Chapter 1: A Blast From The Past
13:15, 26 October 2013“Ben, seriously why do you have to see Dom?” 14 year old Pixie O’ Connor asked her 17 year old boyfriend Ben Sax.
They were speeding around town mid- afternoon, drunk and having fun. Ben and Pixie were in love with each other and cars.
Since she was four; Pixie had been surrounded by cars and Ben he grew up with them.
But Ben’s parents were killed in a street race that went wrong and Pixie’s father left her and her mother 2 years after her older brother had left them now her mother was in hospital with Leukaemia.
Dominic or Dom Torretto had taken them under his wing and now they were riding freelance but Pixie was hiding from another group of car-lovers who she worked for.
They pulled up to a little café owned by Dom and his younger sister Mia Torretto.
“You go buy us something to drink and then we can hit the sack” he sighed pressing his lips against hers.
“Fine, but you’re dropping me off and checking the safe house” Pixie smiled.
“Would I ever lie to you?” He smirked getting out of the car.
Pixie shrugged and followed and groaned “Hey, Vince look whose back!” she called out to him as he, Letty, Leon and Jesse pulled up.
He followed her finger and saw Brian O’Connor sitting at the bar talking to Mia.
“Him, again?” Vince hissed.
“By the looks of it, he isn’t here for the food” Letty smirked as she pushed her sunglasses up.
“Hey, Mia, can we get the usual?” Pixie asked sitting beside Brian.
“Aren’t you too young to be drinking?” Brian gasped.
“Meh, it’s genetic” Pixie shrugged. “My dad was an Alcoholic”.
“That doesn’t make sense” Brian snapped.
“Hey O’Connor, leave the girl, Pixie works for me and as a bonus; she gets to drink” Dom explained leaning against the door into the back room.
“We got the car and it’s at the safe house” Pixie changed the subject.
“Good, tonight you get a night off” Dom nodded. “You look like you need the sleep”.
“You do know that she hasn’t slept in a week and a half” Letty added.
“No wonder you look like you’re stoned” Dom smiled.
“You should see Ben; he is actually stoned” Pixie laughed getting into the car.
“You run along now and no stealing parts for that bike of yours!” Dom called.
“Hey, that’s the best part of my nights off!” Pixie shouted as she and Ben drifted around the corner home.
“I worry for that child” Jesse sighed. “I really do”.
“We worry for you, Jesse” Mia smiled slightly. “Dom, Pixie will be at the house tonight, won’t she?”
“Yeah, she will so let’s try and not have the volume too high” Dom leaned back against his chair.
“Harry, why didn’t you tell me last week that Brian was here?!” Pixie squealed. She had arrived at Harry’s Auto shop and confronted him about Brian.
“You said you didn’t want to know if he was in town” Harry threw his hands up. “I thought you meant it”.
“I said let me know if he was in town so I could hide from him” Pixie sighed. “Brian can’t know his little sister is still alive and in town instead of being in school four states over”.
“I’m sorry, Pixie but you have to tell him sooner or later” Harry shook his head. “Brian works here now so you better stay clear of here for now”.
“I know, if he asks you who I am tell him I’m your illegitimate niece” Pixie explained.
“Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you’re not discovered by a cop” Harry nodded. “You get going before he gets here”.
Pixie nodded and went around the back of the shop to get her roller blades. Even though the roads were rough and filled with pot holes, they were actually smooth enough for roller blades.
Zipping through traffic and past parked cars Pixie rolled up the drive-way of the small little house of 1327.
Mia was already there cooking up dinner for them “Hey, there’s a book with some Comprehension questions in it upstairs” Mia smiled. “Once you’ve finished dinner I want you to read “The Civil War” story that you bought last week and answer the questions about it, ok?”
(Pixie was Home-schooled by Mia for Theory aka Maths English, Science and the other subjects other teenagers her age should be doing and Practical by Dom and the gang aka stealing and driving cars the things that other teenagers her age shouldn't be doing).
“Sure, please tonight don’t have the music too loud” Pixie yawned sitting down at the table and began playing with the frayed edge of the cloth.
