Geeks and More Geeks
▬ Third Person- No one’s P.O.V ▬
“Remind me why the hell we parked the freight-liner three miles back,”
Glenn was really beginning to regret taking Merle along with them, Electra too. She had been trying to ignore his grumbles but it was proving to hard, she absolutely despised him and she wasn’t the only one. He was trying T-Dog’s, Jacqui’s, Andrea’s and Morales’ patience too.
“Can’t risk the noise of the engine leading any geeks to us,” Glenn stated, leading the group through the empty streets of Atlanta. Electra looked down, she hated hearing people call them geeks.
“Looks geek free to me,” Merle snorted, his shot gun resting on his right shoulder as his other hand was stuck into his pocket.
“Can you just shut up?” Electra stopped and turned around to look at Merle. “And can you stop calling them geeks, it’s degrading and disrespectful. They were all people, just like we were,” Electra stated causing silence among everyone as she turned back around.
“Why the hell is there a tank over there?” Andre asked with a raised eyebrow, her eyes glued to a tank which was placed in the middle of the empty street.
“God knows,” Jacqui stated shaking her head.
“Where are we headed?”
“That store over there. There’s all types of supplied and stuff over ther-” Glenn pointed in the direction of a tall building in the distance before being cut off.
“Oh shit,”
Everyone stopped dead in their tracks and turned back around to look at Jacqui who had said the words and who was currently staring helplessly to the right. Everyone turned their heads to follow her gaze before either resulting to cursing or gasping in shock.
Walkers.
A hoard of them.
At least twenty or thirty of them.
Heading towards them.
Pounding on a rather weak looking fence.
“Holy crap!” Glenn exclaimed. “I’ve never seen so many off them out there in one place before,” Glenn stammered as the fence grew weaker and weaker. “Do you think that fence is going to hold?” Merle and Andrea raised their guns to shoot at them.
“No,” Electra forced Merle’s gun downwards so that he was aiming at the floor rather than the walkers causing Andrea to lower her gun. “Are you crazy? Do you want to bring more down on us? God knows how many other walkers there are out there,” she hissed.
“What are we going to do?” Andrea asked panicked. “Cause I am sure as hell that that fence is not going to hold up for much longer,” she stated. “Come on lets go to that supplied store there,”
“We won’t have enough time to make it,” Electra stated stopping Andrea in her tracks causing her to look over to the fence which was nearly down.
“Well we’re open for any suggestions, sweet cheeks,” Merle shot at Electra causing Electra to look around at their options.
“That department store,” Electra said all of a sudden causing everyone to look in its direction. “Come on, we aint got all day!” Electra hollered causing everyone to sprint in its direction rather than just look in it before slamming straight into the glass doors. Quickly, she began to pull at the handles but they weren’t budging anytime soon.
“God dammit,” Glenn stated. “It would have been too freakin’ easy wouldn’t it?” he said beginning to pace whilst running his hands through his hair.
“Can’t we break it?” Morales suggested.
“Too much noise,”
“There has gotta be another way in,” Glenn, who was still pacing back and forth stated. “There has gotta be,” he muttered causing Electra to take two bobby pins out of her hair causing it to fall down her back.
“And now you chose to style your hair,” Merle grumbled. “Why the hell are you styling your hair? Get your priorities right!” Merle shouted aggressively.
“Mind keeping your voice down?” Electra asked as she crouched down and began to pick the lock for the door or attempted to at least. “I need to concentrate,”
“We ain’t got the time Electra,” T-Dog stated causing Electra to look up at him about to rebuke him before seeing that the gate had fallen and that the walkers were coming towards them.
“Here!”
Electra turned her head away from T-Dog to see Jacqui standing a few yards away from her looking out at something. Electra abandoned the door and ran to her, looking around the corner as she was.
“Holy crap,”
“There’s that ladder,” Jacqui pointed to the small ladder which was connected to the department store building. “We could get up to the roof, it’s gotta be safe up there,”
“I knew there was a reason I liked you,” Electra smiled at Jacqui in delight before turning to the others who were still huddled around the door. “Guys, we have a way in,” Electra called causing them all to sprint to her before she sprinted the ladder and gestured to it.
“Do you think they can climb?” Morales questioned them all unsurely, pointing out a little flaw in Electra’s and Jacqui’s plan.
“Don’t know, don’t care,” Andrea commented looking up the ladder. “And I don’t plan to stick around long enough to check,”
Andrea jumped on the ladder first and began to climb up before shortly followed by Jacqui and then Morales. T-Dog went to climb on up but Electra lay and hand on him to stop her.
“Wait,”
“What?”
“Too much wait on that ladder and it will break,” Glenn spoke Electra’s exact thoughts. “Then us lot would be screwed,” Glenn stated.
“I think we’re pretty screwed already man,” T-Dog said jerking his head in the direction of the moaning walkers who were coming around the other corner of the building.
“Dammit,” Electra muttered under her breath looking around anxiously. Guys, please. Please, please, please hurry up. Please. Electra thought.
“Yohoo! You guys up there! Take your time, don’t worry about us! It’s not like there are-” Merle shouted up at them before earning a glare off of Electra.
