Chapter 5.

The cheering from the Dauntless and the gasps from the other factions all sounded muffled as I walked over to the Dauntless section. Abnegation transfers were rare and in the past two choosing ceremonies 3 Abnegation have transferred so far me, Beatrice Prior and her brother Caleb Prior transferred last year. The rest of the ceremony seemed like a blur, I only rembered a few of the transfers; a girl from Amity to Dauntless,  5 from Erudite to Dauntless, a Dauntless boy to Abnegation, 3 Candor to Dauntless and Cheryl choosing Amity.

Once the ceremony was over the crowd began to disperse, except Abnegation that helped tidy the hall up. I ran down the stairs with the Dauntless and out of the Hub. To where we were going I do not know. It was difficult keeping up with them but if I didn't I'd seem weak and I could possibly end up factionless. I followed the Dauntless born who were in front to a train track. I couldn't help but smile, I have never felt so free in my life. I now know what it is like to be truly alive. I know inside I have made the right choice I will be Dauntless and I will be happy. As we ran to the train track I spotted a train and several  Dauntless born jumping on to it.

"Do we really need to jump on that? Whilst it's moving?" Asked the tall Amity girl with dark eyebrows and a short nose and curly ginger hair in a lose ponytail.

"Dauntless what do you expect?" I say trying to laugh. We ran to the train together grabbing hold of the metal handles on the side. The Amity girl easily made it, guess that she can survive. I, however couldn't get in so easily. I wasn't strong enough to make it in. Until an Erudite male with short brown hair and a long nose and olive skin pulled me in causing me to nearly fall on him. He smelt like lemon and lime not too overpowering like disinfectant,  more like soap from Amity.

"You okay?" He askes helping me up, his eyes are an ice blue easily capable of distracting somebody. His teeth were straight and white like pearls.

"Y-yes thank you." I say sitting beside him.

"I'm Connor." He says smiling.

"Sonia." I reply back.

"Well I don't know where Erudite get their info about Abnegation,  you seem alright." Connor says putting his head back to the wall. If only he knew.

"Well you seem cool as well." I say trying to relax, until I saw an Amity male trying to keep up with the train, but the more he ran the faster the train moved until he got smaller than a spec of dust. I have just seen somebody become factionless, their life ending before it had chance to begin. I get uneasy feeling in my stomach.

"Made it then?" Asked a female's voice, me and Connor both looked at her. It was the Amity girl who easily made it onto the train. "I'm Olivia do you mind if I sit with you?" She asked lowering her eyebrows.

"No of course not, I'm Connor and this is-"

"I'm Sonia." I say firmly, I can introduce myself. I don't need Connor to do that for me even if he is good looking. Olivia sat down next to us and talked to Connor whilst I tried to fight off the feeling of guilt. I feel guilty as me and Marcus departed on bad terms, we couldn't even make peace. He's probably still waiting for me at home in Abnegation not knowing that I'm not going back home, he is alone now. There again he shoukd have thought twice about abusing me,

The rest of the train ride seemed like a blur of buildings and people walking through out the city. The closer I got to Dauntless the further I got away from Abnegation.  I don't even know where the Dauntless headquarter is. How stupid.

"Get ready!" Shouted a Dauntless girl with raibow coloured hair and three lip piercings in the bottom lip.

"For what?" Asked a Candor male with dark brown skin and a shaved head.

"You'll see." Replied a smirking Dauntless male. Connor peered his head out of the train's door. He quickly pulled in back in again.

"There jumping!" Connor says.

"What?! Are they crazy?" Asked the dark skinned Candor male. Every transfer on the train looked to see if what Connor said was true. I could only just see past Connor's shoulder to see the Dauntless born jumping over to a nearby building. Some landing on their feet, some tumbling on the grey concrete roof others pulling themselves up on a ledge.

"Looks like it." Connor says.

"I-I can't do it... I'll die." Olivia whispers to me.

"You have to try. Otherwise the only option is Factionless a fate worse than death." I say to her. "Together?" I ask. Olivia nods her head. Deep down I am terrified,  this is my only chance to life a great life in the faction I have been so admired to since I was six years old. Eventually the transfers began jumping.  Without hesitation me and Olivia went to the back of the train and watched Connor along with other transfers jump off.

"1...2...3!" I shout running with Olivia beside me. We glided through the air I'm pretty sure I am screaming but I have no air in my lungs. We landed on the concrete roof Olivia scrapped her check, I scrapped the skin on my hands. Both of our clothes had tears throughout them.  I couldn't help but laugh, I couldn't help but laugh a reason why I chose Dauntless the thrills.

"Everybody over here !" Shouted a males voice. We all walked over to the source of the noise. There was a tall male, middle aged with dark skin standing next to another male tall and muscular with black greasy hair, intimidating grey eyes and at least ten piercings on his face. We all walked over to the two men, chances are they are probably Dauntless leaders.

"I am Max and I am part of the Dauntless leadership. Beside me is Eric another member of Dauntless leadership. Eric will be watching your initiation to see which of you are brave enough to be a part of Dauntless." The dark skinned male said walking over to me and Olivia.

"Well, well Eric, we have got transfers from Amity and Abnegation." Max said smirking. Eric slowly walked over. Amity and Abnegation tranfers to Dauntless are rare. Infact like I have said Abnegation transferring at all is a rarity.

"This should be interesting. Are you two really that determined to become Factionless?" Eric asked. Already the fact he will be watching our initiation chills me to the bone.

"Well. I did Dauntless on my result, so I must be doing something right." Olivia says.

"What about you stiff? Did you get Dauntless as well?" Asked Eric slowly. I shook my head, my mouth was too dry to speak.  "Ofcourse not." Eric says laughing. "Alright first test is to get into the compound. And this is the only way in." Eric looks down the building along with everybody else. There is a wide hole in the ground.  I tried to see what was inside but all I could see was blackness it could be anything to feathers or spikes in that hole.

"What's at the bottom?" Asked the dark skinned Candor male from the train.

"Well you're about to find out." Max replies.

"What about if we do not jump?" Asked a Candor female with short brown hair.

"Well it proves that you are a coward and don't belong in Dauntless. For those who can't muster the courage to jump now you definitely won't make it through initiation here." Eric says folding his arms.

"I think it will be safe down there. I mean they won't kill us on the first day." Connor whispers.

"They made us jump out of a train." The dark skinned Candor male replies.

"So one of you needs to jump first who is it going to be?"  Eric says louder he must have figured out that Connor and the Candor male were talking. Everybody moved their heads to see who would volunteer to jump.

"M-me ... I'll jump." I say quietly. Max and Eric must have heard me judging from their stunned faces.

"Aww look the Stiff is trying to be brave before she ends up Factionless. How sweet." An Erudite female says with short blonde hair and small eyes. It is her from the Choosing Ceremony. Her and her two friends laugh. I ignored her despite my temptation to punch her and her friends in the face. I climbed up the small ledge and regained balance.

"Hey Stiff don't crack your head open on the way down. Oh wait please do." The Erudite girl laughed. I closed my eyes and jumped.
