Chapter 21: Cocktails & Chicken Nuggets*

At my consultation my doctor said it was perfectly fine to switch to an IUD and that I shouldn't need to have a ride after or anything like that. I scheduled my appointment to get the IUD at the point in my cycle that was recommended by my doctor which ended up being while Spencer was on a case. It's totally fine, honestly I'd probably rather spend the day adjusting alone than with Spencer being there. He would treat me like I was made of porcelain all day if he were here when I really just need a day to be lazy and eat takeout alone in bed while watching some tv series he would critique the entire time he watched it with me. I hum before saying "um I've been cramping a lot and I've been bleeding. They said that was to be expected though. It'll be okay in a day or two. They said to avoid sex for at least 24 hours, but that won't be a problem since you're in Florida right now." He laughs and says "true. You'll text or call me if you need anything? I hate that you're in even a little bit of pain because of me." I laugh "you think a lot of yourself Dr. Reid if you think I did this for you. I took the day off of work for this because my doctor recommended this specific day in my cycle to implant the IUD. It's Tuesday and I am thinking of planning a girls night on Friday or Saturday night. The team ends up wrapping up their case late Thursday and they fly back early in the morning. I wake up to Spencer coming in to the bedroom at around 4 am. Ryder starts growling before he realizes it's Spencer and then runs to him to greet him. Spencer shushes Ryder in attempts to not wake me, but he was too late. I wake up to my alarm at 7 am and quickly shut it off to get ready to work. Spencer wakes up to it, too. Alison chews her snack for a second and swallows before saying "depends. Are they going to arrest somebody again?" I laugh at her statement "not unless somebody assaults somebody. It won't be excessive I promise." Alison laughs and says "I hope we don't have to deal with jerks like that again, I was glad your FBI agent boyfriend showed up when he did because I don't know what Killian and I would've done. We would've had to get a bouncer or security guard I guess." I smile "yeah I was pretty ecstatic to see him, too, but I always am. If we have Emily and JJ with us we will be golden because they are both bad asses." Alison nods and I go to call Garcia. The phone barely rings before Garcia's bubbly voice comes through the speaker "hello, my peachy speechy, what can I do for you today?" I laugh and say "hey Pen, my girl friends and I are doing a girls night tonight and wanted to invite you and the BAU girls to join us?" Penelope gasps in excitement before saying "absolutely, sugar! I will text the girls and you text me the deets!" I say "sounds good, see you tonight!" Penelope says "toodles!" and hangs up. Alison looks at me and says "that was an interesting conversation." I laugh "Penelope is always fun to talk to." Just then Killian knocks and says "hey, bitches, I finally got my break to line up with y'all's snack time." I look at her and smile "good news, the BAU girls are coming out with us tonight!" Killian looks nervous for a second before saying "just the girls?" I nod suspiciously at Killian's question, "yes, why?" She quickly changes her face and says "no reason!" I make a mental note of that for later. I confirm "so meet at the bar at 9?" Killian and Alison confirm the time for me. I get ready to make some rounds on a few patients before going home to see Spencer for lunch. I get inside the apartment and smell something amazing. I walk into the kitchen and see spencer in his grey sweatpants, white t shirt, and mismatched socks cooking pancakes on the stove. He turns to me happily and says "hey, baby! Do you want some pancakes?" I smile and nod happily "they smell amazing Spence." When I get back to my apartment at 4:30, Ryder is in the crate and Spencer is gone. There's a note on the counter saying he went to his apartment like he mentioned he might do. By the time I'm ready, Killian is texting me saying she's downstairs waiting for me. I lock up the apartment and head down the stairs. We listen to the radio and just sing and dance along on the way there. I look at her and ask "are you okay? You've seemed off today." She smiles and nods "honestly, Annie, I'm fine." I smile and hug her back "me, too, Pen!" Killian and I sit down at the booth and Emily and JJ greet me and reintroduce themselves to Killian. Penelope comes back with a round of shots and a round of drinks. She winks at me and says "we'll catch Alison up when she gets here." I take the shot and the cocktail Penelope got me. It's delicious. I ask her "what is this?" She laughs and says "it's a sex on the beach! It's vodka, peach schnapps, cranberry juice, and orange juice!" I nod my head and continue sucking down my drink. JJ laughs and says "maybe if Will and I had waited awhile we wouldn't have had Henry." I look up and say "but that wouldn't be good, he's so precious." JJ laughs and says "but then I wouldn't be losing sleep and paying for a babysitter right now." I nod understandingly. Emily then says "but you guys have had sex." I nod and say "he's been very sweet and patient with me. He always makes me feel safe and loved. That's all I'm going to say about it." Emily laughs and says "just keep us updated." I smile and nod as Penelope brings another round to the table and Alison arrives.