“Shut the hell up, you dumb ass!” Electra hissed at Merle, cutting him off in mid-sentence. “Oh shit, oh shit,” Electra panicked looking over at the walkers again.
“They’re up,” T-Dog commented looking back to Electra and Glenn, ignoring Merle completely. “Come on guys,” T-Dog went to go up the ladder before being stopped by Glenn again. “What now?”
“Not you, Electra first,” he stated. “She’s a woman man, don’t you know anything?” Glenn questioned T-Dog causing T-Dog to go back.
“Just because I’m a woman doesn’t mean I need you guys to put me first,” Electra rolled her eyes at Glenn before seeing how close the hoard was. “But on this occasion, I’ll take it,” Electra stated allowing T-Dog to lift her up onto the ladder before going to climb it himself.
“Na-ah, I don’t think so,” Merle snorted stopping him and practically pushing T-Dog off of the ladder before hopping on himself. Rolling his eyes T-Dog got on and Glenn after him. “Mmmmm….” Merle looked up at Electra’s ass as she climbed up the ladder in front of him.
“Enjoying yourself down there, Dixon?” Electra asked working on climbing up as fast as she could worrying about whoever was last on the ladder.
“Uh-huh, immensely- the view especially,” Merle stated.
“You are a class ass you know that Dixon?” Electra was referring to his previous comment and how he had forced T-Dog off of the ladder so he could get on first.
“Yeah, I know,” Merle grinned. “And you got a nice ass there sweet cheeks,” he commented licking his lips as he looked at it yet again.
“Get down. You are one disgusting, dirty old man,”
“ Why don’t you give me a few hours of your time and we can get down together, I’ll show you exactly how disgusting and dirty I can get, sweet cheeks,”
“Pfft,”
“Listen,” Glenn snapped at them from behind T-Dog. “You can fight later when we are safe on the roof top but for now just concentrate on climbing faster,”
“Sure thing,” Merle agreed as Electra began to climb faster causing Electra to involuntary raise an eyebrow despite not being able to see him. “If by fighting you mean straddling,” Merle smirked to himself.
“Screw. You. Dixon.”
“Naw, maybe you could instead?”
“Guys!”
“Believe me Glenn, I am climbing as fast as I can,”
Electra continued to climb for what seemed like hours to her but in reality was only a matter of minutes before finally reaching the top to be pulled up by Morales. She panted, throwing her back pack down to the floor before joining Jacqui and Andrea. A few minutes later the survivors and re-grouped.
“Can’t we just bust through with these tools Dale gave us?” Jacqui asked dropping the tools in the centre as Electra was picking the lock.
“Pffft,” Electra grinned. “Why would we need too….?” Electra asked standing up and whipping sweat off of her forehead. “When the doors already opened?” she said pushing it open with a smug look on her face.
“I freaking love you,”
“Right back at ya,” Electra winked at Glenn before laughing as Jacqui and Andrea came over to her….Jacqui patting her on the back. “You guys, going in or not?” Electra asked causing Morales, T-Dog, Jacqui, Andrea and Glenn to walk past her down the stairs.
“Yes?”
“Laddies first,” Merle said looking at Electra for a brief second before putting his hand on the door that she was leaning on in order to hold it open for the others and him. Electra looked at him suspiciously before turning away and walking down the flight of stairs stopping at the first floor.
“Guys……?” Electra peered her head through the door searching for the others but saw no one. “Hello….? Guys….?” Electra asked.
Where are they? Electra thought to herself moving further onto the floor. They had to be, she hadn’t seen them on any of the floors. Hello? She thought before two guys wearing riot gear sprang out in front of her causing her to jump and reach for her gun.
“It’s us!”
“Don’t shoot!”
The two men wearing the riot gear removed their helmets revealing that they were in fact T-Dog and Morales. Growling, Electra tucked her gun into the back of her jeans.
“You should know by now not to jump out at me like that,” Electra stated glaring at the men causing T-Dog to put his hands up in the air.
“Sorry, didn’t mean too,”
“Where the hell did you even get that shit from?” Merle asked finally walking down through the doorway to join the rest of them.
“Here,” Morales answered him. “Don’t know why the hell they would have them but apparently they do, so in my eyes it’s for the taking now,” Morales threw Electra his helmet.
“I suppose so,” Electra shrugged inspecting the helmet, still trying to work out why they would sell riot gear in a store like this. “Where are the others?”
“The girls are on the second floor,” Glenn popped out of one of the ails to answer Electra’s question. “Something about not shopping in months,” Glenn trailed off causing a smirk to appear on Electra’s lips. “Oh yeah, we found these,” Electra threw Morales back his helmet and caught what Glenn chucked at her.
“Walkies?”
“Walkies,”
“Alright,” Electra smiled in delight. “So we can keep in touch with each other in case we need to separate at any point,” Electra stated.
“Would also be helpful in camp. I mean all we got is a radio which only picks up white noise,” _____________________________________________________________________________Authors NoteHey guys, This chapter was kinda of a short chapter which is kinda pointless. But it needed to be done.
