Chapter 42: Deku Vs the big three

15:43, 6 October 2019

"LADIES AND GENTLEMAN BOYS AND GIRLS WELCOME TO THE FIGHT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR!" Present Mic screamed over the tannoy. The arena shook as the crowd cheered and applauded.

"Wow this really is a sell out event. Everybody is here just to watch me fight and see if I can compete with the big three huh? If it sold out so fast I wonder how many people are watching this on TV" Deku said getting a little nervous about the crowd.

"Don't worry about it when the fight starts you'll soon forget about the audience. Besides when you're a pro people will be watching you all the time when you fight so get used to it. You did fine in the sports festival so you'll be fine now" Uraraka reassured him squeezing his hand a little.

"Yeah you're right once the fight starts I'll completely forget the crowd" Deku said remembering he'd done this before in the sports festival and in the provisional licensing exam.

I've got this.

"ENTERING THE ARENA FIRST... FORMERLY THE TOP THREE STUDENTS IN UA UNTIL YESTERDAY...THE BIG THREE!" Present Mic announced to the crowd as Mirio, Nejire and Tamaki entered the arena earning a loud chorus of cheers and applause sending shockwaves through the stadium.

"Did he have to remind them that I knocked them down the rankings?" Deku asked a little worried now. He knew that would only drive them more to beat him in this fight.

"I'm sure it'll be fine" Uraraka lied poorly scratching the back of her head and getting flustered seeing Deku's concern.

"Look I appreciate the encouragement but you're not doing a great job" Deku said scratching his head now. She slapped him.

"Well excuse me for trying to be helpful. Ungrateful little shi-" she was cut off by Deku kissing her deeply making her instantly forget how annoyed she was with him.

"I'm very grateful. I love you so much" Deku said pulling back about half an inch from her face.

"I know. I love so much too" she replied before initiating another deep kiss.

"Oh we should probably give these two some privacy" Present Mic said over the tannoy. Instantly Deku and Uraraka stopped kissing and looked around. They saw the camera pointing right at them and the stadium was extremely quiet the only noise being a few whistles and whispering as people were clearly talking about what they were seeing. They'd been so engrossed in the moment they hadn't heard Present Mic (somehow I mean the guy literally shouts at people for a living) introduce Deku and the camera had filmed the entire encounter. Broadcasting their kissing to the whole world. As soon as they both clocked what was happening their faces went an unbelievably bright shade of red. They turned back to look at each other and realised how close they were still instantly jumping back from one another in embarrassment.

The whole world just watched us kiss. The whole world just saw me kiss Deku and tell him I love him. I'm never going to hear the end of this am I?

"So um...I should probably..." Deku tried to talk but he was too embarrassed. He couldn't even find the strength to move and enter the arena like he was supposed to be doing.

"Yeah...good luck...see you later..." Uraraka managed not looking him in the eyes holding her hands behind her back and swaying her body side to side in embarrassment. Deku took one step and immediately stopped.

What's he doing? He needs to get out there.

"Ah screw it" Deku mumbled to himself.

"Dek-" she was cut off again by him kissing her. It was only a small one this time but it was enough to make her cheeks feel like they were burning.

Did he just...did he...no...he didn't...he did...did he?...is this happening?...on live TV? He just kissed me again on live TV...for everybody to see...are you crazy Deku? My parents are gonna kill you!

"You wait here. I've got a fight to win" Deku replied. Uraraka couldn't help but swoon at his confidence.

"Go kick some ass Izuku" she said. As she did she clasped her hand over her mouth.

"What did you say?" Deku asked certain he'd heard her wrong.

"N-nothing! Just get out there already people are waiting" Uraraka replied flustered and hurrying him along to get out of the conversation as fast as she could.

"But it sounded like you said-" Deku began wanting to tease her about this now but she cut him off.

"N-no I didn't! Now go already we can talk about it afterwards!" she said spinning him around and giving him a small push towards the arena. He looked over his shoulder at her but she simply crossed her arms and pulled a disapproving face as if to say "nope not talking about it". He decided it would be in his best interest not to carry on the conversation and just get on with this fight already. Sure it was fun and all teasing his girlfriend but he had a global audience waiting to see him fight the big three. As entertaining as their interaction was they were probably getting impatient.

"FINALLY IZUKU MIDORIYA ENTERS THE ARENA!" Present Mic announced as he walked out into the huge stadium.

Looks like a storm is coming. This stadium doesn't have a roof either so why would the stands still be packed like this? Aren't people worried about getting wet? I guess some people really are desperate to watch this fight in person.

"Hey Mirio" Deku greeted the former number 1 student as he took his position in the ring.

"I hope you're ready for this" he replied not missing a beat.

Damn he's really up for this. I guess he's desperate to reclaim his number 1 spot.

"Oh I'm ready. I don't think the three of you are though" Deku said making sure they knew he wasn't just here to be kicked around.

