Chapter 6: Taken
21:33, 9 September 2012Chapter 6- Taken
As soon as I stepped out of the car I was confronted with loud yells and the sound of loud laughing. Out of the shadows stepped a few men who had sneers of madness on their faces. They were here for only one purpose. Only one thing could’ve led them here. They hatred they held for me.
“Look it’s poor little Alfred. Where’s your daddy huh?” They laughed.
“What do you want?” I asked.
I closed the door behind me and gestured for the Englishman to wait inside the car. He didn’t need to get into this. He had already hurt enough. I couldn’t have him dying on me. Especially because it would be because of me.
“We simply want you to turn over England. He’s taken something from us and we want it back.” they continued.
“You guys really think I’m gonna turn him over just like that? You’re more stupid than I thought.” I smiled as my comment took effect on them.
They frowned with anger at my comments. These type of people were only trouble and hated to be made fun of. They were punks who only wanted something to steal or someone to kill. Just anything to satisfy their thirst to sin.
“Shut up America! You don’t have power here anymore. The people have chosen themselves over you. You don’t get to make the calls!” They yelled back.
My heart sunk for a moment. They spoke the truth this time. They were absolutely right that no one really wanted me around anymore but that wasn’t going to stop me from still helping them out. I had to make it up to them for being a failure to them.
“They may not need me anymore but you still live under my flag and as long as I’m here I’m not going to allow you to do that! There’s no way you’re getting him!” I spat in their faces.
“As you wish.” a voice said from behind me.
I felt a small thud on the back of my head as my vision began to fade. I had enough strength to turn around and look at the green jacket. What was he doing? I told him to stay inside.
“What are you?”
“I’m sorry America. I can’t allow them to hurt you.” he said.
I realized the thud came from him as he hit me again with his fist. Before I could even stutter another sentence my vision faded into the world of black. I collided with the ground and the scent of dirt filled my nostrils. Those were the last things I could feel. That and the sound of my heart.
When I awoke I looked at the ground that I had fallen asleep on. The sun was shining brightly and no sight of the evil guys or Britain were to be found. He must’ve left with them to protect me. He always was trying to help me but doesn’t he realize he’s the one that needs to be saved?
“Damn that Brit!” I yelled as I stomped my foot.
I looked around for anything I could use to find them and I seemed to find nothing until I saw a bright shiny gold object on the road. I walked towards it, picking it up in my hands. It was the pin that I had given him. The small, gold pin that looked like a police officer’s badge with a star in the middle. The one lead I had left of him.
The road continued on and connected to a dirt path. As far as I remembered the path continued on in a straight line without any other turns so I was sure to find him that way. I jumped into my car and turned the key as I put it in the little slot. The car roared into motion as I pushed on the gas pedal until the speed I reached was the highest it could be.
I almost seemed to fly down the road as the dirt made dust clouds all around me and especially behind me. I just kept driving, hoping to find a sign of him. When I came to the end of the path I realized I had hit a dead end. They had to be around here somewhere.
I saw nothing but forest for miles in my vision and I found no trace of footsteps. If it wasn’t for that pin I wouldn’t have found this road so other than that it was a perfect place to hide. I looked around and pulled out a small hunter’s knife I had in my pocket. I used it to mark the trees with a small star so I’d know where I have been and wouldn’t get lost.
I kept searching for what seemed like forever but in reality it was only about a half an hour. When that number reached an hour I was really starting to worry. What had happened to him by now? Was he still even here? I kept doubting everything until I heard a yell cry out through the forest.
I quickly rushed toward it with as much speed as I could muster to find him tied up to a tree with rope. They had taken of his jacket and I could see whip marks across his chest and blood was pouring from his chin. They were torturing him!
“That stupid brat bit me!” I heard one of the captors yell.
“We can’t let him get away with that!” Another yelled.
“You should pick on someone your own size!” I yelled, punching one of them in the face.
I kept my eyes on my enemy as they chuckled and brought out small knives. I brought out mine and threw it at the closest one too me. I threw it into his shoulder which made him stagger backward and run into a tree. I scoffed as I held up my fists to face the rest of them.
“Die!” they yelled, charging me.
I swiftly dodged the first one and used the back of my hand to chop him at the side of his neck. He dropped to the ground, unconscious. Now three more remained and they took a step backward but refused to give up. One of them threw their knife, aiming for not me but England.
I heard a thud as it hit something behind me. I turned around to find the knife lodged into the trunk of the tree. It was only inches away from piercing his neck. Luck miss I suppose. I sighed as I felt a sharp pain stab me in the gut.
The man waited till I was distracted to stab me in the side. What a jerk! Then again these were the kinds of people that didn’t play by the rules. I kicked backwards and collided with his leg. He jumped back in pain as I pulled the knife out of my stomach.
As the blood dripped down the blade I threw it and lodged it into one of the two remaining enemy’s feet. He dropped to the ground and just in a matter of minutes only one of them remained. Being the only one left he fled in terror and the victory belonged to me.
I picked up my knife out of one of their bodies and took the rest of the knives as trinkets. They weren’t going to fight me with those injuries. Now the Snakehead Gang had no reason to mess with me. I put away two of the knives in my chest pocket and the other I used to cut Britain out of the ropes.
I could tell he was hiding the pain from me as he smiled brightly. I grabbed his body and carried him all the way to the car the way the hero always picked up the victims he was saving. I slowly placed him into the back seat and strapped him in. I drove all the way home, not getting a word out of the Brit.
When we arrived he refused my help and stumbled his way into the house. He sat down on my bed and I examined his wounds. I got out a rag and dipped it in peroxide. I slowly rubbed it over his wounds and I could hear him wince at the pain. I allowed him to hold my hand the way a mother always does when you’re given a shot and he held it tightly.
When I was done with his back he turned around to the front and I examined his chest. I slowly put the rag on it and he didn’t seem to wince as bad this time but he still gripped pretty tightly to my hand. I was starting to think my fingers were going to break before I finished. My hand stopped as I placed my hand over his heart. It seemed to beat wildly but I could tell he was about ready to pass out.
“You know you really should calm down a little. You need your rest.” I smiled as I released my hand.
“What are you implying?” he asked, angrily in defense.
“Nothing. Just that your heart is beating a little fast, that’s all. Allot of people have heart problems so I’m just trying to warn you about it.”
“You really are dense. You know that America?”
“Yea, you’ve said it before.”
An awkward silence stretched between us as I rang out the rag and picked up the bottle of peroxide. I left the room and placed them back into the bathroom where the medicine cabinet was. I came back into the room and found the Brit laying down and staring at the ceiling. He seemed to be in deep thought about something.
“America?”
“Yea, what’s up?”
“Thank you.”
“No problem.”
I turned off the lights and watched as his eyes closed shut. I closed the door behind me and looked down to see the trail of blood below me. I didn’t even feel the pain yet. All I knew was that if I didn’t get this patched up I would be in a bad state.
I instantly picked up the phone and had the doctor come over. I didn’t want the wound to open up anymore than it already had. He soon arrived and patched it up as best as he could. I was ordered to take it easy and rest as much as I could though and other than that nothing serious. It would heal in a few days. Same with Britain’s wounds.
Although what I didn’t know would mend was my heart.~
