use the sai swords when Luke burst into the room. "We have a problem." He breathed out.

After he explained Ashton's intentions, Michael clenched his jaw and cracked his knuckles. "We will go to the field. But now we know his plan of attack. We'll be ready. Did he say anything about when he's planning on luring us there?" Michael sounded like a real leader, his eyes turning black.Suddenly, the castle shook and a red light came in through the windows. Ashton's voice boomed through the air, making you jump.

"All angels report to Teloch field. If you fail to show, don't worry. My followers will find you. So I suggest you report." He cackled and the wall to your left crumbled. Michael's arms went around you as he spread his wings to shield you from the debris. Luke's wings folded over you as well while the wall exploded into pieces."We need to get out of here!" Michael barked and pulled you into his chest. Luke looked around the room, using his hand to keep debris from hitting his face. "The only way out is through the castle." He observed. "Angels are already flying towards Ashton. If we don't follow, we don't know what he has planned for those that don't show up."

Michael hurriedly shoved you into Luke's grasp and spread his wings. "I'll buy you time. Get to the field. I'll meet you there." He commanded and took off into the air and down the hall. Your heart felt like it was going to jump out of your chest when Luke's hands pressed against you. "Y/N you need to breathe. I won't let anything happen to you aziazor. Hold on to me tight." You did as you were told and held on to his broad shoulders, his hands pushing you to his body as he lifted into the air.

When Luke found a way out of the castle, he flew faster than a bullet towards Teloch field. You hid your face in his chest while he flew at incredible speeds. The air turned from fresh to old and musty, smelling like death and decay. The field came into view, along with hundreds of dark angels. Some were holding weapons and some were confused beyond belief.

Luke's feet touched the ground softly and he set you down. "I'm not letting you be alone. Stay near me. Got that Y/N?" He said strictly and you agreed, holding on to his arm. Alessa and Kyanna found their way to both of you, their eyes full of fear."Where's Michael?" Kyanna asked, a bit of edge to her voice. The sound of wings flapping came from behind you and his voice made you relax. "I'm here. Everyone stick together. This is not going to be a friendly meeting."

Ashton appeared at the front of the crowd, right in front of you. His massive wings folded against his back and his red eyes mulled you over. "It's a shame you had to be dragged into this mess." He said sinisterly just as a female angel flew down to his side. Her wings were a mixture of blue, magenta, and purple. Her hair was jet black and her arms were adorned with tattoos. "Everyone that's important is here. Well except for a snot nosed little brat named Hallie." She announced while a whimper came from Kyanna's mouth. The female angel smirked and ran her hand through her long hair."That's right. Hallie was your roommate wasn't she? Ah well. Obedience is more important than rebellion." She sneered. Kyanna's eyes flashed pale blue.

"I forgot. How foolish of me. This is the lovely, yet deadly Luna." Ashton introduced and she laughed breathily."Oh Ashton. I love when you speak my name." She spoke seductively. Ashton's arm went around her waist and a smirk appeared on his lips.

"Y/N I also believe you know my other colleague." Ashton teased and another set of wings flapped from behind you. You spun around and gasped in shock and horror. His wings were a darker green and his eyes glowed a eerie green. The creepy smile on his face grew when his eyes met yours.

"It's great to see you again Y/N. Miss me?"

His name came out as a whisper. Skylar.

Old friends reunite on this, the last night. Weapons drawn and what arrives as dawn shines over the field. Light and dark finally collide in the battle for their lives. Ashton leads dark while Michael leads light. Lives on both sides will most definitely be lost. But at what cost? Freedom? Or entrapment? Eyes will lose their light and hearts will lose their fight. On this, the last of nights.
