Carly’s POV:
Harry has been acting a bit weird lately. Ever since rehearsals in Miami, he has been a bit strange. I would ask him what was wrong, but he would lie straight through his teeth and say that everything is fine. I can easily read people’s body language and tell when they are lying, and Harry knows this, so why does he continue to lie? There’s something bothering him, I know it. I even asked the other boys if they knew anything, but they would just say they are just as confused as I am, not knowing what’s going on with Harry. Except for Louis. He would just look uncertain, as if he was hiding something, and wanted to tell me but couldn’t.
We were now in Toronto, Canada, and were a few weeks away from the Teen Choice Awards. Harry seemed so distant, and it was worrying me. Was it something I did? And not to mention, Harry would keep on looking at his phone, as if expecting a call or something. Why did he keep looking at it? I had half a mind to sneakily take his phone and see what he was looking at it, but that would be me invading his privacy, and I don’t want to seem like that person, because I’m not. If he wants to tell me, he will.
I let out a sigh, not wanting to think anymore, as I walked towards the kitchen of the huge hotel suite. But I stopped in front of the closed door when I heard voices from inside. “Harry, you have to tell her,” Louis’ urgent voice says. “You can’t keep lying to her.”
“I know, Lou,” I hear Harry say, his voice barely above a whisper as I strained to hear his voice. “But I don’t know how. I don’t want Carly to think it’s something it’s not.” Think what?!
“Haz, you know it’s the right thing to do,” Louis says a bit more firmly. “If you really like Carly, then you would tell her.”
“Fine,” I hear Harry sigh in defeat. “I’ll tell her.”
I didn’t hear Louis reply for at least five seconds, so I took that moment and walked into the kitchen, pretending that I didn’t just hear their conversation. “Hey, boys,” I fake a smile, upset over the fact that Harry was lying to me, right at my face.
"Hey, Carls,” Louis smiles, and then adds, “Well, I uh, need to call Eleanor. Bye!” he says and then runs out of the kitchen, leaving just Harry and I.
I turn to Harry and he smiles nervously at me, before averting his gaze. I let out a sigh and pour myself a glass of water. Once I drink it, I see Harry still avoiding my eyes, and that’s when I decide that I’ve had it. “Harry, what’s wrong?” I ask, putting my glass down.
“W-What?” Harry stutters, his gaze returning to me.
“What’s wrong?” I repeat, taking a step closer to him. “I know something’s bothering you.”
Harry shakes his head, his curls bouncing a bit. “It’s nothing, Carly, don’t worry about it.”
My heart falls. He told Louis that he would tell me, and I was about to tell him that before I caught myself. I don’t want to seem like an eavesdropper. “Harry, I’m not stupid,” I say. “I know you’re lying to me.”
“Carly, just drop it,” Harry snaps, glaring at me.
I’m caught a bit off guard by his tone, almost having to take a step back. “I’m not gonna drop it,” I reply, standing my ground. “You’re lying to me, Harry.”
“I’ll tell you when I want to tell you, alright?” he says harshly, his jaw clenching. “Just leave it.” And with that, he walks out of the kitchen, leaving me in shock.
What in the world was wrong with him? Why was he being so harsh? He has never spoken to me that way, snapping at me and such harshness in his tone. I even noticed his eyes change a bit, something flashing in them and they darkened. It was scary, to say the least. What has caused him to become so mad? It’s worrying me, and all I want to do is make sure that he’s alright.
Not even two weeks into this relationship and everything already seems to become a mess.
Harry’s POV:
I honestly didn’t mean to snap at Carly like that. My anger had gotten the best of me, and before I could even apologize to her, I walked out, feeling frustrated. The look on her face when I had snapped at her just made me feel even more gutted, to the point where I just want to pull all of my hair out. I want to stop lying to Carly and tell her everything, but I feel like she would just be upset with me.
Not as upset as she is with you right now, idiot.
The voice in my head bothered me. I knew it was saying nothing but the truth, but it still bothered me. But what bothers me even more is that my annoying ex-girlfriend keeps on texting me. I had told her numerous times to just leave me alone and not text me anymore, but I don’t think she seems to get the message. Kate texts me and keeps telling me that she wants me back, but I don’t buy it. She broke up with me two years ago, before I was going off in the X Factor, so why does she want me back now?
Fame.
Well, that question was easily answered. Kate wants me back for the fame, being in the spotlight. But that’s too bad for her, since I’ve already got myself a lovely girlfriend. Well, at least I hope I do. I still need to apologize to her for being such an ass for the past few days, and hopefully she will understand and forgive me.
My thoughts were suddenly interrupted when my phone buzzed, and I looked down at my phone, dreading to see who the text was from. Of course, it had to be Kate.
From: Kate
Come on now, Harry. I know you still love me x
Anger boiled in my blood as I read that text. How dare she think that I still loved her? I obviously had a life and got over her, but of course she didn’t. And I’m now willing to let her know that.
To: Kate
Look, Kate. I don’t know why you decided to text me after such a long time, but it has to stop. I don’t love you anymore, and I never will. You’re nothing but a past girlfriend, somebody that I used to know. I don’t need you anymore. I moved on, and I think you should too. I’m in a much happier and better relationship now, which you may or may not be destroying. So please. Delete my number and I’ll delete yours. Goodbye.
I impatiently waited for her to reply, and finally, she did.
From: Kate
You’re making a big mistake, Haz. Sooner or later you’ll come to realize that you need me. But goodbye. For now.
