thirty three
10:01, 17 July 2020Third Person's POV
Days have passed and Gulf has already been feeling better than ever. Not to mention that he's got the best caregiver in the world. And that's Mew.
From the moment Gulf opened his eyes, Mew is already there to support Gulf in anything that he needs. Gulf is actually treated like a prince but at some point he hates it. He doesn't want to be served. He doesn't want to burden others for his own comfort but he can't do anything about it because the people around him still thinks he needs more time to recover his strength.
And to do that, he is receiving therapy.
"Take it slowly, Gulf, okay?"
It is Mew. He is supporting Gulf as he stretches his long legs that have been sleeping for quite some time.
"What do you think of me? A baby? I can walk on my own---"
Right at that moment, Gulf lost his balance. He couldn't stop his body from falling but good thing there's these two powerful, veiny hands of Mew, ready to catch him.
"Why? Can't walk or not, you're still my baby. Old enough or not, you're still my baby. Whatever you may be, you will forever stay my baby. Keep that in my mind, okay? And please, don't be so stubborn. If you keep rejecting my help, I will go and find someone who actually needs it."
There's a bit of silliness coated with seriousness in Mew's face as he try to deceive the other guy.
Gulf threw a stern look at Mew.
"You can?"
Mew knows for sure that he can't. He can't leave Gulf and more above that, he can't find someone better as his lover. Gulf is like a limited edition that he wants only for himself.
"Of course."
There was a sudden change in Gulf's face right after he heard Mew's answer but suddenly tones up into a brighter yet shy smile as soon as he heard the next line.
"Of course, I can't. How can I leave my baby when I know for sure that he will cry once I'm gone?"
Gulf is shy, to be honest. But he enjoys the feeling. The feeling of being in love. Mew, on the other hand, can't help but to smile seeing Gulf being all shy like that. He's cute when he's like that, though.
They decided to take a sit when they saw a bench. As usual, Mew supported Gulf to sit comfortably, which goes without saying.
"P'Mew."
It always feels like the first time whenever Gulf is calling Mew. The tingling that flows inside him is still as fresh as when they started dating.
Mew looked at Gulf, waiting for him to speak.
"I've read them."
Out of nowhere, Gulf started. A little confused, Mew's brows met while still staring at the guy who started the conversation by calling his name.
"I've read all you messages when I was still in a coma."
The sudden rush of tears visited Gulf's eyes. But he is trying his best to hold them back. He doesn't want to show Mew that he is such a crybaby. Actually, there is no need for that because Mew already knew him, as in everything about him. Including being such a crybaby.
"I don't know what to say. When I first saw them, I told myself not to cry but as I read more of them, the more my eyes get wetter." He paused for a while, eyes still on the ground. So afraid to meet Mew's eyes. "Thank you, P', for never leaving my side. For always thinking about me first before yourself even if things turned that way. Thank you for keeping your promise of never leaving me. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for everything and I am sorry for leaving you like that. I can't imagine how miserable it was for you during those times. Thank you for being strong even though I was not there. I actually said I don't know what to say but look at me now, blabbering too much."
Gulf wiped his tears away. He felt the warmth of Mew's hand as it joins him wiping his tears dry.
"No, I should be the one thanking you. Thank you for waking up. Thank you for coming back to me. Thank you for not giving up. I love you so much. I promise, this will never happen, again. Ever again. I will protect you."
Gulf couldn't help it anymore. His eyes keeps on leaking because of what he heard from Mew. It was one tough experience for Gulf.
He's a fighter.
He's brave.
But it is their love for each other which saved him.
That one true love.
They don't care if other people are looking at them because they both look like idiots for crying. They just attended to each other's comfort and created their new world.
Few days have passed, and Gulf seemed to improve a lot. His motor skills are now back to normal. In short, he is now ready to discharge.
"Congratulations on your discharge, Mr. Gulf. Just like what I always tell you, take things slowly, okay? Don't rush." The doctor said as his gaze suddenly shifted from Gulf to Mew, as if suspecting them of something. Gulf, on the other hand, is not a dumb to not get what his doctor wants to imply.
"What? No!" He yelled but his voice betrayed him and it cracked, making all the people inside the room laugh.
"Just don't make it obvious, Gulf." Pete tapped Gulf's shoulder.
"We understand how you both miss each other, Gulf. It's okay." Top said in a very modest manner.
"I said, no. Tell them it's not like what they are thinking, P'. Tell them."
He desperately looked at his P' but there was no support guaranteed. Instead, he just received a shrug from him. This caused for the laughter to go louder. Gulf feels so betrayed at that time but it doesn't matter. He's now going home. He's now back to his normal life. That is what matters the most.
While in the car, Gulf thought they're going to his apartment but the route is different from what he can remember.
After studying the route they are going, he finally realizes where they are headed to. Although it was from his dream's memory, he is sure that this leads to Mew's house.
"Where are we going, P'?" Gulf asked but Mew didn't bother answering him. Instead, he just smiled at him while looking at Gulf's reflection on the mirror.
And he was right. This is the house of his boyfriend. It is no far different from what Mew's house looks like in his dreams.
As soon as they get off the car, his mother welcomed them both with a smile.
"Thank goodness, you are now okay, Gulf."
The same image of Mew's mom from his dreams is exactly the same with the one who's hugging him right now. He can't help but to get fascinated.
"Dreams do come true, eh?" he said in his mind.
It really does feel like every memory he has in his dreams are now solid reality, right in front of him. Except for one thing.
Mew's dad.
Gulf has never met Mew's dad before because even in his dreams, he's busy with work. But not this time. He is present in the picture now, also welcoming him. But he gives off this scary vibe that puts Gulf in an awkward position.
"Hello, Gulf. I've only heard you from stories but you really are handsome in person. And a strong one. Thank you for coming back for our son. You may not know it but he cries every night."
Mew strongly protested to his father.
"Por, take it back. There were times I didn't cry so it is not every night. Don't flatter Gulf with your false testimonies. I sometimes go to sleep early, that's why." he said while scratching the back of his head.
That leads to laughter for everyone.
"I thought your father is so scary. Good thing he's not because I really don't know what to do if that happens."
They are now both in their room, unpacking their things but mostly Gulf's. He still can't believe that Mew brought him into their house. And every time he thinks about what Mew said, he just smiles automatically.
"As much as I can, I will keep you next to me always. That way, I can protect you with everything that I have."
Mew also had said something that Gulf couldn't understand.
"I am going to protect you even if it breaks Mom's heart."
