Chapter 14: Magic~
06:08, 6 November 2012Chapter 14: Magic
America’s POV:
When I awoke I was seated in the meeting hall, looking over my folded arms to see the room around me. No one was there yet, that or everyone had already gone and left me to my snoring. The room was still bright and the clock seemed to be dead because I couldn’t hear the little ticking noise. I heard shuffling noises from behind me and I knew they were footsteps. I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and sat up as quickly as I could to make it look like I was awake.
I turned around to face the one person I didn’t want to see right now: France. He was doing his annoying French laugh and right then I wanted to rip my ears off. I had heard my bro, Canada, say something about him acting different but he seemed to be the same old person to me. A total douche bag.
“What’s up Frenchy?” I asked casually, trying not to start a fight.
“You look worn out, mon ami.” he taunted.
“Gee, what gave you that impression?” I asked, sarcastically.
To my aid, came the rest of the countries. Thank heavens! I stood up from my seat, ready to take charge. If no one was going to present an idea, why should I be stopped?
“Ok dudes! This is the time we gotta speak up. We need to stand next to each other and help each other out. So I encourage all of you, no matter the scars between you, to help make this world a better place!” I preached.
For the first time in a long time I wasn’t being laughed at. Everyone seemed to take my words to heart and as I looked around many people started to clap and everyone was smiling at each other. I still had my touch.
“He’s right.” came a simple statement from across the table.
I looked over to that unmistakable voice. Britain would always be by my side and now was no different. Some things never would change. I smiled at him and everyone else seemed to nod. That day I would be the leader everyone wanted.
If this was the only time that were to happen I would still be grateful. I would take that above all else. I had to do something to help them out for as long as I could. Being positive was one of my strong suits.
At the end of the meeting I was greeted with many pats on the back and truly happy people. We had finally gotten something accomplished. The happiness inside me was stronger than it had ever been at the previous meetings. Although, something within me left a big hole.
I just ignored it, filling it with the happiness of the moment and hope. I still held onto that hope that somehow I could stay the way I used to be. That maybe if I prove myself I can overcome this. There was still a chance.
All I wanted was to live here. This was my home and I didn’t want to give it up. I wasn’t going to give it up. I had fought so long to acquire it and protect it and it wasn’t for naught.
I smiled as I had used one of those British-like words I had heard him say one of those times. He said so many of them without even thinking. I suppose I was the same though, just in my own way of speaking. We were all different.
Guess I still couldn’t stop thinking about him. I sighed a little as I waved goodbye to the rest of them. This would definitely be one for my diary. A diary that I still kept, hidden away in that drawer.
I kicked the rocks underneath my foot, counting the number of them I felt tap against my foot. I got to thirty six when I remembered to check my skin. My face seemed to be find but my arms were almost gone now. It had been about six months since all this started happening. I would have about another year or so before it would take away most of my body.
“America!” I heard someone yell.
I turned back to see pale skin running after me. He seemed a little sickly again today. I kept wondering why and maybe it was just because he just overworked himself. I gave him a smile and a pat on the head.
“Slow down there.” I chuckled.
He responded with that grumpy look on his face. Remember, the most adorable face ever! I just laughed more and took my hand back. He seemed to be normal. Thankfully.
“You seem to be in high spirits, considering the stakes.” he replied.
“No point in crying about it. I’ll do what I can. That’s all I can do.” I explained.
I seemed to say something that touched him deeply. He smiled one of those deep, genuine smiles. I just turned my gaze and rubbed the back of my neck. That nervous thing I always did when I was embarrassed.
“Such a stubborn kid. You never change.” he kept smiling.
We were both walking side by side and I could tell the cold was getting to him because he was shaking. I took off my jacket, placing it delicately over his shoulders. He nodded, a slight blush on his face. He stopped for a moment, staring deep into my blue eyes.
“And I don’t ever want you to change.” he finally said after a few moments.
I was astonished by his sudden change in words. He had made one statement into a sentence that made my heart pound wildly. I let the wind flow through my hair and it made him seem all the more angelic. What did he want me to do?
While I was hesitant, he wasn’t. He leaned over and planted a kiss onto my cheek. My face flushed in response and made a smile flash across my face. He released himself from me, causing a bunch of awkward emotions to flow through me.
“You won’t ever have to worry about that. I’ll always be the same old me,” I answered, “You don’t change either.”
“You got it.” he nodded.
I sent him a wave and continued on my way. He had a plane to catch and so did I. We were both so far from home. Then again I wasn’t really sure where home was. Was home just a place? Or was it the people living in it that made it a home?
“I want to go home with you!” he yelled up to me.
I turned to face him, my face shocked. I stared into those deep green eyes of desperation. It seemed as though a whole forest of trees stood around us and the leaves never stopped floating through out vision. Leaves of red and orange. The time for fall.
Fall meant, the school year would soon start. I had to report for my term at Gakuen Academy, as did he. I had a feeling this would cause unnecessary problems throughout the school year, knowing how much we tend to argue. Although, that was everything my heart wanted. I was the happiest when he was by my side.
“Well come on then, slowpoke!” I yelled back, continuing to walk.
He ran up to me, panting. He was walking very slowly now. He must really be sick and he seemed to only get worse. When I went to ask him, he had already spoken.
“If I’m going to be living under the same roof as you I have to spill all my secrets. I don’t want to hide anything from you.”
“Then spill it.”
“Those men that wrecked your city. They weren’t after me just because I stole something.”
I never even thought about it up until he just brought it up. I guess it never really mattered to me my they were after him. All I knew was that I had to protect him. Nothing else mattered at the moment.
This mattered now. He wanted to know everything there was to know about Britain. He wanted to know all his secrets, all his fears, everything. That Britain offered this too him willingly was something he didn’t expect. He would take it, nonetheless.
“They were after a source of magic, the source of my magic.” he concluded.
((Since they are together again I'm going to go back to America's POV all the time. Sorry if the time apart semed too short for you! I just hate seeing them apart! Thing's are sure to get more interesting so stick around and found out what happens in Chapter 15! ^^))
