Can We Not?

"Hey, sissy, hows the kiddos doing?" Addison asked, wrapping an arm around my waist. I patted my swollen belly then declared, "They're kicking and fighting but right now, they're calm so knock on wood for me."

She leaned over and tapped on the mahogany wood of the doorway before her eyes wondered over towards the nurses' station where Izzie and Alex stood laughing.

I hid my face in my sleeve as I walked towards Alex before I grabbed his wrist then drug him away from her.

"Can we please discuss baby names instead of you chit chatting with Izzie Stevens,the hot model doctor that you used to dream screw?" I hissed, frowning at him. He brushed his lips against my forehead then declared,"Don't be jealous, sweetheart. Walk and talk with me."

He brushed my hair out of my face then stated,"There,gorgeous. Now I can see you without a problem." I rolled my eyes at his nicknames then claimed a gurney that was placed against the wall.

"We should do another ultra sound before you guys start thinking of names." Addison suggested as she joined us beside the gurney. Alex nodded and they led my pregnant ass into an exam room where a ultrasound was waiting with my name across the top of the screen... Literally.

Alex helped me up onto the bed then raised my shirt,pressing a kiss to my skin before he backed away,allowing my sister to coat my stomach with lubricant then used the wand to swipe the gel across my belly.

"Okay, let's do a head count first." Addie suggested, glancing at the monitor. She swiped the ball over and over again and grinned at the sight of my twins wiggling around then stated,"Both of them is alive and well. Let's see if they'll reveal themselves to us."

The first one, the baby lodged beside my ribcage, turned out to be a boy and I couldn't help but beam at the news as my sister revealed to me the sex of both my babies.

"Its a boy and a girl!" she cheered, grinning at my boyfriend. He gripped my hand and kissed my knuckles before we eagerly chatted about names only to be separated and sent on our ways for our current cases of the day.

"So." Izzie started as she approached me. Her and I was stuck on the same service,which was Addison's, and she was about to try for conversation about Alex.

"So?" I mocked, turning to her. She gulped and said,"Look, Aviana, I don't know what I did to make you act like this but I want us to be friends again."

"Izzie, I'm pregnant with twins. I'm going to have mood swings. Sue me." I explained before entering the patient's room where Addison was waiting for us. She turned and glared at us, a signal that we were late, before she returned to the patient who was very pregnant.

"This is Dr. Parker-Montgomery and Dr. Stevens. They will be assisting me for your case." Addie explained,motioning a hand towards us. I waved in greeting while Izzie nodded her head.

"Girls, meet Mrs. Dorie Russell. She's giving birth to quintuplets. All girls." I smiled then scooted closer before gushing,"Oh, it must be so exciting! Five babies, all at once! "

"It truly is! How many are you expecting, sweetheart?" Dorie asked in return. I beamed back and answered,"Just two. A girl and a boy. "

"You get the best of both worlds, how wonderful. How far along  are you?"

"Eighteen weeks." I explained. We chatted and Addie gave a small laugh, shooting me a wink.

"Alright, you two. I'm going to recruit the rest of our surgeons that's aiding us." Addie informed us,motioning for Izzie and I to follow her out of the room.

"What about Miska for a girl and Nathaniel for a boy?" I suggested, nudging Alex as I approached him and Meredith. He grinned at the name then declared, "Genius! I get to pick middle names then."

"Alright, I'm okay with that." I agreed, nodding.

"Xavier and Isabelle." My face dropped at the girl's middle name and he gulped at my fierce glare before I begun to calm my anger. Miska Isabelle...

I tested the names together and smiled at the sound. I loved it.

"Yeah. That sounds great. I love it." I agreed, kissing his cheek. He raised an eyebrow then questioned,"Are you sure? We don't have to name her Isabelle." I shook my head and protested, "No, we're naming them Nathaniel Xavier and Miska Isabelle."

"Okay. If that's what you want to name our babies." Baby. my subconscious whispered.

Shut up.

When will you tell him? At the child birth? Where he sees that one of the kids are biracial?

