Walkie talkies are going nuts, fazwatches are beeping, and people are thankfully leaving the premises on account of closing time. Which, may or may not have been announced as an early close for tonight- - coincidentally.

ย  That damn gator.

Liz inwardly groans as her walkie buzzed in the back of her pocket. Was it .. bad, that she felt a tinge of excitement, though? Getting to see Monty was her favorite part of the day, while working at the pizzaplex.

She was the only one to be able to calm him down- - she was the only person he actually liked. And she was the only living human being, that she was aware of, that had a fucking crush on an animatronic. Well- - Liz was well aware that something weird was going on with Y/N and the daycare attendant, too, and it was starting to feel similar to her own situation.

Which is why she was racing up the stairs, pushing passed exiting people, and looking at the confusion on her coworker's faces as she ran out of breath up to the gator golf station.

Passing the Fazer Blast area, Liz's eyes dart around the walkway, looking for any type of struggle or problem ahead. So far, there was none. Green neon lights illuminated the room as Gator Golf quickly came into her view. Curious eyes trace the room, and she shoves a lock of auburn-orange hair behind her ear.

'Monty, where are you . .' Her brows knit together. It didn't take long for her to hear a loud bang, and a few groans of a struggle beneath her feet. Below the catwalk she stood on, Monty was tossing things in the golfing hole area. Mostly looked like he was chucking things out of his way. Typical.

Sure, it could still be a little nerve wracking to see him up close being that riled up; But, she knew him better than anybody. And that counted for something.

ย  Her tanned hands grip the railing of the ramp as she made her way down, hopping over a few false mossy tree stumps, and avoiding any golf holes in the process of trotting her way up to Monty.

Waiting for him to settle his rage before getting too involved was the best option, she knew from past experiences. Otherwise, it just resulted in an unsteady argument and things just got more complicated from there.

Thankfully, his rage was coming to an end, and Liz felt like she was in a better position to talk to him now.

Careful, cautious steps, Liz catches his eyes, and offers a concerned smile in turn to his anger. "Hey, what's wrong?" She asks.

Monty only huffs in reply. She noticed his clenched fist by his side, to which she only tried to ignore by getting a few steps closer to him. Monty's eyes watch her in a sharp motion, like a prey and he was the hunter. His eyes reminded her more of a hawk's right now- - the way he didn't even have to say anything to let someone know, one more step closer, and it was going to be a bad idea.

"Why are you here?" His voice was boiling with fury. And even as an animatronic, it sounded like he was talking behind grinding teeth.

Liz furrowed her brows, letting out a little scoff in reply to that. "Geez, try not to sound too excited to see me." Damn, yeah. She was the only one bold enough to talk like that to him.

Monty was frozen in rage. His brow lifted ever so slightly while in his stance of stiffness. Was she serious? Liz noticed his eyes darting around her features for a moment. She was serious.

"I heard something got broken . . Wanna talk about it?" She delicately steps one more foot closer, a hand lingering at her side, ready to reach out and tap his arm, but she didn't yet. Monty sighs heavily, shaking his head, and turning away with slight confusion twisting into the metal of his face. "No." His eyes then travel up to the catwalks, where two other coworkers stood, cautiously awaiting for something bad to happen, so that they could call it in on the walkies. After a moment, they left nervously.

Liz mentally rolled her eyes at that, knowing just how much they really seemed to care. That's why she was alone on the floor.

"Okay." She shrugs, looking at the tipped over arcade game. There was a good sized fist mark in the side of the machine. "Can I clean up your area, then?" She asks instead, eyes gazing over to the game.

Monty furrows his brows at her, letting out a little scoff. "You can't pick that up by yourself." He growls.

Very scary. Totally sarcastic.

Liz snorts back, and makes her way over to the machine. She's dealt with them before! Just not totally by herself. "Yeah I can," her voice was a bit defensive.

Her hands grip the edge from the floor, and with the muscles in her arms and back, she pulls it up, with much difficulty. It barely budged. She pulled harder, until it made it about an inch off the floor.

Okay, so this was a lot heavier than when you're with two people on the other side helping.

"Damn, what the fuc-" she puffs out her cheeks, and struggles for a moment, getting the one side to lift more up and off the ground โ€” only for her to slip her grip, and the machine falls back down again. Liz groans.

Monty musters up a smirk, shaking his head now after watching the sad display. With heavy steps, the gator gets on the other side of the machine, and nods his head to her. "Really?" He asks. It was sarcasm. He was totally being a dick right now, and Liz absolutely loved it.

