Chapter 21- Confrontation pt.1
01:30, 2 January 2020*Steve's Point of View*
"I... er... I gotta go see err... Clint."
Too good to be true. I was hovering over her, my eyes burried in the jungles of hers. I knew it was coming, I just wanted it to last for as long as I could. She used that excuse, that lie!
She wiggled out from under me as I sat, baffled by how she can simply just lie. She jogged over to the bench and picked up her shoes and socks, not bothering to put them on. Oh no, shes just gonna make a run for it!
Come on, Rogers, you've been preparing for this for the last 7 days. Confront her! I jumped up from my position and followed her to the door almost running to catch up to her. I don't think she noticed me. So many thoughts rushed through my fragile brain, so many emotions, anger and... and that same feeling I had with peggy. The love emotion. It was stronger than ever.
As she pulled the door open, I was a foot away from her. Come on, Steve, you need answers. Before she could leave the gym, I quickly grabbed her arm, tight enough so she couldn't escape but not cutting- off- the- blood- circulation tight. She turned back and the face that greeted me was one I have never seen before.
Her eyes were red, filled with guilt, shame and anger. Her cheeks were rosey, her tears staining her soft skin. Her eyebrows were furrowing and her lips were quivering at the sight of me. Instantly, guilt covered me from head to toe, is this what I do to her? I should stop now... no. I can't stop now. I need to know why she is getting upset and why she always leaves. Enough is enough.
"Rogers, let me go!" She demanded as I shut the door and pulled her to the side, her back against the wall. "No! What the hell are you playing at?!" Anger and rage filled both my face and hers. "Rogers! What the fuck is your problem?!" She yelled, her voice piercing my ears. I feel like I'm gonna break down and cry any second now but I know I have to stay strong. I have to find out. "You! Why the hell do you leave everytime we go to the gym?!" "I have to meet Clint-" I interrupted her. "You and I both know that is Bullshit!" Okay, I wasn't expecting to swear and I don't think she was either, she looked shocked at my remark. "I saw Clint last week and he said he hasn't seen you on a Tuesday! Only at team missions and weekends!" "Steve, please-" her voice was getting weaker, she was out of breath. Shit, I feel so bad. This is definitely the right time to swear. I kept my anger. "Why are you running?!""I can't tell you!" She yelled."Why?!" I yelled back. "I physically can't!" She yelled again. "Why?!" My anger only increased, and so did hers. "Steve! Please!" She yelled but I kept pushing. It isn't worth this much! Why am I still going?! I'm gonna ruin our friendship!"Just tell me!" "Steve.." she got quieter but she was still as angry. "Nat, just tell me!" I yelled back. "I LIKE YOU, OKAY?!"