"Let's just all do our best" Nejire said with her usual bright smile. Tamaki simply grunted.

"Let's do it" Mirio said getting into a fighting stance.

"I've got this" Deku mumbled to himself. He began to quickly come up with a plan and strategise since he realised he hadn't done that yet.

"THE RULES ARE SIMPLE. TO WIN ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS KO THE OPPOSITION OR MAKE THEM SURRENDER OR FORCE THEM OUT OF THE RING. ANYTHING GOES SO GET CREATIVE. IS EVERYBODY READY FOR A SHOW!?" Present Mic asked over the tannoy earning a loud roar from the spectators filling the stadium. Deku got into a fighting stance knowing what he was about to do.

Let's do this.

"3...2...1...BATTLE!" Present Mic announced giving them the cue to start fighting. The moment it started Tamaki launched his tentacle fingers at Deku. However he'd been anticipating that would happen so he flicked his finger charging One for All in it to send out a large burst of energy to negate Tamaki's attack.

"That was a little predictable wasn't it?" Deku asked.

"Was this?" Mirio asked suddenly appearing behind him his arm raised ready to strike. Deku knew if he tried to punch him and counter his arm would just pass straight through him. So instead he dodged out of the way. The moment he was out of the way though he noticed Nejire was quickly closing the distance on him.

If she gets too close there's no way I'll be able to dodge those golden rings of energy. I need to wear her and Tamaki down so that their quirks become useless. The longer this fight goes on the more difficult it will be for the two of them. Mirio on the other hand...

"Gotcha!" Nejire said triumphantly as she began to launch an attack at Deku. She was right next to him. He quickly launched himself at her and landed a kick to the back of her head slamming her face first into the ground before she even had the chance to attack him. Tamaki had launched his tentacle fingers again seeing Deku's attack prompting Deku to yet again flick his finger and then burst towards him while he was knocked off balance from the blast of energy. He quickly grabbed Tamaki by his tentacles and swung him around before slamming him down on the floor.

"TAMAKI IS ELIMINATED!" Present Mic announced. He hadn't moved from his starting position meaning he was right next to the boundaries of the ring. Deku had sent him flying outside of the boundaries and eliminating him from the match.

Big mistake Tamaki you should have been in the middle of the ring using your tentacle fingers to keep me around the edges of the arena. But if they weren't planning to try and eliminate me by ring out then that means...they're going for the knock out.

Deku turned around to see golden rings flying towards him albeit very slowly. He dodged them with ease before observing that Nejire was the only one in the ring with him that he could see. Mirio was nowhere to be seen.

Which means...

Mirio came flying up through the floor directly beneath Deku however he'd been anticipating it and had already began his punch. The moment Mirio came bursting up through the floor Deku's fist connected with his face sending him flying towards Nejire. He managed to activate his quirk again in time to pass through her unharmed.

"How did you..." Mirio couldn't finish the question. Nobody had ever managed to predict his movements that well before. The timing was perfect.

"Simple. Your quirk is extremely useful because I can't attack you when it's activated. Or at least in the areas of your body it's activated in. However I know that when you pass through the floor the moment you deactivate it you're sent flying back up to the surface because your body mass can't overlap with any already existing mass. Meaning that when you come bursting back up through the floor your body is solid and I can get a hit in. So you're going to have to do better than that" Deku explained.

"Hm. I'm impressed" Mirio admitted.

"We spent enough time together saving Eri for me to know your weaknesses and strengths Mirio. It shouldn't be that surprising that I know how to fight against you" Deku said.

"Good point. Now enough of the small talk let's fight" Mirio said charging back towards him. Deku readied himself knowing more golden rings were coming his way. Right on cue he saw Nejire launch them at him.

She must be getting tired releasing that much energy. Not to mention my attack must have drained some stamina out of her. Just a bit more then she'll be open for the takedown.

He dodged her attack with ease again and sprinted towards Mirio his usual green energy trail being left behind him. As he closed the distance on the former number 1 student he raised his fist as if he was going to punch him and made it look like he was going for the head. Mirio saw his attack incoming and activated his quirk but only in his head. However at the last second Deku's fist lowered and he instead sweeped Mirio's legs from under him.

That was a big gamble but it worked. There's one thing bothering me though. Am I holding back? I don't feel like I'm moving anywhere near as quickly or as ferociously as I did in training yesterday. Right now I'm using 8% of One for All. When yesterday All Might thinks I was using around 10-15%. I didn't do it on purpose it just happened. So let's try and do it intentionally and end this fight!

Deku attempted to charge more of One for All through his body. He felt his power and his speed increasing.

