6: Jajangmyeon: Take Her Back

06:11, 17 December 2021

"So what's your plan?" Mina asked me as I told her about my plan on winning Nayeon back.

"To make her love me again. I think that sounds like a plan. Don't you think so?" I answered confidently.

"That doesn't sound like a plan. That's more of a goal Jeong, and you need a plan to achieve that goal." She explained and I looked at her helplessly. I don't have a plan damn it.

"Does that mean I d-don't have a plan?" I cluelessly asked her.

"Exactly! Stupid." She sneered as she rolled her eyes on me.

"Oh shit. What am I suppose to do then?" I panicked. I don't know how to initiate a plan.

"Think of a plan. That's what you should do." She said as if she's done playing stupid with me. I can memorize all the nerves in a person's brain but couldn't think of a plan to win my ex back.

"What plan?" An authorative voice said, came from a small figure that suddenly emerged from the door.

"Babe! How long have you been there?" Mina said excitedly as she saw her girlfriend standing at the door.

"I just arrived." Chaeyoung said and approached Mina and tiptoed to kiss her in the forehead. "So what's the plan that you were just talking about? I'm good at planning, count me in." My eyes lit from what she said. Maybe she can help me, she's a prosecutor after all.

Wait, what does her being a prosecutor had to do with this? Nevermind.

"Well, it's a plan on how Jeongyeon will win back her ex who's a famous star right now." Mina said and Chaeyoung laughed.

"Oh! Nayeon unnie, I remember. But unnie, do you even stand a chance?" She chuckled and i gave her a look.

"Oh you don't belittle me Chaeng because you're the only one who's little here." It was my turn to laugh and Mina laughed along with me that made Chaeyoung give us a killing stare.

"Babe, why are you laughing?" Chaeyoung pouted to Mina losing all her tough image as a prosecutor.

"Because it's funny. Don't worry, I still love you though." Mina said that made me gave them a bored look. I hate seeing their bullshit. It's not even cute.

"Oh stop that sweet stuffs. Help me first please!" I cutted their sweet moment. I need a plan.

"Yeah, right." Chaeyoung rolled her eyes and sat beside me. "So what made you think you'll win her back though. Like, seriously. She is an idol." She looked at me seriously this time.

"Well, something actually happened. You see, she was my first patient when I started working here. I performed the surgery on her contusion. We had a talk that night on the rooftop and... we kissed." I hesitantly told her. Well, she knows about me and Nayeon, all of our friends did. But, it's a bit embarrassing now because we broke up, and it's been 10 years already. So I'm not actually confident on telling anyone that I kissed Nayeon.

"That's a goddamn good start unnie. But you just mentioned you performed her surgery, right?" I nodded. "You probably stitched her." I nodded again. "Then you have to remove it. You'll meet her again, so start it out by talking to her and sorting things out first." My eyes widened, how can I not think about that. I really am stupid.

"You're a genius Chaeng!" I stood up and cupped her cheeks. "Thank you!" I said and kissed her forehead.

"Hey! That's Mina's property. You're gross unnie!" Chaeyoung said as she wiped her forehead with her hand. I just smiled at her and started walking outside the room.

"Where are you going?" Mina asked.

"I'll set up an appointment, Minari." I excitedly answered.

I stepped out of Mina's office and walked towards the nurse station to set up my appointment with Nayeon. I was jumping while walking to the nurse station showing how excited am I.

"Nurse Hwang!" I excitedly said to her that almost made her jump from her seat. She looked at me for a few second before reacting.

"You startled me Dr. Yoo." She said as she dramatically hold onto her chest.

"I'm sorry." I chuckled.

"So what is it that you need Doc?" She asked as she calmed herself down.

"Uhmm. Please set up an appointment for me. Call Ms. Im and tell her that we need to remove her stitches tomorrow."

"I thought Dr. Moon will do that?" She asked. I completely forgot about that, but I can just talk to him.

"Oh. I'll tell him that I'll do it. It's my patient anyways. So I'll go and tell him right now. Set up an appointment for me, okay?" I said and she just nodded. I walked towards Dr. Moon Bin's office right away. He may be done on the surgery by now. My excited genes couldn't wait any longer.

I walked towards his office and knocked. I heard him said to come in so I opened the door and came in. I saw him reading some papers, it looks like he's studying.

"It was you, Dr. Yoo." He said as he welcomed me with a smile.

"Uhmm, yes. I heard you were the one to remove the stitches on Ms. Im's head tomorrow?" I asked him.

"Oh about that. I was about to ask you a favor to do it instead, I have a seminar tomorrow. So is it oka--"

"No problem! It's definitely fine." I cutted him off that made him gave me a surprised look.

"O-okay. Thankyou Dr. Yoo." He said and I smiled at him before exiting his office.

This is going perfect. My first step on my plan is totally working. I should treat Chaeng better for this, she's such a saver.

But before all that, I rememebered I will be on duty tonight so I should go and eat first as much as I can because I wouldn't be able to eat dinner later. I don't want to bother the two sweethearts so I didn't ask them to eat with me. I can't ask my sister too, she has an on going project as of now. And I don't have anyone, so I have no choice but to just eat alone.