She keeps her smirk hidden as she flashes her eyes up at him playfully. "Okay, maybe I can't."

Monty grabs the side, and lifts it back up to its rightful position, with just one quick movement. Leaving Liz with slight embarrassment at the sight.

She wasn't made of metal, of course he could do that much easier than her!

The redhead rolls her eyes at him with a knowing smile. "Show off."

"I think you've got it backwards, girl." Monty snorts.

She smiles back knowingly, and inspects the machine with a small walk around it. "You did some pretty nasty damage to this bad boy!" she looks back at Monty now, "Did'chya do that on purpose? Because you just know how much I love fixing these."

"Somethin' like that." His arms cross, looking down at her. Monty was a good couple heads taller than her in perspective. Liz couldn't help but bite the inside of her bottom lip, just thinking about it.

"Ah. Yeah, I figured." She smirks, looking away to dust off some of the debris from the arcade game screen. It had a crack in it, and the sides were all bashed in. Probably no fixing it at this point.

"Man, I'm gonna be hearing about this machine for weeks now. Thanks allot for breaking it." Liz huffs. Her position from only working in the dining area was quickly moved to the upper floor assistant manger. She mostly did all of the running around, picking up things, and called in any broken machines in the area she was working at for the day. Liz still kept dining shifts, but they were starting to become less frequent now.

She honestly missed just doing that, though.

"Anything for you, sugar." Monty winks at her from under his shades. She rolls her eyes at him with another smile stretching across her face. She knew he probably knew what he was doing to her, and that was why he kept up with the teasing and such.

The girl looks down to the dirty floor, and kicks her toe into one of the broken plastic tree stumps to avoid his gaze. With a careful selection to tone, she glances up at Monty. "I have a date tonight." She says.

Monty scoffs out air from his nostrils, but she couldn't tell if it was a chuckle or a growl. "Huh . ." He snorts. "You found someone else who can put up with you?"

Liz was honestly a bit relieved he didn't lash out when finding that bit of info out from her personal life.

"I know right, it's really weird." She forced up a smile to him, catching his gaze. "He's cool . . But, I dunno." Her shoulders bounce up in a shrug, and Monty soon realizes her demeanor changing. He may have been an animatronic, but he sure as hell wasn't stupid.

"So what's wrong with the runt?" He asks, bluntly. Liz liked that about Monty the most.

"I don't know . . I'm just not really that into him, I guess." That was because she kept holding off, hoping that one day she'd actually be able to make her fantasy of being with Monty, come true. She actually really liked, and only wanted him. But admitting that out loud, even to herself, was something she just wasn't ready to settle with yet.

ย

"Then ditch the guy." He huffs. "What's so hard about that?"

She felt a little embarrassed. Though, she was always really open to Monty; it wasn't out of the norm for her to overshare her experiences, with anyone for that matter. Liz talked to him about literally anything and everything.

"You don't get it." She scoffs down at the floor. "It's not that easy to do in the human world," The red headed girl looks back up to him, hoping to understand.

"Bullshit." He rolls his eyes. "You turn down people that come in here all the time." Monty, with his arms crossed firmly, tilted his head slightly at her.

She rolls her eyes, trying a more relaxed stance. "Yeah, because I never have to see them again."

He waves his hand off at her and turns away. She catches his eye roll and finds herself dulling her own vision now. "Why are you all bitchy today with my life choices?" She interrogated, taking a small step closer.

"Because I'm irritated." His voice growls in a low rumble, causing Liz to widen her eyes. She purses her lips for a moment and turns away with a little sigh. "Fine, I'll just go talk to Bonnie then."

With that, she turns on her heel, and begins her walk out of Gator Golf. Monty snaps his head in her direction, and huffs under his breath.

ย

ย  Liz made her way down the hall in the Superstar Daycare, a bit of a sulky expression on her face. That guy ended up being for sure something disappointing. A hookup might not have been the best idea anyway, but she's learning lessons as life goes on. How would she know that the guy had other hoes on his phone?

Her hand knocks on the daycare's big wooden doors. It was still a bit busy, as last minute parents hadn't come to pick up their kids yet. Liz made a crooked frown, stepping aside to cup her hands to the windows around her eyes, searching for Y/N through the glass.

Too many things blocking the view. Liz groans, and eventually walks back to the comically large doors, and steps inside. A couple kids were excitedly screaming, running in circles around the daycare, chasing each other. Sun was frantic, practically holding down his annoyances with a pencil threatening to snap in his hand.

