Potion of Truth

11:30, 13 February 2025

Fred and George were nervously tapping their feet as they glanced at the clock, when suddenly a Patronus appeared in front of them. The silver cat opened its mouth and the voice of Minerva McGonagall echoed through the silent flat.

"George, Fred. Can you come to Hogwarts? The floo is open, something happened."

Fred and George never been so quick on their feet as panic coursed through their bodies. When the Patronus disappeared, George looked around the room. "Fred, do you think you can floo with me too?"

Fred bent down and hurriedly wrote down his reply. I don't know, but if I have to, I'll walk there!

" Let's try it before you go on a days walk." George mustered a chuckle before he turned serious and walked to the floo, grabbing floo powder along the way. When he stepped in, he waited until Fred gave him the familiar tug on his hair.

Fred closed his eyes as he concentrated on Leah, trying not to think of what might have happened to her, if she was hurt or worse, just him wanting to be with her. And even before George threw down the floo powder, he was gone.

When he opened his eyes, he was standing in McGonagall's office. He looked around surprised, but he didn't have to look far to find the girl that made his heart beats faster. She was lying in front of him on a transfigured cot in front of Minnie's desk. His heart stopped as he fell to his knees beside her.

"Leah." He whispered.

"Fred?" Minerva said as she suddenly noticed his aura on the other side of the cot. "Where is George?"

Before Fred could do anything to tell her, the floo roared behind him as George ran towards Leah. "What happened?" George asked as he kneeled down next to McGonagall, Fred giving his hair a tug to let him know he was there.

"She took the potion, to see if there is any magic in her, she was supposed to be in a trance like state for a couple of minutes, but her eyes fell shut and I haven't been able to wake her up, Poppy came over to look her over but couldn't do anything."

Fred leaned closer, so his head touched hers, really touch. "Wake up." He said with a trembling voice.

"Is she going to wake up?"

"I honestly don't know." Minerva said honestly with a small voice.

"She has magic in her right? Didn't you read the letters? Magic saved her once before." George said grabbing the letters from the desk behind him, waving them in the air frantically. "It can do it again!"

"Yes, there is magic in her. She is a witch, a very powerful one as what I could see."

"She was in coma before, maybe she just needs to heal, to rest before she can come out of it."

"It's a possibility."

"What do you think happened? You said the potion wouldn't hurt her." George asked as he looked at the unconscious girl, witch.

"If I may, headmistress." A voice from besides them came. George head snapped back, while Fred finally tore his head away from Leah as he looked at the painting.

"Professor Dumbledore?" The twins asked in surprise.

"Mr. Weasleys." The old headmaster smiled. "I strongly believe Miss Derijker will wake up before morning. The surge of magic that we saw course through her body was strong, very strong. And since it's been dormant for decades it will take her a while to get control of it. I believe her body fell into a sort like coma so her body, her mind wouldn't be overwhelmed and crash." He turned to Minerva. "Minerva, do you have the book?"

"Yes, Albus." Minerva stood up and walked to her desk as she picked up a large, old leather bond book. And handed it over to George. "We found more information about the scar."

George flipped open the book and turned the pages until he found a silver feather bookmark resting in between. He traced his fingers over the page as he searched for the paragraph.

"Blood scars?" George eyes went wide as he looked between McGonagall and Dumbledore. Fred leaned over as he repeated the words with a frown.

"Blood scars – Linked magic

Only people with magic can be linked together. There are only four known cases. What is known is that, for a still inexplicable reason, two people will be linked together for the rest of their lives. Were it being siblings, friends, lovers or strangers. The link will be caused by a scar, a scar they will receive the first time they meet and touch each other. When they touch, they will each get a cut that will turn into a scar, both wearing the same.

The four known cases all had different scars on different places of their body, they all met under the age of 10.

1499: Sisters, born one year apart. Scar: spiral Where: the hip Age: 1 & 0 1607: Strangers, two girls -Scar: Outline of a hill - Where: Ancle - Age: 7 & 9 1781: Strangers, boy & girl –Scar: A wave – Where: shoulder – Age: 3 1856: Brothers, twins –Scar: A cross – Where: lower right back –Age: 0

The sisters died together in 1509, at the age of ten due to dragon pox. Not much more is known about them.

The two girls who were strangers didn't meet again until they were 14, they became friends and when one of them died at the age of 34 the other died not even a year later.

The other strangers, a boy and girl, they lived in the same town and grew up together. At the age of 18 they got married. The two believed strongly in their bond and when he was dying, she cut her scar and his, as the scars touched a white light appeared on it. The next day, the illness of the man was gone.

