Valentines

22:23, 27 April 2023

Both girls, never being a big fan of Valentine's Day, were now happily decorating the castle with Derek. Since it wasn't an official holiday all the kids still had their classes, so that meant Hermione and Derek too. So, the three of them decided to decorate the south side of the castle while the other professors were scattered around the rest. It was still very early, Leah had slipped out of bed carefully, trying not wake up Fred who held a tight grip on her. Which wasn't an easy task, she had to scoot over inch by inch, taking almost fifteen minutes before she got out of bed without him waking up. She had placed a special daydream charm on her pillow for him before she quickly changed and floo'd over to the castle with Hermione. Ever since Christmas, Hermione was spending more and more of her time sleeping over at her house, but she didn't mind. She loved Hermione there, she loved seeing George being a love-sick puppy and loved that Fred and Hermione were getting along better by the day.

But now she was waving her wand as she walked through the corridor, while Hermione and Derek jumped in every classroom they passed. Red streamers of hearts and little cupids were flying in the air, shooting arrows in the air. A bunch of large red balloons grazed the door frame of the great hall. The great hall itself was already fully decorated thanks to the expertise of one Minerva McGonagall. When Hermione and Derek stepped up next to her, their eyes went wide as they scanned the room.

"Wow." They sighed on either side of her.

"Minerva really went for it." Leah's smile grew as she saw the headmistress on the other side of the room. "Minerva." Leah started when they reached her. "I didn't know you were such a big fan of Valentine's."

"I'm not. But the kids love it." She shrugged as she finished the last streamer and sat down on her chair. "Sit, the elves even made special treats today." At that moment, all different kind of cupcakes and cookies in a heart appeared on the teacher's table.

"Can't say no to that, can we ladies?" Derek grinned ad gestured for them to sit first.

Minerva was telling them what kind of declarations she saw over the years at Hogwarts, from the most sweet and genuine, to the most cringe worthy. The other teachers started to come in first before the students appeared in the great hall. All talking and looking around the great hall in amazement. Leah wondered if they would see some declarations during breakfast and her eyes scanned the crowd, not only in anticipation but also it the possible heartbreak that may come.

She was so busy on focussing on the kids in front of her, she didn't notice that an owl had delivered an envelope in front of her. She only became aware when the owl nipped her finger.

"Ouch." She stuck her finger in her mouth. "Stella." The owl cocked her head and gave her a small hoot. "Here you go." She gave her a piece of bread as she untied the letter.

Before she had time to open the letter, the letter flew up and opened on itself as Everything I do, I do it for you started to play. But when the first word was sung, it wasn't Bryan Adams voice, it was Fred's. The music, the voice was so loud, the whole great hall looked at Leah, who looked at the letter in shock. Hermione, next to her, looked the same way, before she nudged her and pointed at the entrance of the great hall with a grin. Fred was standing there, in a nice muggle suit, singing his longs out through a microphone. The kids who were all looking at her, all turned to look at the red head who started to walk towards the teachers' table.

"Oh God!" Leah laughed as she put her head in hands, shaking it.

"Well, he certainly has a flair for the dramatics." Derek laughed next to her.

"You don't say." She smiled as she looked to Derek, before she turned to a snickering Hermione. "Don't laugh, Granger. Don't think George won't do anything big." Leah's grin went wide when she saw Hermione pale at the thought. Fred was nearing the table, as he handed out roses to all the young girls while singing, making the girls all blush fiercely.

"Go." Derek nudged her out of her seat. She hit Derek on the head as she passed him and walked to the other side of the table. Fred was almost at the platform and all the eyes in the room flickered between her and Fred. Leah glanced over her shoulder and looked to the headmistress, who was looking at her with a mischievous smile. Oh, the bloody witch knew! She gave her a small glare before she turned to Fred. His voice wasn't that bad, and it looked like he had been practicing it for a while, to not humiliate himself, but he certainly wasn't. And when he looked at her, her heart skipped a beat. Fred slowly walked up the steps and pulled her in her arms, letting the microphone drop, but it didn't fall to the ground, it slowly lowered itself of the ground and Fred's voice still boomed through the room, but was soft next to her as he started slow dancing with her.

"Everything I do, I do it for you."

"You're mental." She smiled and leaned her head against his, closing her eyes.

"For you." She heard the smirk in his voice. They danced until the song and Fred ended, both forgetting they were being watched by hundred sets of eyes. "Happy Valentine's Day, love."

"I love you, you goofball." She said before she pulled him in for a kiss. And that's when they remembered that they were in a full great hall, as the kids started to whistle and holler at the pair. They pulled away quickly, but neither was too embarrassed, and bowed gracefully to the crowd. "The girls seemed to love the flowers." She smiled as she saw the first- and second-year girls holding their flowers and waving them.

"Don't think I forgot about you." He whispered in her ear before he leaned down to pick up the microphone. Before Fred stood straight up in front of her again, the microphone had transfigured into a large and colourful bouquet of flowers. "And thank you for the special daydream charm." He winked.

"I got help." She gave him a lopsided smile as she smelled the flowers.

"I better get going, class is starting soon." He kissed her cheek. "Don't want to get in trouble with Minnie." He waved over to the headmistress. "I have another present tonight, meet me at the shop around seven."

"Alright." She smiled wide.

"Oh, and don't worry, you can't kill these flowers, they're enchanted."

"Thank Merlin, for that." She chuckled. Fred turned to look at the crowd in front of them.

"I want you all to remember, this is how you do Valentine's Day right." He bowed deeply once again and darted out of the room as Leah rolled her eyes.