Liz felt the corner of her lips curl upward with amusement at the sight. "Hey, Sun, is y/n here?" She calls out. Sun's body flinches slightly, head turning towards Liz to see her standing there with a funky aura surrounding her.

"Nope! Left about an hour ago." He says, taking a hesitant stride over to her. His head turns back for a moment to spot the running kids, and tries to focus on two tasks at once; Talking to Liz, and carefully keeping an eye on the kiddos. He had his hands full today.

"Oh. I tried texting her earlier, but I guess she's busy." Liz sighs out, a little bit disappointed.

Sun tilts his head a bit in question. "Everything okay?" He asks, raising a hand, and knocking on her head lightly. "You don't seem like your normal lizzy self today."

"Bonnie's busy. I was gonna talk to him about it- - I don't wanna bother you when you're working." She brushes it off, and takes a small step away. "I'm fine."

Sun knew her smile wasn't convincing enough to allow her leave, so he shakes his head, crossing his arms. "No, uh-uh. What's going on in that brain of yours?"

Liz falters for a moment. It wasn't like her to get all emotional about something like this, but it felt like it was weighing so heavily down in her chest today.

"Actuallyโ€”" She hesitates, cringing inwardly. "Can I talk to you about something?"

Sun hums, taking another glance over at the kids. One of them was sticking their fingers up their nose. "Hey!" Sun snaps, pointing a finger. "Your fingers don't belong in there!"

Liz almost thought it was comical; how odd it was that the ex-theater bot was now a daycare attendant. In all her days of working here, who would've thought that would happen?

"Yesโ€”" Sun turns back down to Liz, a slight irritant in his tone. Seems like everybody was on edge in this place, lately. "I'm sorry, but you might have to make it snappy." He sighs out through his voice box.

She nods, looking down awkwardly. Why was this so hard? Liz talked to her mother about her love life problems, easily. But this was different.

"Okay, so, I . ." She faltered for a moment, earning more of Sun's impatience. "I hooked up with a guy I kinda liked last night, and apparently he's talking to other girls," she spits it out quickly, trying her best not to feel more judged under the Sun's restive stare.

"But like- - I don't know, I really like someone else right now. I just can't do anything about it, because the situation is really weird." She explains, a bit of an anxious expression costing her usual confident stride to flee.

"Ooohkay." Sun rolls his shoulders and sighs out in understanding. "I'm not a vent bot, but I think I see the problem here!" His fingers snap, and Liz gives a curious look in turn. "What?" She questions, brows scrunching together.

"You wanted that person to be the one you actually liked." Sun says, a knowing tone to his voice. "Of course you're upset. You got used, and lied to."

Liz stood still, taking in the information. He was right. She was really trying to make other people work. But it just wasn't happening.

"So, what do I do?" She asks, hopeful of another good answer. Sun tilts his head to the side, "Well! Simple solution, really!"

Liz waits, watching and hoping for something; anything.

Sun leans down, and pokes her on the head with the pencil. "Cut him off. Go to the one you actually like! It's obvious you were only looking for a distraction for your emotions."

Damn. He was hella right, and it kind of hurt to hear. Liz purses her lips together tightly, puffing out her cheeks. Sun chuckles, shaking his head. "You humans make things so complex for no reason." The tone of his voice sounded like an underlying annoyance, as if he dealt with someone before that causes him problems.

ย  "Because we have deeper emotions." She rolls her eyes. "But yeah, I guess you're right. But I still have the problem of not being able to be with the one I want, though." She huffs, tucking a lock of hair behind her ear.

"Don't we all." his tone was again, hinting at annoyance to his own problems.

ย  Jason looks up at Liz, eyes dull and a crooked frown on his face, as his friend sat across from him. The diner wasn't as lively as usual, but that was okay. Liz sat there, picking at her food beside y/n.

"What's wrong with you today?" Jason abruptly asks, earning Y/N's attention, soon along with Liz's.

She shrugs, picking around her plate, finally choosing a bite of her strawberry parfait. "Nothing, I'm fine."

Jason frowned, throwing his crumpled up straw wrapper at her cheek. She glares, looking up at him from across the table.

"Locker, don't lie to me."

"You can tell us if something's wrong," y/n says, glancing gently over at Liz with a soft look.

Liz sighs heavily. "Alright, alright. You know how the animatronics have been kinda . . Off, lately?" She asks, leaning into the table a bit. The questions grabs both y/n, and Jason's attention.

