Four
17:00, 14 June 2025"Oh my god, guess what?!" Naomi threw herself down on the seat next to Piper.
Piper gasped as she turned around, widening her eyes before she settled a little.
"Is it worth the dramatics?" Piper asked, a small smile appearing on her face.
"Big time! You're never going to guess our plans this weekend." Naomi flung her legs over the seat to rest them under the table. She sat properly, clasping her hands together.
Piper stared at her for a moment before she frowned. "I'm a little hesitant to know now, what have you done?"
"Oh! Y'know me, and my persuasive skills. After a long ass time of pleading and practically a little shimmer of manipulation - I got us party invites." Naomi grinned as she rubbed her forefinger and thumb together.
Piper sighed as she glanced around the lunch room.
"There's a party happening? I don't like going to - "
" - No, not here! It's a college party!" Naomi began to giggle.
"Who's going to college parties here?" Piper scoffed.
"Tut." Naomi's face fell serious for a moment. "Our only college officiate is my darling brother of course."
Piper's frown deepened.
"Yoongi got us invites? That doesn't...sound like Yoongi." Piper admitted, as little skeptical. "Ain't no way he - "
" - Hey, don't underestimate my skills. I do not give up, when I want something. It's going to be on Friday night, just out of town but we're going to have a great time." Naomi's eyes lit up with a grin accompanying them.
Piper's eyes fell from her friends as she scanned over the table in front of her. Her thoughts were scrambled a little together as she tried to separate confusion and hesitation.
"I don't know about this Naomi..." Piper quietly spoke up.
"Do not worry about it! We're going to be together, and of course Yoongi will be there...hanging around in the background - but we'll try and keep our distance from the informal babysitter."
Piper flashed a fake smile.
She didn't want to go to a college party, she didn't want to go to one with Yoongi. The start of her weekend was beginning to sound like her idea of hell. College party goers would be even more crazy than high schoolers and she wasn't ready for that. She wasn't ready to be in that situation with Yoongi either. Would he be like one of them now? Surely, he would want to fit in with his new friends.
He was introverted, but if there was an invitation out there then he must have a group of friends. With girls too?
Shaking her head, Piper sighed.
"I don't feel comfortable going - " She began.
"I'm going to be there with you. Y'know who too..." Naomi rolled her eyes with a smile.
The fact Yoongi was going was making her more uncomfortable.
"...I'm sure he'll be around..." Naomi waved her hand a little. "It'll just be us, mingling around a little. We can suss out the situation and just have a little fun. After then, we're back to our high school selves, and we'll probably never see anyone again." She shrugged.
Piper thought for a moment before a tiny smile emerged on her lips.
"Do you think Seokjin will be there?"
Naomi frowned a little as she thought.
"I don't think so, he moved to a new province and college."
"Oh." Piper's hopeful smile fell once more. "I miss him, he was really funny."
"Yeah, he was a sweetheart. Can't say the same for his friend." Naomi mocked, referring to her brother.
Piper scoffed a little as she shook her head.
"Yoongi is sweet." She murmured under her breath.
She was caught off guard at Naomi hearing that.
"You have to say that, because he isn't your brother" She smiled.
Piper frowned. "Cut him some slack, he's taking you to a party. That's new for him."
Naomi stared at Piper with a small smile on her face, before she narrowed her eyes a little. As Piper turned away, Naomi continued to discreetly stare at her friend.
"You're always first to back him up, did you know that?" She quietly asked.
Piper's eyes widened a little. "I back the both of you up. When I need too!"
"Mhm." Naomi smirked as she nodded. "He does the same."
"What do you mean?" Piper frowned.
Naomi shrugged as she turned away. "Guess you're just close after the years...but he talks about you a lot."
Piper's frowned turned almost into a slightly horrified surprise. She tried her best to examine Naomi's expression without looking too suspicious. She was surprised though, to see her slightly calm with a smirk on her face.
"He...probably knows I hate parties. You both know I'm quiet." Piper nodded.
"Hm. I know, but I want to try and get you more comfortable with experiencing these things." Naomi began to pick at her nails.
"...and I don't mean about the party. Yes, he tried to plead your defence but he's always talked about you."
Piper tried to swallow but her mouth was getting drier.
The girls sat in silence before Naomi sighed.
"Anyway!" She changed topic as relief slightly washed over Piper.