Hermione got her surprise during lunch. She already got an office full of daisies and tulips when she arrived there after breakfast, so she didn't expect anything more. She was enjoying her lunch with Leah as they talked about how the kids had celebrated the day so far, sending secret love notes and poems around the classes, getting the help from the elves to deliver a flower or chocolates. They were just talking about a sixth year, who had bought the wrong article from the twins' shop, making his whole romantic gesture blow up in his face when George walked in. At first glance it all seemed harmless, but we're talking about a Weasley twin, so it wasn't really possible. Hermione froze next to her, making her the one who was laughing right now. George pulled out his wand and let the signature WWW fireworks explode above their heads. Fireworks in the form of cupids shooting arrows through hearts, making them pop when they went through it. Then like the muggle heart-shaped sugar candies was exploding in the air, revealing: Will you be my Valentine? The whole great hall, including Leah let out a loud AAAWW! George hopped on the platform and handed her a single one of those candies, with the same question.

"Of course, I will George." She gave him a chaste kiss, not wanting to leave him hanging, but also not wanting to make an even more spectacle out of themselves. But it was enough for George, who grinned like a fool. She whispered something in his ear, before he grinned and kissed her again before he darted out the room in the same way his twin did a few hours early.

"Told you." Leah grinned as Hermione sat back down, holding her candy. "We're going to have our hands full with those two."

"Yeah." Hermione chuckled. "Maybe we should take time off next year and go into hiding."

"I like your way of thinking." She winked, before they both started laughing.

"George? What are you doing here?" Leah asked as she stepped out of the floo in the backroom of the shop.

"I own this shop, remember?" He teased. "Hermione told me to meet her here."

"That's weird, Fred told me to meet him here." She said as she kissed his cheek. "You don't know what's going on?"

"No, Fred told me about his plan for Hogwarts, but nothing about tonight."

"Maybe they wanted to switch partners." Leah teased, and they both looked at each other in silence for a moment.

"Nah." They both said. "Must be something else." George snickered.

"Are you asking Hermione tonight?"

"I was planning to, but you're still okay with it?"

"Of course, George. I don't want you to move out, so that's why I suggested it. Besides Hermione's over most of the time, anyway, won't be much of a difference." She smiled, trying to ease his nerves.

"Alright, let's see if we can find some clues around here then." He grinned and started to look around the office. Leah put her bag down and started to look around too. She was going over Fred's desk, when she saw a bright yellow notepad.

"Found it." She called out, waving the notepad in the air. George walked up next to her and started reading the note. "You both must be confused by now, but this was all Fred's plan." She read out loud, imagining Hermione's huff at Fred. "We put some nice clothes up in the flat, when you're dressed, come to the house. Straight to the dining room! DO NOT GO IN THE KITCHEN!" That was definitely Fred's handwriting, Leah and George chuckled at the last sentence.

"We better go see what's up there." George eyed the staircase and offered his arm to Leah. "Ready, milady?"

Leah did a curtsy with a grin and looped her arm with George as they climbed the stairs. George disappeared in his room, while Leah disappeared in Fred's old room. The flat was now mostly being used as storage now. The boys had only slept there a handful of times since the summer when they were working too late. A simple little black dress hung on the closet door. She quickly changed into it and walked outside, just to see George walk out of his room wearing a dark blue blazer with dark jeans.

"You look handsome." Leah smiled and adjusted his collar.

"Me? Look at you, gorgeous." He smiled and twirled her around. "Makes you wonder what those two are wearing."

"Let's find out, shall we? Want to use the floo?"

"Yeah, I want to sneak a peak in the kitchen, and if we apparate in they will now." He grinned. Leah rolled her eyes but did want to take a look at the kitchen too. So, they floo'd over together and walked silently on their toes to the kitchen. Hermione and Fred had put a silencing spell on the kitchen, but when they popped their heads around the corner, they saw them both cooking in the kitchen, or at least trying to cook. It looked like the kitchen had exploded. Leah and George retreated to the dining room, where everything was set up.

After George poured them both some wine and sat down, he called over.

"We're here!"

It was quiet for a moment, before the silencing charm from the kitchen disappeared and they heard Fred curse as he dropped a pot. George and Leah shared a look and snickered before the two disaster cooks came into view.

"Hi, love." He kissed her sweetly. "You look stunning."

"You look..." She grinned as she dusted of some flour from his clothes.

"I know." He chuckled. "Let me go change and I'll come down."

And the two headed up to the stairs to clean up and get changed. When they came back down, Fred wore a blazer like his brother, but in black matching her dress. While Hermione wore a dress the same shade of blue as George's blazer. Fred slides up next to her, while Hermione took a seat next to George.

"So, what now?" Leah asked innocently, as she didn't see the kitchen.

"We made you dinner."

"You two?" George put on his most surprised face, his eyes darting between his twin and is girlfriend.

"Yeah." Fred grinned.

"We've been taking cooking lesson with your mum for a while." Hermione said, a blush appearing on her cheeks.

"You too?" Leah asked now genuinely surprised as she looked at her boyfriend.

"You knew?" George asked, as he pointed at Hermione.

"She mentioned it at Christmas."

"Well, don't get too excited. You first have to survive the night." Fred joked, but she saw that he was nervous. She placed her hand on his, giving it a squeeze.

"I'm sure I'll love it." The smile grew on his face and kissed her quick before he dragged Hermione to the kitchen to get the food.

They survived the night! They tried to make her veggie lasagne; it wasn't a good as hers, but they enjoyed it immensely. After dinner, they went to a winter carnival, each couple going their own way for the night. And it was the best Valentine's Day she had every experienced so far.