The last pair, the twins had been researching about linked magic, scars. Experimenting with the scars, blood, magic. When the older twin died in a fire, the younger one tried everything to resurrect him. Then he knew, the bond, the scar. He cut open his scar and did it with his deceased twin and when they touched, a white light filled the room as the younger twin fell unconscious. When he woke up. His twin was breathing again, burns on his body fully healed.

It is speculated one can't live without the other, but since there are too little-known cases, it is just speculation." George finished reading and looked up. Nobody said anything for a while as they tried to process the information. Fred looked back to Leah sleeping or in a coma, whatever. He traced her palm, traced her crescent moon. Still shocked he could touch her.

"Fred?" Fred looked up when McGonagall called him. "How did you get here?"

"What do you mean? He came with me." George said confused.

"No, he was here before you."

George frowned as he took a notepad and a pen from his jacket pocket and laid in on the floor between him and Fred.

When I stepped in the floo next to you, I focused all my energy on Leah, since I didn't know if I could floo with you, like I do with her. So, I closed eyes and the next moment I was here.

"So, you can ghost apparate now?"

"No, I think it's the link between them. Now that her body, her mind is accepting the magic, it made the link stronger." Minerva said as she looked at George.

"Would it really be that simple? For them to cut their scars and connect them?" George asked looking between McGonagall and Dumbledore.

"Simple?" Minerva said with raised eyebrows. "Fred's a ghost, he can't touch her."

George looked wide-eyed to Fred, who had the same expression as he held Leah's hand firmly in his. "Didn't she tell you?"

"Tell me what? She didn't say much, she was withdrawn, which is unusual for her." She said, looking pensive at the young woman. "What happened? And why weren't you two here with her?"

George looked from Minerva to Fred's spot and sighed. "Fred and Leah... had a spat."

"A lovers spat?" The former headmaster asked with a sly smile.

"Yeah, that's why she wanted to come alone. But there is one big development that is crucial to getting Fred back... They can touch each other now." He saw McGonagall's confusion strike her face. "There was some sort of accident. Leah fell over a railing from a bridge and Fred reached out, trying to save her and he didn't go through. He could grab her hand and pull her back." George turned to the notepad between. "Can you still touch her?"

Yes

"It will take a lot from her, to bring him back. Unlike the twins, Fred's been gone for almost a year." McGonagall said.

I won't do it if she's going to get hurt!

"Let's just wait until she's awake. We'll tell her then and make a plan." George said as he summoned a chair, to sit next to Leah's bed.

"Minerva, maybe you could do the bloodline potion, while she sleeps. It won't affect her."

The twins huffed at that, and Fred quickly scribbled down. Yeah right, like what this potion wasn't going to hurt her!

" This is different, she isn't going to drink the potion. I just need one drop of her blood, I'll put it in the potion, and we can see about her history, her magical line." Minerva said as she picked up a small needle from the desk.

I don't like it... Fred wrote down, a frown still in place.

"It's just a needle, Fred. Minnie will have it healed right after."

Fine.

So, Minerva leaned forward and pricked her index finger, when she gathered one drop, she put it in a vial before she healed the small wound, leaving no trace. She summoned the second potion and grabbed it out of the air as it flew down to her. Fred, George and even Dumbledore watched with great interest as the headmistress worked. She dropped the single drop of blood in the vial and whispered an incantation, making the liquid bright red. She opened the vial back up and dropped it on a piece of parchment. Lines, names, dates all appeared in the bright red colour as they connected showing them her full family tree.

"Oh my!" Minerva said as she clasped her hand over her mouth.

"What is it?" George and Fred asked jumping up.

"Her magic goes back centuries. She is a Gryffindor." She said looking up from the parchment to the three men. "She is related to Godric Gryffindor."

"You're joking?!" George cried out as he looked at the parchment. But there it was, all the way to the top, Godric Gryffindor. "He's her great-great, how many times, great grandfather!"

That explains the immense power, Cassandra talked about. But what about her sight? It's been passed down from mother to daughter. Fred said, still in shock as he watched to George and Minerva from his seat next to Leah.

"Godric had one daughter and one son, but it doesn't say who the mother is." George said as he scanned the parchment. "OH! Minnie look!" George said, pointing down.

"She's Harry's third cousin."

"How in Merlin's name, didn't anyone know she was a witch with that background!?" George exclaimed in disbelief.

"It is fascinating." Dumbledore said from in his painting. "Truly fascinating."

"It's bonkers, that's what it is!" George shook his head before her turned to Minerva. "What now?"

"We wait until she wakes up." She said as she looked to Leah. Fred's aura, a mixture of pink and grey, hovering close to her.
