Chapter 32; The Interview

*Alicia POV*

*Next Morning*

I awoke to the sound of Brie’s alarm going off. It was 10 AM and we had to be at the airport by 1.

I put on the comfiest clothes I had in my suitcase; a pair of black leggings that stopped just above my ankles, a cute long green and white pastel striped sweater that fell just below my butt, and my white crochet toms. 

I straightened my hair and kept it pushed back with a black headband. I did the usual makeup as well.

I packed the rest of my stuff up and set it by my bed. Nikki was in the shower and Brie was with Bryan so I texted her;

Went out for coffee in the café downstairs. Be back soon

I grabbed my black leather purse and headed to the elevator. 

When I finally reached the café, I noticed an array of superstars down there.

Stephen and Randy were sitting together and motioned for me to join them.

“Hey Alicia,” they both said as I sat down by Randy.

“Hey,” I responded sleepily. 

“You look like you need some coffee,” Stephen joked as he ordered me some.

“I’ve been so jet lagged during this trip,” I said.

“Same here, as soon as we adjust, we are leaving again,” Randy said.

“I love traveling, but not the time changes,” Stephen said agreeing with us.

“So, uh, I hear you and Phil broke up,“ Randy said.

“Yeah, we did,” I confirmed.

“Well what happened fella?” Stephen asked.

“I don’t wanna air any dirty laundry. Things just fell apart,” I said.

“When did you guys break up?” Randy asked.

“A couple of days ago. Things had been rocky ever since I left for Paris,” I admitted.

“I’m sorry, I know you really cared for him,” Randy said.

My coffee arrived and I sipped it as we talked about various things.

When it came time to leave for the airport, I grabbed my bags and the diva’s title. I set the diva’s title in one of carry on bags.

After all the security checks and checking in bags, we finally boarded the plane. 

On my plane was; Celeste, Brie, Bryan, Seth, Paul, Seth, and Stephen.

I was pretty happy when Seth sat down next to me. We usually ride first class on all our flights. It is by choice, though. We pay for our airline tickets but WWE throws in some extra money in our paychecks for traveling.

Seth held my hand for takeoff and when we experienced turbulence. 

After an extremely long and tiresome flight, we touched down in NY and I was glad to be back in the states. We all checked in to a four seasons hotel by the arena. 

*Three Days Later*

Today I have a radio interview to do. I’m pretty excited for it actually.

For my outfit, I picked out a pair of distressed light wash capris that fell a few inches below my knees. I added  a flowy white t shirt and a pair of red chucks.

I loosely curled my hair and did the usual makeup. 

I grabbed my Diva’s title and headed to the radio station.

“Hi, I’m Alicia,” I said as I shook the interviewers hand.

“Pleasure to meet you, I’m Max,” he responded.

We got the cue that we were on air and Max exclaimed,” Today I am here with 2 time women’s and 3 time Diva’s champion, Alicia.”

“Hi, it’s great to be here!” I said cheerily.

M- So how have you beem?

A- I’ve been awesome, I just came back from an amazing tour in Paris!

M- How was that?

A- It was a lot of fun. The time change was pretty brutal though.

M- I bet, so how is it being diva’s champ?

A- It’s great, it’s my 5th championship reign and I’m really happy.

M- So what made you want to be a WWE Diva?

A- Well I grew up as a fan of wrestling. As I got older, I kinda knew it was what I wanted to do. I saw the Diva’s like Trish, Lita, and Victoria and I wanted to be like them. I realized I wanted to be a diva when I was 15 or 16.

M- How old are you now?

A- 27.

M- How old were you when you signed?

A- I was 21 years old when I signed and I wrestled in FCW for a year a half. At the beginning of 2009, I debuted for WWE. 

M- Were you nervous when you first debuted?

A- Hell yeah! I had a range of emotions leading up to my debut.

M- Who has been your favorite diva to wrestle?

A- I loved getting to wrestle Michelle McCool. She has so much raw athletic talent. Not to mention, she was a total sweetheart.

M- What do you think about a lot of WWE talent leaving?

A- It makes me sad because I loved working with them. However, a lot of them are stepping away to start families and begin a new chapter in their lives.

M- Who would be your dream opponent?

A- Probably Trish or Lita, I looked up to them when I was a teenager. 

M- Like Lita, you are a high flyer, correct?

A- Yes, I love doing exciting top rope moves in the ring.

M- They also have a lot of risks involved, correct?

A- Oh definitely.

M- Now a couple of months ago, you suffered a really bad concussion. What was that like?

A- It was awful. So basically, Eve was booked to win that match. We had planned for her to roll out of the way when I was doing the 450. She rolled out of the way, but I hit my head smack on the canvas. All I remember was thinking “OWW my head” before I blacked out. I guess Eve knew something was wrong, but she couldn’t break character. So she just pinned me on the spot. 

M- What did the trainers say?

A- They said I had to take a few weeks off to heal it. It could have been worse though.

M- That wasn’t your first injury though…

A- No, I sustained a fractured tibia a couple years back. It was during a match and I was in so much pain. I had to vacate the Women’s title and I was out for a few months. 

M- How disappointing is that feeling?

A- It was so tough because it was my first title and I only had it about 3 and half months before I got injured. But my sister helped me get through the rehab and whatnot.

M- Are you and your sister close?

A- Alaina and I are extremely close. She’s my younger sister and we look out for each other. We even have matching tattoos.

M- What do they say?

A- We have them on our ankles and its basically a black heart with the letter A in it for Alaina and Alicia. She talked me into it one night after we hit the bar. She's crazy sometimes!

M- Is she interested in wrestling?

A- Not really, she would hate the constant traveling and the possibility of injury. Besides, she wants a family soon.

M- Speaking of family, are you interested in having one?

A- I think In maybe 5 years or so. It’s not really on my mind.

M- So you just got out of a relationship correct?

A- Yes.

M- How long were you and Punk together?

A- Four almost 5 months.

M- What happened between you and Punk?

A- Things just don’t work out I guess. I’m not one to kiss and tell.

M- TMZ was wildly reporting on your relationship. What are your thoughts on that?

A- Well I think its hilarious that they find my life so entertaining.  

M- Are you seeing anyone right now?

A- no not really.

M- Do you think it’s easier to date someone in the WWE versus not in the WWE?

A- To a certain point, yes. If you date someone on the roster, they understand all of the traveling and being away from home. 

M- So back to wrestling, do you prefer being a heel or a face?

A- I’ve only been a heel once and it was at the beginning of my career. It is really fun to be the bad guy, but I like to be a good guy as well.

M- Have you ever had any strange incidents with fans?

A- Not really. All my fans are really sweet when they see me in public. They are super polite and I dig that.

M- Okay before we sign off, i do this with every guest. Tell me why you love this business...

A- Well i love it for so many reasons. I love traveling to new places and getting to meet fans all around the world. I love feeling the energy from the crowd when i wrestle. I love seeing smiles on faces of  my fan's when i take pictures with them or sign autographs. All those things make all of the traveling, hard work, and injuries worth it.

M- Well thank you for coming. Once again, we had WWE Diva’s Champion Alicia Marquez In studio.

A- Thanks for having me.