Glaring at my screen, I deleted all of my conversations with Kate, and the proceeded to delete her number. Once I made sure that it was deleted, I jammed my phone back into my pant’s pocket and walked out of the room I was sharing with Carly. Walking into the living room, I saw her watching something on TV, a bored look on her face. My eyes traveled over to the TV where I noticed that she was watching what looked like that Nickalodean show Degrassi.
“You watch that shit?” I ask her suddenly, and she jumps a bit, startled at the sound of my voice.
Carly’s brown eyes land on me and she turns away, not looking at me for more than a second. “No,” she stiffly answers.
I walk over slowly, sitting down next to her. “Then why are you watching it?”
“Because I feel like it,” she snaps, grabbing the remote and turning the volume of the TV up.
Dammit, she was really mad at me. I understand that she’s mad, and it just makes me feel even more guilty. “Carly, I’m really sorry,” I finally say, causing her to look at me. I take another breath before continuing. “I know I’ve been a bit distant lately, and I just want to apologize for it.”
Carly sighs, running a hand through her long hair. “It’s fine, Harry,” she says. “I just want to know why.”
I twiddle my thumbs as I look out them, not knowing what to tell her. “I...It’s just complicated,” I sigh, running a hand through my own hair.
“The uncomplicate it for me,” she says, twisting her body to face me properly.
“My ex-girlfriend has been texting me for the past couple of days and it was really bothering me and I didn’t know how to tell you,” I quickly tell her, saying it all so fast that it comes out as one jumbled up word. I glance up at her face, just to see what she looked like. Carly’s expression was unreadable as her eyes searched my face, and I killed to know what she was going on in that brain of hers. What she was thinking. “Carly?” I ask. “Please, don’t be mad,” I pleaded.
Carly finally let out a sigh as she shut the TV off. “I’m not... I’m not mad at you, Harry,” she says, and I let out a sigh of relief. “I just wish you told me before, you know? Instead of hiding it from me. I got really worried.”
“Why were you worried?” I ask her, confused.
She shrugs. “I just thought I did something wrong or something,” she says. “I thought you were mad at me.”
I smile at her, shaking my head. “Don’t worry, Carls,” I tell her. “I’m not mad at you. Not one bit.”
Carly smiles and nods as well. “Just tell me one thing,” she says and I nod, telling her to continue. “Do you still like her or anything?” she bites her bottom lip, referring to Kate.
I immediately shake my head violently. “No, no, God no!” I exclaim, chuckling slightly. I understood where Carly’s coming from, but I seriously have no feelings for Kate. “Trust me, Carly. My ex-girlfriend is what I’m saying: my ex-girlfriend. I have no feelings for her whatsoever. Only for you, babe.”
Carly laughs, her cheeks a little pink. “That’s good to know,” she gives me one of her dazzling smiles.
Just then, Louis walked into the room. He saw Carly and I smiling and a smile grew on his face as well. “Aw, you two made up?” he asks, and Carly and I laugh and nod. Louis cheers. “Yay! Can I tweet it out?”
“Um, I don’t think people should know that we were arguing, Lou...” I trail off uncertainly.
Louis rolls his eyes. “Just smile,” he says, taking out his phone.
I move closer to Carly and Louis quickly snaps a picture of us. He has a thing for taking pictures... A minute later, both Carly and I’s phones buzzed, and we took it out to see that Louis had tweeted the picture.
@Louis_Tomlinson: Here’s another #Harly moment for all of you lovely people! x @CarlyMcKinley @Harry_Styles http://i1248.photobucket.com/albums/hh496/biebersgirl222/8eaa0949f7b9956997add082be60c9a9.jpg
Smirking, I tweeted back.
@Harry_Styles: @Louis_Tomlinson @CarlyMcKinley Yes, yes, we know. We’re adorable ;D
@Louis_Tomlinson: @Harry_Styles @CarlyMcKinley Pffftttt. Keep dreaming, Styles.
@CarlyMcKinley: @Louis_Tomlinson @Harry_Styles If you two start a little Twitter argument I’m gonna hurt you.
@Louis_Tomlinson: @Harry_Styles @CarlyMcKinley Styles, control your girlfriend.
@Harry_Styles: @Louis_Tomlinson @CarlyMcKinley You know I try, Lou..
@CarlyMcKinley: @Harry_Styles @Louis_Tomlinson HARRY. LOUIS. SHUT UP RIGHT NOW. Before One Direction losed 2/5 of this members hehe oops.
After seeing Carly’s tweet, Louis and I simultaneaously looked at her and she smirked at me. “Glad you took my warning,” she says, tucking her phone away.
“I don’t like your girlfriend,” Louis says bluntly to me, before sauntering off.
“But I love you, Lou!” Carly calls after him, laughing, and I can hear Louis laughing too.
“Don’t worry, babe,” I say, pulling her onto my lap. “I like you.”
Carly laughs, sending me a cheeky wink. “Oh, I know you do.”
“No need to be modest, Carls,” I roll my eyes, before pulling her missed lips on mine.
I hadn’t felt her lips in a while, since I was a bit ticked off at the whole Kate thing, and I loved feeling her lips. She kissed me back immediately, and I smiled through the kiss. My tongue traced Carly’s bottom lip, and she parted her lips just enough to let my tongue slide into her mouth. Her arms wrapped around my neck as mine were around her waist, and my tongue danced with hers. I felt Carly’s hands runs through my curls as our lips moved perfectly in sync, but then we were interrupted.
Louis ran in the room yelling, “KEEP IT PG!” causing Carly and I to pull apart in surprise. We looked at Louis who snickered, “Good to know no baby making is going on here.”
He left with a grumpy face when I threw the couch pillow at his face and continued kissing Carly.
