MOON'S SEEMINGLY LIFELESS body sat in front of me on the workbench. He was still, body falling slightly forward off of the bench, head tilted downward, along with his nightcap that covered a bit of his face. My fingers traced over his shoulder, gently, eyes fixating on the exposed wiring on his neck, and back of his faceplate.
I'm not an expert, but I needed to try to fix whatever the hell was bugging him out so badly. A few of the techs helped me run a few practice tests on Chica last night, in hopes to help me out with tonight's big job. She had been getting really aggressive too. Things around here were starting to freak me out. It feels like dejavu all over again, with whatever happened in the past pizzeria places.
Work laptop beside me, it ran an antivirus program, as I got ready to plug it into Moon's body.
A part of me felt really anxious. If something goes wrong, I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to do about it. I guess I just use the best of my knowledge, and try to beat this thing.
I couldn't help but freeze, just tracing his features over with my eyes. It was odd seeing Moon so quiet. His system was supposedly off, but it was just a weird feeling being around him. He was so different with me than Sun was. Moon knew how to piss me off, but also knew just what to say when I needed to hear it.
"Don't worry, guys. I'm gonna try and get to the bottom of all this bullshit." I tell him softly.
I plug him into the computer, and already, a few red messages had popped up. After a few minuets of clearing out his few minor viruses, another one came onto screen. It was colored in purple.
Something I've never seen before.
It looked nasty. Apparently, the glitch was eating out all his system's coordinated wiring. It split Sun and Moon right down the middle. Sun wasn't effected by it . . but Moon's system definitely was.
I frown softly, desperately trying to clear it. I type in codes, anti-virus, blockers, anything that I could. It wasn't doing much, though. I wonder if that's what was affecting Chica and the others so bad . .
A few complaints were starting on Roxanne and Monty now, too. They've started becoming a little territorial at night, and to some of the children, even harmful.
Freddy still seemed to be in top shape, but it was only a matter of time, for something else bad to happen. And I didn't want to wait around for it. I won't let history repeat itself.
After a while of trying to delete the virus, and running a few more cleaners on Moon, I came to the conclusion that whatever I was doing, just wasn't letting up. I decided to give it up for a bit, letting out a heavy sigh. Nothing is working.
It was starting to get late, and my shift was almost over with, anyway. I bite my nail anxiously, looking between Moon, and the laptop. After a few more minuets if internally fighting with myself, I decide to give up for the night.
Unplugging Moon from the laptop, I hear a slight jingle in the bells on his wrists.
I furrow a brow, then see bright red eyes sinking into my skull. Moon starts to chuckle, slowly lifting his head up to view me down below. "Well, well . . Who do we have here?"
Letting out a soft yelp, my eyes widen. "Moon! What are you doing awake?"
His head tilts in a bone chilling matter. The large grin was still spread across his face. "Trying to shut me down, are you?" He growls.
I shake my head. "No way."
He narrows his eyes onto me, taking hold of my wrists. He drags me close to him, as I now jerk forward, standing between his knees. I glance down, then up to his face, sheepishly. "I was just trying to clear out your viruses. Apparently, something is eating at your system."
He glares slightly, faceplate spinning a little. "Are you lying to me again, Y/N?" I frown, tugging my wrist back. His grip was too tight though. "Naughty children get punished . ." His voice growls.
I'm definitely not a child, but alright.
He sounded like he was getting set back into default mode. A much . . darker, default mode.
"I'm not lying! Look at the laptop," I speak desperately, nudging my elbow towards it. "See?"
My heart was beating out of my chest. Whatever the fuck that virus was, it was bad. It controlled his system, just like the others.
"All I'm looking at, is a rule breaker." He yanks me down to his mouth's level, and growls into my ear.
"Let go of me," I glare up at him. "Now."
"You're not going anywhere." The way his gravely voice spoke, sent more chills down my spine. "Your mouth is too pretty to be lying. Why won't you just tell me the truth?"
Why was this happening to him? Why now?
"Sun!" I yell. I know Sun couldn't do much, but maybe there was a way he could try and flip back. I was really doubting it at this point, though.
"I've heard all the things you've been saying about me, to Sun. And the others . ."
My eyes widen.
Moon pinned me to the floor in one, quick, swift movement, now hovering over me. My back hits the floor, a slight breath of air escaping my chest. I'm trapped underneath him. A dark chuckle escapes him, as his bright, red eyes, burn into me. It temporarily blinds my vision. His hand raises, and pounds harshly on the floor beside my head, in attempt to scare me. It worked. I flinched.
"Moon, I'm sorryโ but you don't have to do this,"
I can't panic. I have to try to find a way out of this mess.
As my breathing quickens, my eyes search around the room desperately for something, anything, that I can use. There was a baseball sitting on the floor beside me. I scan the area quickly, and see if there was anything I could hit it with to distract him.
Then it hit me.
