Prologue
14:52, 25 May 2025Joshua pov.
6:00 ( alarm goes on )
It's 6 o'clock in the morning. My work starts at 7:30 so I have roughly 1 hour to get ready. This includes taking a bath, getting dressed and having a nutritional breakfast. I grabbed my phone and turned on my timer. 1 hour starts now..
"Alarm set.. check" I whispered to myself. I'm not a freak, I just care about my time and people's time as well. I don't want to be late and risk my perfect attendance.
Exactly 56 minutes later...
"Hannie we have 4 minutes left. If you don't finish your breakfast I can't guarantee to bring you to school with me." I said as I sat in the living room.
"You know what twin bro.. you're so chatty when you worry about your so called schedule." He mocked me by putting air quotes in the air as he finished his last bite, thank god. And we're not actually twins. People just tell us we look alike most of the time and called us twins. In fact, he's older than I am.
"Aren't you a teacher? You're supposed to care about schedules." I told him.
"Being a teacher, I only care about my students schedules not mine." He said nonchalantly.
"If you don't wanna be left to walk, I suggest you hurry." I said firmly. I know he knows I meant it. I could hear him running.
( 7:00 am) Then alarm goes off again...
"Alright, you had your chance." I said and walked out the room and went out the house to go get into the car.
"Come on broooo! Cheol's gonna be pissed if you leave me again. He won't invite you to their bar again if you leave me. Wait and I'll just grab my bag." He said and I cringed at him. He's always bragging about his boyfriend but not once did I see or meet him. Well maybe because they only started dating a month ago.
"Why can't he take you again?" I asked not remembering what he told me.
"He work night shift duhh okey okey i'm here. So much for being prepared huh? I haven't even put on make up because of you." He said as he climbed up my car. He then opened the mirror and started setting up.
"You don't have make up on?" I asked shocked at his beauty. He's clearly gifted.
"And you do?" He asked rolling his eyes at me.
"Hey! We look alike remember??" I said offended by his question because I did put on a little something when I left my room. He just chuckled.
Then I started driving because even though we were talking already my mind focuses on each second I'm wasting. My brother managed to put on his light make up as I drove to school while he chats most of the time ranting about how he wants to quit working and work with his boyfriend. I just listened all the way to his workplace and smiled from time to time.
"Don't you wanna feel that? The feeling of shouting all your feelings about your job to the boss? Then throwing your resignation to him?" He asked as I passed by the school's gate.
"You always talk about quitting and then you go to work everyday." I said to him and he smirked.
"Well you go to your job as well and you hate it. You always wanted to be a singer right? Why don't you? We both have angelic voices you know. It's in our blood." He bragged. Well he's not wrong. The only thing i'm confident about is my voice anyhow.
"I don't hate my job, it's my boss that I hate. He always makes decisions and doesn't think of consequences to his workers" I corrected him.
"That's because you fix things he does wrong all the time, why don't they promote you. What a dumb company. You should be the ceo. Anyway, this is me. Thank you again twin brotha." He said as he winked at me.
"You're just gross." I said as I closed the door. Then I suddenly heard my phone vibrate. Wow speak of the devil.
"Hello sir?" I said as I saw the lock-screen showed my boss's number.
"Joshua don't be late, you are in-charge of our new hires. I'm confident that you will do a great job. I'll be out in 5." He said and before I could say anything, he hung up.
"Seriously?" I asked myself. He doesn't even give any special instructions and just threw me in the deep waters. I hate that guy.
After exactly 5 minutes, I arrived at my workplace. The Hive. A pretty big company. Hannie was late earlier but I didn't think that the 1 minute difference would make me a little more behind in time than I am. I immediately checked the time and parked properly.
I am definitely gonna be late, I was already walking really fast. Then I saw the elevator, people were trying to fill it up and I felt like I could make it. I felt so happy, I could jump, this was perfect because I'm gonna be so late if I don't take it.
"Please hold the door!" I shouted as I ran in the lobby. I was about the reach the elevator when something hit me and made me fall into the ground.
"Oh shi—" I exclaimed as the other guy fell beside me. Falling was no problem at all. The elevator closing was more of my dilemma right now. I watched as the doors closed in front of me. I reached out my hand for dramatic effect but I was too late.
I Joshua Hong has officially been late for the first time in my life. I looked at the time in my watch. Then looked at the guy the bumped me. More like glared is the right word. He started standing up.
"Ow dude. I'm so sorry I was catching the elevator. I honestly didn't see you. Are you okey?" He said as he tried to reach out his hands and help me up. I said nothing and just glared at him.
"I can get up myself 'bro'" I mocked him.
"Woah.. sorry I was just late for my first day. You know right? Like new hire problems? Hey, you've been there give me a break." He said nonchalantly as he grabbed my bag and gave it to me.
huh? Wait is he one of the candidates? I just look at him silently and judging him.