Jason nods, furrowing a brow. "Yeah. Chica's been going nuts at night, and same with the clown upstairs."

Y/N frowns at him a bit, trying to brush off the comment. "Jester." She corrects him with a smirk.

He waves a hand. "Whatever. Same thing, isn't it?"

"Guys," Liz rolls her eyes at the both of them. "Monty's starting to act up now, too. I heard he trashed his room last night during the night guards late shift."

"So what," the male frowns, scoffing a little, "he's always breaking shit. And, makes me clean it up for him all the time." Jason crosses his arms.

Liz didn't care about that stuff. There was something wrong with these animatronics lately. Whatever it was, something wasn't right, and she wanted to make sure that Monty was going to be okay. "Nah. We're missing something. Chica wouldn't just flip out on her guests! It's Chica! All the girl does is shove pizza down her beak." Liz sighs out. "She wouldn't hurt anybody . ."

"I've seen Roxy start to act up a bit too, now that you say that," Jason says, brows furrowing.

"Sun's been kinda odd with me turning off the lights. I guess Moon has some sort of system virus?" Y/N adds on, a look of confusion twisted up into her features. "I dunno. Moon's been acting really weird. Weirder than what I remember."

"He's been the worst out of all of them for weeks." Jason frowns at Y/N. "Just before you started, Moon's been glitching all over the place. Sun never wants the lights off anymore, ever since the theater."

Liz didn't know what to think. All she knew was that she wanted her boys to be safe. And come to think of it- - she hasn't seen Bonnie in a while . . Hm.

"I dunno, guys. Just keep an eye out, I guess, for anything else weird. I'll talk to Vanessa about it whenever I see her again." Liz says, leaning her cheek into the palm of her hand.

_______________

ย  The room was dark and quiet. Liz laid comfortably in her bed, eyes forcing themselves open to stare at her phone screen. Just scrolling aimlessly, waiting around for any excitement to pop up on her screen. Nothing but overly edited girls in vacation outfits showed on her social feed, and that's when she was done with looking at her phone for the night. A buzz came from the bedside table, a small ding from her Fazwatch.

She frowned, reaching over with a slight struggle in her stretch, as she grabbed the watch and sighs, hoping it wasn't another alert from any coworkers.

Surprisingly enough, Monty's name popped up. Liz smiles warmly to herself as she reads the screen.

FROM: Monty

โ€” Sorry about earlier. Haven't felt like myself lately. Hope you're not mad, mudpie.

Liz hums to herself with a sense of relief. He'd snapped on her earlier in the work shift, and honestly, it kind of got to her a bit. They argued, went at it pretty good, before Liz decided to walk out of her shift tearing up with anger. Things were weighing in on her enough lately, and that one snap was enough to make her break.

All because she vented to him about the hookup that happened between her and that guy. Blake turned out being an asshole; Okay, she gets it. Her judgement with reading the bad boys is terrible, and always has been. But mostly, that's because she never really cared about who she ended up with; as long as it was a distraction.

ย  FROM: Liz Locker TO: Monty

โ€” its fine dw i hope everything's okay w you tho <3

you'd tell me if it wasn't right ?

ย

ย  Maybe she was sucking up to him too much. The redhead turned on her side, staring at the watching, just waiting for a reply. The sounds of ambulances pass by her apartment from out the window. Not much other sound or thing came to her attention, eyes just locked to the employee communicator.

When nothing came through the messaging system, she nods as if confirming her thoughts about the situation. He wasn't going to open up to her about it.

With a soft frown on her face, she sighs to herself. Everything just felt so heavy right now.

The morning would probably be better.ย

ย

Buzz buzz.

Buzz buzz.

Liz groans out of sleep as the sound of her phone wakes her out of a deep dream state. Brown eyes adjust to the screen, and she instantly feels anxiety creeping up. It was work calling.

She grabs the phone and answers the call, holding it up to her pierced ear. "Hello?" Her throat clears out the morning voice that lingered.

"Hey Liz. It's Adam,"

Liz knew that wasn't as good person to be getting a call from. "Oh, hey, what's up?"

"I'm sorry to call you so early in the morning, I know it's like, six right now, and I'm really sorry to have to tell you this way, but . . There's been a fire at the pizza Plex last night. We won't be needing you for a while. The whole place is crumbled in."

Her tired eyes widen, body pauses. There's a rush of anxiety that wavered through her veins for a moment. "Wโ€” What?"