The block towers.
"This will be over with before you know it, starlight~" Moon snickers, as he takes a hand and holds my jaw with it. I'm forced to stare up into his blinding eyes. I struggle out of his grasp, but he was too heavy, and too strong.
His grip tightens, causing an aching pain to rise in my jaw.
"Stop hurting me, I didn't do anything to you." Tears slip down my cheek. My free hand reaches for the ball, and I desperately grip onto it. His head tilts, sounding a clicking mechanical noise. "I'll try to make things less painful for you." He leans down to my face."Gooood night~" His hand lowers from my face, and grips around my neck.I freeze. Tensing will only make things worse, so I have to stay calm. Even if I'm literally trying to be murdered by an AI unit.
I focus on the baseball in hand, and shift my shoulders to throw it. It has enough momentum to fly, and it hits something. It doesn't hit the tower, but it hits a scatter of toys on the floor, causing a loud noise. Moon releases his grip on my neck, as I inhale a chunk of air quickly. A few coughs let out of my chest as I try to get my oxygen back.
"Arrgh . ." He stands with a growl, before looking back down to me. "Stay here. DON'T move."
I lift my head weakly as he creeps off to find the culprit of the noise, and I intake oxygen like my life depended on it โ which it did.
As his back stays turned to me, I sprint for the door. And I make it. Just about.
He notices, and soon lunges for me. Grabbing my waist, he pulls me down with him. I reach my hand up and slap near the light switch with as much motivation as I could. I struggle for a few minuets, as Moon crushes my feet, clawing at my skin. That metallic body of his was extremely heavy.
A few more tears of anxiety rush to my eyes. What if I can't make it out? Thoughts are flooding my mind. Bad ones.
Moon was growling, ready to fully attack me. I finally reach up, stretching until I feel a muscle pull with sharp pains, and hit the switch, a feeling of reassurance soon flooding into me.
The lights turn back on, growling, hissing, and screeching come out if Moon's mouth. Sun comes back to me. His rays pop back up, and his face gives a look of horror as he stands from his position on the floor.
"Y-Y/N?"
"Stay there," I'm crying. Tears are pouring out of my eyes, as I stare up at him. Soft sobs and gasps escape my lips, as I try desperately to suppress them. My arm was bleeding, and so was my leg. I felt something stinging my jaw. My fingers trace the skin, pulling it back to find more blood from the open cracks of my skin. I frown down at my fingers, then look back up to catch Sun's reaction. He looked . . shocked. Sick? Scared?
My heart was beating out of my chest. The rush of anxiety had made my body go into an adrenaline rush. "I-I," my voice wobbles. I find myself backing away from him as he nears me. The words aren't coming to me, yet, so I cut myself off as my brain panics.
"I'm so sorry." He frowns. "I-I tried to control him, but I just couโ"
I keep my hands up in defense, my back against the wall. "Sun, I love you. But, please, just stay the fuck away from me." My voice wobbles out loudly. I push past the door, and feel his eyes sink into my back as I leave the daycare.
"Y/N, it's not us!" Sunrise sounds like he's broken. Maybe I broke him. I ignore him, and begin my painful walk down to the lobby. Fuck this job. Screw all of this place. These sick twisted fucks keep making this happen to the animatronics, I just know it.
I never should have moved up to the daycare. I never should have let them make me a technician. I should have just stayed my ass right in the dining room, away from all the animatronics, and minded my own business.
Maybe if I didn't let myself get so attached, it wouldn't have hurt so bad to leave. This was going on long enough though, and now I'm done.
I continue to suppress my cries, just sitting on the ledge of the fountain.
I'm sure Sun was losing his mind, wanting to go after me. I'm hoping he thought backing off would be for the best.
I've sat here for at least ten minuets now. Loud footsteps were nearing me. "Y/N?"
I flinch, looking up to see only Vanessa standing there. I let out a shaking sigh of relief. She frowns, turning her flashlight off of me. "Oh my god- - Are you okay?"
I sniffle, wiping my nose with my sleeve. My hands are trembling. "It's been a rough night. I-I need to clock out early."
Vanessa frowns over at my appearance, then notices my ripped sleeve and pant leg. "You're bleeding! Come on, let's get you to the first aide." Her arm wraps around my shoulders. I stand, and she brings me to the medical area. "What the hell happened to you?" She asks. Concern is lacing her voice.
I don't know if I should tell her. What if they shut Moon and Sun down for good? I may be mad, but I don't want them to be gone forever.
I decide to deal with that issue later. "I got attacked." My voice wobbles out. "Moon turned on when I unplugged him from an anti-virus test run, for some reason."
"Holy shit."
She sits me down, and grabs some bandages with antiseptic. Bringing it over to me, she begins to near my wounds. "This is going to sting a little. Hold still."
She cleans out my cuts, but I don't wince. All I can do is think about what Moon had done.