"Look. I'm sorry. You don't need to be so butthurt. Look the elevator's here." He said and then the elevator door opens. We both went inside. The ride was quiet and awkward. I was looking away from him.
"Hey, your shirt. It looks a little torn in this part. It must have been due to the fall. I'm so sorry." He said and I slapped his hands away and touched the part where he was holding on to. Great another thing to take up my time. This will really mess with my schedule.
"Ugh! This is the worst." I muttered under my breath.
We reached the 5th floor. The elevator doors open.
"Oh what do we have here? Joshua Hong? Late? I'm dreaming! Can anyone please punch me, punch me right now!" Hoshi my workmate had to announce my misfortune to the whole office.
Then all of a sudden Hao, another workmate of mine in charge of Billing punched Hoshi in his arms.
"Ow! I meant that as a joke!" Hoshi complained. I chuckled a little but was interrupted by the person behind me.
"Uhm excuse me, I know I wasted your time and all but I just wanna ask, where do we go for the work thing? Like I'm sorry but I have no idea what or where do I go?" He suddenly asked and I glared at him.
"Ohh boy.. you're one of the new hires?" Hoshi threatened this annoying guy behind me. Hao just walked towards me and whispered.
"What happened to your face? And your shirt dude you look disgusting." He commented.
"I know. It's because of that cheeky guy Hoshi is talking to. God I hate that kid." I said and Hao just laughed.
"Joshua hong getting frantic? Not dressed properly and late? Ohh something's cooking alright." Hao said and I rolled my eyes. Despite the way we talk to each other these guys are actually under my department.
"Hey Joshua he's going to be one of us. His training starts today." Hoshi suddenly said.
"What? Doesn't he have to get interviewed first?" I asked confused. We all looked at him as Hoshi put his arms on his shoulders.
"Well he told me that he already got interviewed by the boss and he starts today. And since you're the senior here, you're probably gonna train him right?" Hoshi said to me.
"I guess I'll be in your care huh?" He smiled and looked at me. What the hell? He just gets in just like that? He smiled at me like a puppy and I took a deep breath to calm myself. Don't punch him, you'll get fired. I mean not a bad outcome but...
"I guess we need to be formally introduced then. I'm Joshua Hong. I preferred to be called Sir." I said acting professional like I always do.
"Nice to meet you sir. I'm Dk. And I also preferred to be called Dk sir." He said and Hoshi laughed behind me catching the mocking tone of this new guy. Great attitude from the start huh *note the sarcasm.
"Are you mocking me?" I asked him seriously.
"Oh... new guy's in trouble." Hoshi whispered to Hao and me.
"No sir, I'm sorry. I was just—-" he was about to reason out when I cut him off.
"Alright alright. Stop embarrassing yourself and listen. From now on, you are to our trainee. You are under all of us in the chain of command so please stop acting like a kid and doing everything you like because this is the real world kid. Act professional. And you are in it. Now go to Hao for your orientation." I said. And Hao looked at me.
"I'm gonna be a while. You're in charge." I said to him and he raised his hand in surrender and followed my order. Hoshi then went with me to the office. He just stayed silent and took a sit on the couch.
"I know, I know I'm being strict again. But look at me, I'm a mess" I reasoned out while getting my extra pair of suit in my bag and getting ready again.
"You hate the new guy already. You are so obvious" he said.
"No I do not." I said.
"Liar." Hoshi commented and walked out the room. I could see Hao talking to thag Dk guy as he smiles and nods.
"Shut up." I snapped.
"Are you mad? Joshua are you super madd???" Hoshi annoyingly said to me while wrapping his arms around me preventing me from moving and changing my suit completely.
"Dude you're too clingy. " I said as I tried pushed his face away from me. He's really childish sometimes but it's part of his charm. I don't really mind.
Then suddenly the door opened with Dk guy opening it . Hoshi and I looked at him. The hell? Good thing I was dressed at this point. But Hoshi was still hugging me. I just pushed him back even harder in shock. We then pretended to look professional.
"You're supposed to knock before you do that.. well no point now because you already did." Hao said as he tried to stop Dk from opening the door.
"Oh my bad... sorry sirs. Please carry on." He said, smiled too and we just look at him. He's too cherry and really weird.
But before he could completely close the door, he opened in once again and he seemed to have something to say.
"What?." I asked in annoyance. I looked at Hao and he just raised his shoulders. He has no idea why the new guy keeps opening the door back.
"Uhm... I just.. i wante—-" he stuttered.
"Get on with it dude." Hoshi said.
"What?" I asked him confused why he opened the door back. What could he possibly need.
"I just wanted to say, I support you guys both no judgement here. Just shocked that this office was pretty modernized in terms of sexuality. I too have a lot of gay friends. I don't really mind at all. Sorry to interrupt." He said and smiled as he closed the door. Even gave us finger hearts.
"Did that just happened?" Hoshi said looking at me and holding his laugh.
Then there was a text on my phone.
'Great going guys he thinks you guys are gay for each other'
- HAO