That's enough out of you. my other subconscious decided, tackling the first. I closed my eyes and leaned against the wall as a sharp pain raced through my head. Ugh,a migraine. Great.

"Aviana, are you okay?" Alex asked, rushing towards me. I groaned and my hands flew to my head then grumbled,"Just a headache. I need medicine. "

"Alright, hang on." I wondered off in the direction where Burke and Shepherd was standing, chatting with Addie. I stumbled into Derek as my vision blurred and my brother in law caught me before I could fall on my face and Burke asked,"Hey, are you okay?  What's wrong?"

"Just, a headache." I answered, as my head pounded with ache. Derek frowned but never spoke a word while Alex rushed over and handed me a water bottle and some meds.

I watched as my sister and her husband exchanged worried glances only to have them ignore my questioning eyes.

"Dorie, this is Dr. Shepherd he's our head of neurosurgery." Addie informed Dorie as we entered the room again.

"Oh, another Dr. Shepherd." Dorie stated. Addison nodded and informed the patient that they were married, only to have Dorie reply,"Wow, everyone must hate you two. What about you, Dr. Parker - Montgomery. Do you have any relation to these two?"

"Dr. Shepherd is my brother and Dr. Montgomery - Shepherd is my sister." I answered. She nodded then replied,"God, everyone must hate you three then. I mean, you guys are gorgeous." I blushed and we thanked her before I allowed them to explain what was happening with one of the babies.

The hours of the day ticked by and I didn't see hide or hair of Alex. So, I decided to go hunting for him. In that moment,I regretted looking for him.

"Has anyone seen Dr. Karev?" I asked,glancing around as I looked for someone to nod their head. I spotted it from the nurse Christian then he warned,"I wouldn't go in there, Parker. Might send you into a fit."

I frowned then entered the on call room that he told me Alex was in only to be greeted by red hair.

"Aviana?" Alex breathed as he pushed Olivia away from him. I gave a bitter laugh as her eyes widened with horror at the sight of me before I spat,"Well, this is just peachy. "

"Avi, I can explain."  he protested as he followed me out of the on call room, with just his scrub pants on.

"Oh, tell it to the crows, Karev!" (That's a fanfic reference!!! My SoA fanfic to be exact. Tell It To The Crows, check it out!) Fury bubbled in my chest as I snapped,"You're pathetic,Alex Karev."

I stormed away and waited for Addie to give me an assignment which turned out to be a babysitting job for Dorie. I waited and watched over everyone's vitals until Dorie let out a pained groan.

"Dorie? Whats wrong?" I asked, sitting up straight. She groaned again, hands clutching at her stomach before I checked the monitor to see that she was having contractions.

"Um, I think my water broke..." she announced, groaning. I immediately paced for Addie then reached for her blanket, pulling it away from her lap to see that blood was leaking onto her bed.

"Shit, her placenta's tearing." I shouted to Addie as she, Derek, and Izzie hurried into the room.

"Okay,Dorie, we can't wait any longer the babies have to come out now!" Addison insisted before telling Izzie to page everyone on Dorie's team. We pushed her to the OR where everyone was waiting on us to arrive with Dorie.

"Dr. Karev didn't answer his page." Izzie informed Addison as she hurried over to us.

"Well find him! We need all the hands we can get!" Addie ordered. I placed over by Derek who greeted me with a smile. I forced one in return but never spoke a word to him. Alex finally showed up and avoided my eyes, a sure sign of guilt.

How dare he.

"Does anybody else feel the tension in this OR?" Derek asked as Addison handed him a baby.

"Can we not?" Alex and I demanded at the same time then we fell silent. The procedures went as expected and I felt proud to announce that too.

I ran my hand over my stomach and sighed as I laid down on the bottom bunk in my on call room then declared,"Just you two and me on our own,babies."

Yes! That's how the chapter is going to end. But please remember!!! Avi is PREGNANT!!! OKAY? THAT MEANS MOOD SWINGS AND AN ATTITUDE FROM HELL!! Not to mention, if you guys recall correctly, Alex was having a shitty day this episode and Avi was very busy with the quints. All of this will play into the next book. Relax.