~Spencer's POV~

It's about 11:30 when I hear my phone ringing and see that JJ is calling me. I answer the phone quickly, worried about Annie. JJ says "hey, Spence, um you might want to come get your girl." I immediately panic "why? Is she okay?" JJ laughs and says "she's fine, just wasted out of her mind. Penelope never let her have an empty glass for longer than 30 seconds." I nod to myself and say "okay, I'm leaving now, text me the address." She says "will do," and hangs up. I leave my apartment and drive over to the bar. I show my ID to the bouncer and walk in. I scan the bar looking for Annie, her friends, and my colleagues. I quickly recognize Annie's laugh and walk over to the table. Annie sees me and looks utterly surprised that I'm there. She jumps up, wrapping her arms around my neck and says "I didn't know you were coming to girls night, Bub's." I chuckle "I'm just coming to take you home, Annie." She pouts and says "why? The operator asks for confirmation and we drive around to the window. Annie says "awww you remember my order," with a happy pouty face. We get the food and drive off. I only let her have the shake because I doubt she will be able to eat the food without making a total mess. She sucks down the shake like a toddler given their first non watered down apple juice. She is about half way finished with the shake when we make it to her apartment. I carry the food and help her up the stairs so she doesn't fall over. Once we get into the apartment she clumsily runs to her room. At first I'm confused until I hear her baby talk to Ryder and giggling. After a couple minutes I yell to her "baby I'm going to eat a chicken nugget!" She runs so fast out of her room and comes to the kitchen island to sit down and says "you better not." I sit with her while she eats. She tries to only eat half of her food and I tell her "no, baby, you need to eat all of that since you didn't eat dinner before going out." She pouts and I say "no pouting." She accepts defeat and continues eating her food. She's being so messy when she's eating, like a toddler. When she's almost done with the second half of her food I get her a big glass of water and tell her to drink all of it. She protests but eventually gives in to me. After she finishes her food and her water she smiles at me and says "now can we have sex?" I laugh and shake my head "no, baby. Not tonight." She pouts and crosses her arms. I clean off her mouth and gently brush her hair, putting it into a pony tail so it won't get extra tangled tonight. I pick her back up and tuck her back into bed. I go to leave the room to get some stuff done in the living room and the kitchen and she goes "where are you going? Don't leave me." I chuckle and climb into bed with her quickly and hold her tight for a minute. I tell her "I'm right here, go to sleep baby." She quickly relaxes and soon begins quietly snoring. She doesn't snore every night, mainly when she's more tired than normal or if she's not feeling well. When I'm sure she's fully asleep I slip out to clean up the kitchen and sit on the couch to do some paperwork I didn't finish the day before. After about two hours I hear footsteps from the hallway, Annie's and Ryder's. Annie pads over to me on the couch before curling up in my lap. I chuckle "baby, I've got to get some work done before bed." She hums and says "okay, can I sleep on the couch next to you until you're done. I don't sleep as well when you're not in bed with me." I give her a quick kiss and nod before situating her on the couch with her head at the other end and her feet in my lap. She quickly falls asleep as I finish the paperwork. I look at her peacefully sleeping frame and wonder how I could love somebody so much. I finish up my paperwork and put it in my bag before picking up Annie bridal style and carry her back to bed and tuck her in. I quickly get ready for bed and slip into bed beside her. She immediately gravitates towards me, laying her head on my chest. I kiss the top of her bed and quickly fall asleep with her in my arms.

~Annie's POV~

I wake up in the morning with absolutely no memory of how I ended up back in my own bed, and in different clothes. Before I can tackle that conundrum I feel my stomach roll and run to the bathroom. I empty the contents of my stomach into the toilet and feel somebody holding my hair and rubbing my back gently. After the worst part is over I sit down and lean against the wall next to the toilet. As my vision comes back into focus I see Spencer getting a washcloth and wetting it with cold water. He folds it up and gently places it on my forehead. He chuckles lightly before saying "good morning." I just groan. After a minute I say "what happened? The last thing I remember is Emily asking about our sex life when I got to the bar with Killian." Spencer rolls his eyes, he must not have known about that part, and says "JJ called me to come get you because Garcia had gotten you pretty wasted. You were excited to see me, but didn't want to come with me. I had to bribe you with McDonald's." I nod and grimace "that's what that taste was." Spencer chuckles and says "you also really wanted to have sex, but I kept telling you no and you would pout. At first you stripped naked and got in bed in only your jewelry and makeup. I dressed you and got you ready for bed." I nod and say "that's a bit embarrassing." Spencer chuckles "it's okay baby, I'm happy to take care of you. But you did earn a few strikes with your behavior last night." My eyes widen and I say "what for?" Spencer says "you didn't eat dinner before going out to drink and you pouted a lot. I'm only going to give you 4 strikes for last night because you were quite inebriated." My jaw drops and I say "4 is a lot considering I didn't know what I was doing." Spencer cocks his head to the side and says "do you want to make it 5?" I shake my head and look down. He says "you were very bratty last night, I can't just let them slide completely. I'm being very generous right now." I nod and say "thank you." Spencer nods "good girl, we can worry about those strikes later, right now let's just get you feeling better. There's ibuprofen for you on your nightstand with some water. I'll bring you something light to eat." Spencer helps me to my feet and I walk to bed and say "thank you, Spence." He kisses me on the forehead and says "no problem, princess, rest up."