I took the bus to go to the chinese restaurant me and Nayeon used to go. She loves the jajangmyeon there and not much people go there, so no one can see us, that's why it was our favorite. But it's all in the past now. I wonder what if I never ran away that time, what will happen to us? Would I have her beside me to eat with me now? Would we be happy despite the regrets if ever she sacrifices her career that time? Or would she be blaming me by now?

There are endless possibilities that might happen, but all I know is that through those 10 years, for every day and every minute of my life, I'm regretting leaving her.

The bus stopped so I got off. The restaurant is right across the street so I waited for the pedestrian light to turn green before crossing. I was smiling ear to ear of excitement because I can finally eat there again, but right then, I saw a car arrived and parked in front of it. I guess people recognized the resto now.

I am not usually interested in other people's business but as I cross the street I saw a guy got off the car and turn to open the door for someone in the passenger seat, but I didn't mind it anymore and gone inside the restaurant. I was excited to go back in here because I was close with the ahjumma who owns the place. I wonder if she still remembers me.

I walked inside and there were no people inside, maybe it's too early for dinner.

"Ahjumma!" I called for her when I saw her cleaning the table. She looked at me like she's studying the features of my face when she finally smiled and run to me excitedly while saying my name.

"Jeongyeon-ah! Is that you already?" She said as she happily circled around me.

"Yes it's me ahjumma. I miss this place so much." I said and hugged her. I let go and she smiled looking at me and the door behind me.

"You've never been here in ages, I see you're still both dating huh? Good for you." She said that got me confused.

"What are you saying ahjumma?" I laughed. "I have no one with me." I said but she just furrowed her eyebrows.

"Didn't you come here together with your girlfriend?" She asked as she pointed to someone behind me.

I looked and my eyes widened as I saw Nayeon standing at the door, looking surprised too that she saw me here.

"No ahju--" I was about to explain everything to ahjumma when Nayeon cutted me off.

"We didn't came together ahjumma, I have someone else with me." She said and the guy I saw outside earlier came in and Nayeon held onto him.

I felt a sting in my heart and I felt my stomach burning when I saw her with someone else.

It feels as if my world is turning around and crumbling in front of her. That's right, why didn't I think of that? It's been 10 years and I can't expect her to not move on due to that span of time. I didn't take into consideration that she might have someone else by now. I completely forgot about that. I planned without thinking about this possibilities.

"Oh, I'm sorry. Come here Jeongyeon sit in the front and tell me stories, it's been a while. And the both of you can sit wherever you may like." She said smiling as she pulled me in the front table near the cashier.

"What would you like Jeongyeon?" She asked as she pulled the seat for me.

"Just what I used to order years ago ahjumma." I tried to said to her in a normal way to not show that I hate what I just saw seconds ago.

"How about you Nayeon, what would you like?" Ahjumma turned to ask Nayeon.

"We'll just order a take out ahjumma. Two jajangmyeon and one large plate of sweet and sour pork." She said and ahjumma nodded to her before going to the kitchen.

I tried my best not to turn around and look at them. This is horrible, I felt horrible. The pain is still not going away. The picture of her holding onto that guy is not going away. Even though I'm not looking, thinking that she had someone else to eat jajangmyeon here other than me is the worst thing I could think of.

Just after a few minutes, ahjumma came out and gave me a bowl of jajangmyeon with egg and radish. Then she walked towards Nayeon and the guy to give their order, after they paid, I heard the door opened and closed again.

"You still love her, don't you?" I heard ahjumma suddenly said behind me. I looked at her as she sat in front of me.

"I've always been loving her for the past 13 years ahjumma." I said as I looked down on my jajangmyeon.

"Why did you two break up anyways? When you both used to come here, I was certain that you might marry each other because I can clearly see in your eyes that you love each other." I smiled at what she said. That's what was supposed to happen if I wasn't a coward.

"I was certain that I'll marry her too ahjumma. But I left her. I'm stupid aren't I?" I said to her and I earned a smack in the head from her.

"Yes, you're stupid! Why did you do that?" I chuckled at her, she's funny without even trying. "Eyy! Don't laugh at me."

"I'm sorry ahjumma." I giggled and apologized to her.

"It doesn't matter anymore Jeongyeon. If you still love her, fight for her!" She cheered me up as I ate my jajangmyeon.

"But ahjumma, you saw her right? She has a boyfriend now." I told her and she was clearly unsatisfied with my reason.

"So what?! It's not like it's her husband. She's not tied yet so pull her over to you and tie yourselves with each other. Be the one who will marry her! Win her back, do not lose her to that guy!" I smiled at her, she's right, she's definitely right.

She stood up and go to the kitchen and came back with another bowl of jajangmyeon.

"This one is for free, enjoy the jajangmyeon now. Because I don't want you to come back here without Nayeon." My eyes widened over what she said.

"Ahjumma! That's unfair, what if I never win her back?" I complained to her and she smacked me in the head once again.

"That's why you need to win her back! No Nayeon, No jajangmyeon! Remember that!" She said and turned her back at me. I should just make this jajangmyeon a motivation and a price to win Nayeon back.

Let's go jajangmyeon!
