Chapter Five

21:07, 28 August 2015

a/n: Okay so I was going to use the name idea I got, Ali, but then something else popped in my head from a book I was reading and I couldn't stop myself from using the other one. Let's pretend that the baby has a middle name and it's Ali, okay? And yay! Starting to get to the actual Sokeefe story line.

"Ready?"Keefe asked, walking into her room. She nodded, and took his hand as the walked outside.

"Where are you guys going?" Grady asked once they walked outside. He was washing one of the unused cages, something he did before new animals were brought in.

"We're going to visit Silveny and S- the baby," she cut herself off from saying the name.

"Still not telling you, huh?" Grady laughed at Keefe's face.

"I don't get it. How come the name is more secret than the gender? Why can't I know it when I'm helping train her?" He sighed. "I'm going to get it out of you, Foster. One day, I will."

She smiled softly. "Hey, I only know it because they named her in my honor- crap." She slapped her hand over her face.

"They named her Sophie!" Keefe shouted as Grady shouted, "The baby is a girl!"

She shook her head. "No, her name isn't Sophie but. . . It's close enough." Sophie bit her lip. "Gosh, if Bronte finds out I told you even that, he might get enough rage and strength to actually inflict on me again."

"How is old pointy ears?" Keefe asked. "Still a huge butthole?"

Sophie let out a soft chuckle. "Yeah. I mean, not as bad as when I first met him, but not exactly my new adult best friend."

"Nah, your adult best friend is and always will be Alden," Keefe said. "Which kind of hurts since we're all adults now."

Sophie frowned. "Oh yeah. . . Then he can no longer be my adult best friend. He can be the 'good advice, like a third father to me,' guy, then," she said.

"Third?"

"Well Grady and my birth father. . . Well, then there's Mr. Forkle so I would say Alden's more like a fourth father to me. Elwin can be the cool uncle," she said, a wide grin on her face. "Which reminds me, I beat my old record for longest period of time without seeing him because I got hurt!"

"How long?" Keefe asked, a grin on his face.

"A whole three weeks, I'm proud of her," Grady answered, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. "Now, you guys need to go. Try not to accidentally tell him baby Silveny's name, Soph," he joked.

"Don't worry, Grady, I got you covered," Keefe said, mock saluting. He turned to Sophie. "Please tell me!"

"Covered my butt," Grady muttered, a smile on his face as he walked away.

"Shall we go?" Keefe asked, gripping her hands. She nodded, and she teleported quickly. Something she finally mastered when she turned eighteen.

___

Sophie! Keefe! Fly! Sophie immediately heard when the entered. She took in a small breath, not used to it being so loud in a while, but wasn't affected as much as she was when she was younger. "Silveny, how's S- your baby?" Sophie rubbed Silveny's wings softly.

Baby! Sparkle! Baby! Silveny transmitted.

"Yeah, she does kind of sparkle, doesn't she?" Sophie grinned.

"Sparkle? Is that her name? Is the honor they named her after you when you fell in Silveny's poop when you were training her?" Keefe bounced.

"No," Sophie said, rolling her eyes. "Silveny just transmitted she thinks So- the baby sparkles."

"Ah-ha! One step closer!" Keefe cheered.

"One step closer to what?"

"Finding out the baby's name! You just said So, and before all I knew was the name starts with S," he explained. "Are you sure it's not Sophie?"

"Trust me, it's not Sophie. I'll tell you if you're right," she assured. "Now, let's check out the little baby."

Silveny started transmitting. Baby! So-

___

"Alright, it was nice seeing you, Glitterbutt," Keefe said mockingly.

"Oh, hush," Sophie said with a laugh as Silveny started transmitting his nickname for her over and over. "Hey, maybe the next time we come she'll be recovered enough to let me fly on her."

Her and Keefe started to walk away to out side the sanctuary. "She's really recovered. I still can't believe she had a baby and it's been months," Keefe said, moving his arms around dramatically.

Sophie let out a laugh. "Yeah, little Sophia is really cute."

"Sophia?"

"Crap," she muttered before taking his arm and transporting him away, his laugh echoing around them.

___

"I didn't mean to tell him, I swear on my life it just came out!" Sophie immediately said once she got back from dropping Keefe off at his house and saw her visitor in ehr room, sitting on her bed awkwardly with Sandor looking at him with crossed arms.

Bronte rolled his eyes. "Of course you didn't. I've been teaching you to handle your emotions for the past few years and this is what happens! Your feelings for that boy got in the way and you told him Sophia's name!"

"It just ca- What do you mean feelings?" Her eyes widened.

"Oh don't play dumb with me, Miss. Foster. I know all about your list and who's on it." He rolled his eyes. "I was there when they made it."

"Why?"

"A friend of mine was requesting one of her own and I was there to make sure they didn't screw it up, she deserves the best of the best." He rolled his eyes. "Anyways, Fitz and Keefe were originally in different spots but I told the people to switch them."

"Why?"

"Because, it's better to mix abilities, better outcome for future children and whatnot. If you're with Keefe there's a better chance of your children having more different abilities. If you were with Fitz the kid would most definitely be telepaths, which are rare but we still need more Empaths and whatever the talent of the girl Fitz picks is as well," he explained. "Look at Alden and Della, for example. Their children are two vanishers and a telepath, but if Alden went with another telepath then his children would've probably only been telepaths."

"So what you're saying is you're basically setting me up with Keefe."

"There's also Zeb what's-his-last-name."

"Obviously I'm not going to end up with Zeb," Sophie said, rolling her eyes. "It was always going to be Keefe the second I crossed Fitz off my list."

"Then why haven't you told the poor boy? He's been chasing after you for years," Bronte said.

"What do you mean?"

"Name one of Keefe's girlfriends. Right now, please tell me I am listening," Bronte instructed.

Her eyes widened. "He's never had one unless it was a secret. . ."

"Because he's always liked you, gosh I could say he loves you. You've had other boys in your life, including a small fling with Fitz, his best friend, when you were sixteen. He stayed there for you. Fitz has had other girls. He never waited. Keefe has always been there for you. It's time you put that poor boy out of his misery and tell him." Bronte sighed. "If you don't I'll tell him for you."

"You're good at relationship advice," Sophie said. "When did you turn all mushy-gushy?"

"When you started inflicting class with me and I realized how truly spectacular you are. Now, tomorrow when I announce Sophia's existence and name, there's going to be a celebration party, and you're going to ask Keefe to go with you and in the middle when I start to say a speech, you two are going to sneak off and you're going t tell him you picked him, okay?" Bronte narrowed his eyes.

"You're literally setting me up with Keefe," Sophie said with a laugh. "But really, are you sure? I want to listen to your speech!"

"I'll send you a copy, just go and get together with that boy."

"Bronte."

"Yeah?"

"Why did you come here in the first place?" She frowned.

"To tell you we're announcing Sophia tomorrow," he said, frowning. "Wow, did we go off topic?"

Sophie let out a loud laugh.