"I know. It's crazy! I don't know what happened. I was told that y/n was found at the scene with a little boy, and our night guard. They were both working the overnight shifts. Said they don't know what happened, but it's all a mess right now." With urgency, Elizabeth immediately sat up, taking her heavy comforter off of her to try and take in some air. "Is y/n okay?" "A little banged up. But she's in recovery now . . I have no idea where the boy came from. I haven't really talked to her much yet. I'll find out more stuff soon." "What aboutโ€” are the animatronics down?" Liz frowns, mind anxiously running from corner to corner without a single bit of rationality coming to light. "I'd imagine they broke down? I don't know yet. I gotta get a whole crew out there to look for them. There's a lot going on right now, I can't even try to think, without someone else calling my phone up." He says. Shit. Liz holds her head in a hand, running her fingers through her locks of hair. Nausea fills her stomach as she holds back a shaking sob. "So I'm out of a job . . Aren't I?" "Yesโ€” I'm really sorry. We all kind of are, right now."

There goes everything. Her job, her life, friends, family. What about paying rent? What about her pet's food?

How is she gonna buy gas for her car? Insurance payments? The room spins for a moment, and she holds in a deep breath.

"Liz?" Adam brings her thoughts to a temporary halt, and she blinks.

"Yeahโ€” sorry." "I'll give you a call if we find anything for you. For now, you can get on unemployment. And as far as working with us goes.. you're always welcome back whenever we're up and running again." At least he was sympathizing with her.

Adam wasn't a bad guy, and he always seemed to have his hands full. She appreciated the phone call from him in general. "Thank you." She snivels her nose. ย

ย ย  ย  ย  After a few weeks of searching around, long crying sessions on the phone to her mom, hair dye, and days with her dad going out for lunch to keep her mind busy, life finally started to look just a little bit brighter. She finally got a call back to a bakery location that wanted her to work! The first day was easy, and fun. Alexis seemed like a really chill boss. Learning that Alexis was the owner of the little location, it seemed like a lot more.. empty? Than compared to her four years of work at the mega pizza plex, filled with hundred of people every day. Now she was crammed inside a small square building, with one other woman. It was fineโ€” Jason came to visit her, Y/N bought little treats here and there for newly added family member Gregory, and business was steady. Maybe this was what she wanted to do in life. It still seemed a little unfair that Y/N got to keep Sun, but there was no hope for Monty being found and repaired. It stung a little, but days went on, and things just easier. More boring, more dull. But easier. All until one day. A year later, things changed, time passed. Friends moved away, and a boyfriend came and went. But now; the phone call she'd been secretly hoping and wishing for, finally happened. It was back. The Pizza Plex was up and running again- - with the animatronics inside, reprogrammed and repaired.

And man oh freaking man, did she NEED to go.

Y/N was quick to jump on board the idea of going, and so they went. And of course, Liz went back. Again. And again. And again. ย  When she stood inside the building, a soft smile stretched from ear to ear. Her staff shirt fit just like it used to, if not better, and the path she took up to Gator Golf felt familiar. Her smile was bright and beaming. The cramped bakery was no longer a part of her day to day routine, confining her, but instead, running kids, screaming toddlers, and loud arcade games, which spread from mile to mile.

"Hell-ooohh~" she calls out into the empty room. The golf course was closed early for the evening, which was the one time Liz had the time to see her favorite gator. "Yo! Monty?" Her brows furrow as takes a look around, turning on her heel. Where the hell was he? Something large and cold snatched her from behind, causing a sharp gasp of anxiety to escape the girl's lips. "Hey, sugar." Two big green arms wrap around her shoulders, lifting and spinning her small figure until Monty could get a laugh out of her. "Oh my god! You ass," she smirks, elbowing him in the chest from behind her. Monty laughs, squeezing her tight. Liz giggles, kicking her feet off the ground. "Let me down!" "Imma need something in return, then." His smirk flashes down at her. She looks up, a pouty look on her face. "I don't have anything." "C'mon now, girl." He taunts her, knowingly. "Fine." Liz's face flushes with embarrassment as she cranes her neck to look up at him, still trapped in his arms. She puffs out her lips, making a small kissy face to him. The gator accepts it, and leans forward so that she could press a kiss to his snout. ย  "I didn't think I could miss someone so much." He looks away with embarrassment as he sets Liz down to her feet. She smirks up at him. "I'm pretty hard to forget."