"OH AND HERE IT IS FOLKS IT LOOKS LIKE MIDORIYA IS FINALLY GOING TO SHOW US THE SPEED AND POWER HE HAD YESTERDAY IN HIS TRAINING!" Present Mic screamed down the microphone earning yet another loud roar from the spectators. This is what they had come to see. Deku going all out and taking his opponents down like it was easy.

"Mirio he's too fast! I can't keep track of hi-" Nejire never finished her sentence as Deku's fist slammed into her stomach sending her flying out of the ring leaving only Mirio left.

This is it. 1v1. Even alone he's powerful. Let's do this.

Deku charged at him landing a punch to his face again. Mirio had tried to activate his quirk but couldn't react in time as Deku moved so fast that the moment he'd charged at him his fist was connecting with Mirio's face. Before Deku could land another attack though Mirio phased into the floor.

"You can't hide from me!" Deku screamed before charging One for All through just one arm and slamming his fist into the ground cracking it and sending rubble flying into the air. However Mirio was nowhere to be seen.

Where is he?

Deku had the answer to his question when he felt a hand on his hood pull him off of his feet.

"It's over Midoriya. POOOWWWWEEEE-" Mirio never finished. He'd aimed to simply throw Deku out of the ring and take the win over the knockout. However Deku knew his whole body was solid again as he'd clearly warped back to the surface again and he wasn't expecting an attack when he was mid throw. That's exactly what happened though. As Deku was pulled off of his feet he'd grabbed onto Mirio's wrist and as he was flung over his shoulder Deku used One for All to send himself back into the floor and used the momentum to throw Mirio instead. The stadium was silent.

"MIDORIYA WINS!" Present Mic announced causing the arena to burst into cheers, applause and whistling.

I...I did it... I really did it.

At that moment the storm Deku had seen coming before their fight hit. It began to pour with rain.

"Deku!" Uraraka screamed running up behind him into the ring her eyes full of tears.

"Ochako?" Deku questioned as she flung herself at him and hugged him.

"I'm so proud of you" she sobbed into his chest. He returned her embrace feeling her warmth and also trying to keep her warm in the now terrential rain.

"Thank you but you could've waited you know? You're getting soaked" Deku said a little guilty that she'd came running into the arena just to hug him and tell him how proud she was. Already their hair was dripping wet and was dropping down their faces as it essentially stuck to them with the weight of the water in it. Uraraka pulled her face back from his chest to try and look up at him however her face had been covered by her hair.

"Goddamnit stupid rain. Whatever I'm proud of you and I love you" she said not wanting to let go of him and lose the feeling of his warmth. However Deku helped her out by brushing the wet hair out of her face so she could see him.

"Thank you. I love you too" Deku replied before kissing her. They'd completely forgotten about the global audience they had right now but they didn't care. They just wanted to enjoy this moment as their kiss turned into another kiss. Followed by another. And another until they were definitely making out in front of the whole world.

Who knew making out in the rain could be so hot? I'm gonna have to do something special for him tonight.

"Sorry am I interrupting?" Mirio asked suddenly stood next to them. Hearing his voice made them stop immediately remembering they were still in the ring.

"Sorry. Heat of the moment" Uraraka said still aroused from the steamy moment they'd just shared.

"Ochako!" Deku protested. Her tone had been very telling and so was her grin when she looked back at him.

Great so now the whole world has seen me make out with my girlfriend and now probably knows what we're going to be getting up to tonight.

"It's ok I get it. You're still 16 it makes sense. Anyway I just wanted to say congratulations Midoriya. You've earned the number 1 student spot at UA. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more" Mirio said offering his hand to Deku. He took it as both of them shook. However he was pretty certain that over all the cheering he could hear Bakugo screaming something along the lines of "I DESERVE IT MORE THAN HIM YOU BASTARD!" or something like that.

"Thanks. Hey I never had the chance to say I'm glad your quirk came back" Deku said remembering he hadn't had the chance to talk about this with him.

"Yeah well me too. I thought it never would but thankfully it did. I'm very lucky and very thankful that it has though" Mirio said and he meant every word. Deku understood where he was coming from. He knew all too well what it was like to be quirkless and want nothing more than to be a great hero.

"Me too. The world needs great hero's like you Mirio" Deku said.

"Thank you. It needs you too Midoriya. I can't even begin to imagine how great of a hero you'll be when you graduate" Mirio said the two of them lighting a fire within each other to keep pushing and striving to be the best.

"Deku this is sweet and all but can we go now?" Uraraka whispered in his ear.

"Hm? Why what's up?" he asked. She simply answered by kissing him again sneaking a bit of tongue into it this time.

"Oh ok I get it" he said getting the message. He picked her up into a bridal style hold before sprinting out of the arena and back towards the UA dorms. It was going to be a long trip even with his speed.

"Come on Deku hurry up. I want to see what the number 1 student in UA is capable of" Uraraka said flirtatiously her eyes full of desire.

Oh I think I'm going to enjoy whatever she has in store for me tonight...
